Chapter 38 - Back Home

The large house separated and far away from the nearest city of Sht'ole was as impressive as ever, it gave off two contradictory feeling to those who would look at it, a need to go as far away as possible as well as the feeling that it was a welcoming and warm home.

Every person that wasn't born yesterday knew who this house belonged to, to the good doctor Ithelisemou, they didn't know much more than that unless they had been inside as the doctor wasn't one to speak of his life with just anyone.

One thing that wasn't known was that he actually spent very little time inside of his own house but since people only saw him from time to time, they assumed he just spent most of his time hidden away.

Today however, this was about to change, Theli predicted that until things would started to move with the lich and the otherworlders, a few years would pass and he didn't need to be present in person to observe the preparations.

So he thought it would be a nice change of pace to actually be actively living inside his house.

He also had to watch over Mila and his sister anyways.

It would also be a good occasion to do some work around the house.

Ithelisemou entered his front yard through the gate as per usual, despite the addition of a new person inside, the house was still as silent as ever.

He moved around swiftly until reaching the hidden village, where he ran into Malina watching over Mila as she swung a wooden sword as if it was an iron rod.

"Theli? It's been a while" spoke Malina as she saw him, remembering that his last visit had been quite swift for as enjoyable had this time been.

"En effet, don't worry though, I will be sticking around this time" he said, giving her a wink.

"Why is she swinging a sword around?" he then asked, not letting Malina start daydreaming.

"Huh? Oh, yes, she said she wants to become an adventurer just like her brother to go find him, isn't that adorable?" she said as she brought her hand to the side of her face.

"That is a good goal but she is just randomly swinging her sword right now" he commented, it was to be expected since she was so young and had never even held a weapon but everything was off with her movements, she ended up dead tired tired in just a few moments.

"Then go show her, I know you know how to use a sword, you won a contest right?" spoke Malina.

"It was a contest for ten to twelve years old Malina but you're right" he responded as he walked up to the worn out little girl.

"Mister doctor?" she said as she saw for the first time since he brought her here, quite surprised.

"Just call me Theli like everyone else" he said as put her back on her feet.

Her hair seemed to have been cut and seeing how well it had been done it must have been Malina who did it, the short hair and pieces of dirt on her face from falling down gave her a very tomboyish look.

"Have you ever seen your brother swinging his weapon?" he asked her and she moved her head from side to side.

"Alright then, watch this" he told her, his smile not appearing nearly as sleazy as usual despite there being no visual differences.

Watching him demonstrate some basic sword strikes and correcting Mila's posture, Malina couldn't help but fantasize a bit seeing how good he was with dealing with a kid.

"By the way..." she was suddenly pulled out of it as Theli spoke to her, she hadn't realised how long she had been in the clouds.

"...I heard that Ortenmia will be coming back soon" he said, looking just like he had when he had started while Mila was laying flat on the ground, like some sort of puddle.

"Ah" was the only thing she managed to say.

It wasn't that she disliked Ortenmia but she certainly prefered when she was the only one Theli had around her, Mila and Ekatonexi didn't count.

Wanting to make sure of something all of a sudden, she asked him something.

"Say, there won't be anyone else after me and Ortenmia right?" she asked, expecting a direct answer but Theli only started to walk backward while talking to her.

"You know Malina, life is full of uncertain things, things can go unexpectedly and sometime you just have to go along with it" he calmly said while backing off.

"You already have another one in mind?!" she almost shouted, a bit paniked all of a sudden.

"I'll go check on Eka, why don't you ask Mila if she wants to eat anything? I'll do the cooking myself" he casually evaded the question while slithering inside the house and closing the door.

"That means he had multiple!" she muttered under her breath.

"I need to step up my game" she added out loud.

Needing to collect her thought, she reached inside her clothes and grabbed the handle of something, she let out a relieved sigh and then walked toward the still laying Mila.

Meanwhile, Theli was doing what he said he would be doing and went to see his little sister.

He knocked on the door a few times and after a few moments, opened the door.

He saw a fairly rare sight since Eka was standing up and looking out of the window.

He hoped to hear her voice clearly but she just turned to him, her face completely inexpressive even if she was glad to see him.

She walked up to him and he leaned forward to hear her inaudible words.

"I am well, no need to worry, have you met face to face with Mila yet?" he asked as he grabbed her hands.

As expected, she hadn't.

After all, she would never try and meet someone on her own and especially not a girl and had someone other than Theli tried to introduce her to someone new, it probably wouldn't have gone well.
