Chapter 44 - Stasis

Unlike usual, Jeanne wasn't wearing her armor but the uniform, it was pretty weird to see her in something else.

Upon arriving, the first thing she did after being presented with Mila was raise her up.

"So you did make a kid! I knew it, you would never live with another woman and not lay a hand on her at all" she exclaimed while shaking poor little Mila around.

"What a little cutie" she added.

"You do realise we don't look the same at all?" asked Theli, causing Jeanne to actually pay attention.

"Huh"

"You really adopted a kid? That's weird, I don't want kids of my own much less that of someone else" she said, putting down the dizzy Mila.

"But, you didn't deny the other thing, you really found yourself a woman?" she said in a low tone.

"Two actually" he responded.

"Now that's what I expected, that's my boy" she congratulated him while loudly slapping his shoulder.

"How about you?" he asked back.

"I think I scare men away, they never come back after the first time" she answered.

"That's what I expected from you" he said while giving her a thumb up.

"I would insult you but I'll hold back for the kid, now, let's stop talking about that and follow me" she started walking off immediately after, not waiting for any answer.

Theli picked up Mila and followed her.

"I would like to have your opinion on the three otherworlders Lillen brought in" she said, Theli had somewhat heard of this but hadn't yet had the occasion to see what they were made of.

"Three of them? Were they already together or did she brought three solitary ones?" he questionned, Mila seemed a bit lost about what they were talking about.

"Together, they said that they were together when they woke up inside of a forest near here" she informed him.

'Seems like the magus spread the unwanteds around, did he wipe their memeories too?' he wondered.

Entering a room where Jeanne had made the three otherworlders wait, she presented them swiftly.

"Charlotte, Olivia and Emma"

The three of them were quite short but from what Theli knew from the unwanteds in general, they tended to be shorter on average, noticing the strange feeling they gave off confirmed that they were actual unwanteds, no foul play here.

Charlotte was blonde with brown eyes, Emma had hazelnut colored hair with blue eyes and Olivia had orange hair, green eyes and seemed covered in freckles.

They didn't appear to have developped much using their abilities yet and didn't seem to very built at all either, all in all, they didn't seem to pose any threat, all that was to be taken into account was the ability they had been given.

"Sorry for making you wait girls, this is Ithelisemou, do not freak out" spoke Jeanne, the last part seemed a bit unneccessary.

"Bonjour" he said while flashing his usual smile, revealing his sharp teeth, the three otherworlders silently backed off a bit.

One of them seemed to be hit by a revelation though.

"Did you just speak french?" she asked, it seemed like the old magus had been nice enough to do the necessary things to include them in the blessing of understanding as despite not speaking the language she was perfectly understood without Theli needing to do anything.

"I do not know that language, Patois is what I speak girl" he responded, while stepping closer.

"Tell me, do you happen to have a goal in mind, the three of you?" he then asked, there was a stasis, it looked as though everything lost its color for a moment.

"Some time ago, one of our friend, Sophie, vanished out of thin air, pulled in by some force, so when the same thing happened to the three of us and we ended up here, I thought that we could perhaps find her again, that's the only goal we have" spilled Olivia clearly and concisely.

The colors came back and time seemed to flow again as the three otherworlders started sweating bullets out of nowhere.

Theli patted the freckled girl's head.

"I see, good luck with that, you can count on some support from here, not too much though" he told her before walking back to Jeanne and Mila who seemed a bit confused.

"What did you just do? You just walked up to them and now they look horrified" asked Jeanne, not seeming very worked up about all of this.

"I won't say but don't worry, you can keep them around" he told his friend.

"Anyways, let's go back before the ceremony starts without us" he then said, there were no other events after that apart from the main one.

The king had organised this ceremony so as to make it clear who it was that would be in charge of each part of the military and also to give some medals too, Jeanne was obviously heavily decorated, Theli got a small one for his medic achievements but as important as it was, medics tended to be overlooked.

Not that Theli cared much, if he wanted recognition that much he wouldn't have been publishing his findings and selling his creations under different aliases.

After the ceremony ended, Theli swiftly teleported Mila to her bed as she was dead tired and then himself back to the castle.

He found himself sitting in the king's quarters, he had something to tell the young king.

"My king" he started saying but the king raised his hand in protestation.

"Just call me Pepin, let's have some familiarity" he said.

"Pepin, I wanted to speak to you about the future, it is very likely that many nations will soon point their fingers at a singular threat" he spoke, making Pepin raise one of his eyebrows questionningly but didn't stop listening.

"I will simply advise you to not join them and instead side with that threat"

Pepin maintained a poker face as he thought about Theli's words, of something like that was to happen, he would have most likely stayed neutral as going to another war would prove detrimental.

"Why should I choose the threat to side with?" asked the king.

"Because they are going to win of course" simply responded Theli, he didn't provide much information but inspired trust despite his shady outlook.

"I'll keep your words in mind until then" answered the king, choosing to make his decision once the situation wasn't so obscure.
