Chapter 13 - Nation Management Isn't Easy

Seating on the king's chair, Lust was going through each of the paper on the table before her one by one at a fast pace, trying to find one she could actually manage to understand, finding none that wasn't full of gibberish, she just let the king go through them and explain in detail what each of them entailed exactly.

Even with the blindfold on her face, it was easy to tell that she was frowning deeply, management wasn't something she knew in general and doing so on the scale of a whole country was something of its own.

Still, getting a kingdom under control was something only she could do so efficiently and without causing some disaster in the process.

Wrath would just murder people left and right, Greed only cared about her coins, Envy couldn't focus on something for too long, Sloth was Sloth, Gluttony barely even talked at all or showed much sign of actually understanding what was going on in front of her and Pride was too high and mighty to assume the role of a 'measly' king.

Leaving only Lust to assume that job, getting the king and the whole of the people inside the castle under her control was easy enough, with enough time, she should be able to get every citizen to follow her whims but she still needed to make it appear that this kingdom was functioning as usual for a while.

She tried to contact the lich to get some assistance with all of this and she did say that she would be sending someone over but there was no sign of anyone showing up and thinking about it, Lust didn't have any idea who she could possibly send, the other sins would be of no help and that Narik necromancer didn't seem exactly to be any more capable in that regard.

As she rubbed her temples while trying to understand what it was that the king was explaining, someone knocked on the door to the room, putting her on alert immediately, she could tell exactly where the people under her control where at all times and none of them were behind that door.

The door was flung open, revealing a most peculiar man dressed in crappy, dark clothing.

"I am the guy that is here to help, c'est moi!" he exclaimed, exhibiting a sharp smile, he didn't seem to fit the part of someone that could help with endless paperwork but he certainly gave out the vibe that he could.

Lust brought her hand to her chin and thought for a few moments before nodding her head, her content smile making her way on her face.

"You are?" she asked him.

"Ithelisemou, you must be Lust, a pleasure to meet one of the sin, in the flesh" he put a bit too much emphasis on the last word and stepped forward to the desk, casually taking the king's crown on putting it on his head before going through the paperword very naturally.

"The crown is for immersion" he said as he neatly organised the papers into designated piles and piling them up from the least urgent to most urgent.

"You can see through that blindfold?" he asked Lust, she was just standing there, not sure what to do for a few moments before taking a seat opposite to him and the king.

"Of course" she responded, not elaborating like Theli would have liked.

"Are there any other papers? That seem to a small amount" he remarked despite the enormous piles that kept on growing as he sorted them out.

"The king has some other people take care of certain things, I'll show you where they are once you're done" she told him as she slumped back into her chair.

"Also, who the hell are you?" she then asked, not remembering ever seeing or hearing of that guy, ever.

"Since you already know my name, I guess you mean where I suddenly came from? Narik told me about this little team of yours and I was utterly interested, I have a lot to gain from working with the miss lich and I must admit, it has been a while since I did something out in the world" he said, not stopping his hastly but deliberate movements while doing so.

In about ten minutes, everything was sorted and having skimmed through each of them in great details, he already had an idea about how to deal with each of the issues mentioned on them.

"Ah, kingdom management, a tedious task for certain but it has a charm to it, doing all of it yourself is just so rewarding and truly makes you feel like you are in charge, being king is one thing and delegating can certainly be important if not necessary but having complete knowledge and control over every aspect of life in such a wide area is something else, wouldn't you agree?" he said aloud, earning him a confused look from Lust as she was leading him to the other people that worked to or rather, used to work to make this country run.

"A powerful, humanoid creature in the empty forests of Gloire?" a man dressed in priestly get up repeated the word that had just been told to him, clearly expressing his doubts but he didn't need anyone to elaborate further to trust these words.

He knew that they wouldn't lie to him, meaning that their actually was a powerful being roaming the area that been almost completely devoid of such dangers for as far as their records went.

He sent scouts to investigates the surroundings to get more information on said being and perhaps even get a lead on the original objective of the mission but all he got was the disappearances of a bunch of people, it certainly meant that something was going on but it wasn't exactly conclusive.

Looking around at all of the elites of Heilig, he could clearly tell that they were almost all set on getting into a fight with this thing, they were the best warriors of the kingdom and all they thoughts about involved battle, for the most part.

Some of them may have bland and outright ridiculous nicknames but they were all fierce in their own ways.

Bilam, The Insectophile, an entomancer that didn't appreciate what people seemed to be thinking of her love for insects, she had gotten the end of the stick with her title and mentioning it to her was certain to upset her.

Jhorn, Genocide Knight, a simple looking knight whose strength is at its best in long fights as his strength would keep on growing for as long as he didn't consider a fight over, how he had obtained that title was obvious, it hadn't been a genocide is the strictest sense of the word but it had been a bloodbath for sure.

Malamn, Holy Roadblock, the tank of the elite, he isn't very special in his abilities, he simply excels at his job and it's enough, the roadblock part makes sense but the holy one didn't for he didn't use any sort of holy abilities or power, nobody knew what was going on inside the head of the people that did the naming.

Minimil, Lady Storm, a mage specialised in wind magic and its derivatives, she had unusual way of using her magic but just like Malamn, she was mostly one that was simply great at what she did, her title was straightforward, the lady part was probably because someone was a bit too infatuated with her, who it was that did was a complete mystery.

Rior, The Boar, many said that he was berserker but he was actually a svinfylkingars, which was a word few could pronounce correctly, in essence, it was the same as a berserker though, he was simply called the boar for he wore one's head as a headpiece and also because just like berserkers are linked to bears, svinfylkingars are linked to boars.

Idil, Wrath Of The Gods, the priestess of the group and arguably the most versatile due to her all encompassing faith in the many gods, her name wasn't very accurate since she didn't speak or act on behalf of the gods per see.

Gnataniel, Fist Of Inceneration, a battle mage specialised in fire magic, he mostly used his fist to do his work thus earning him his title, one of the coolest sounding ones too.

Polt, Unseen Death, the assassin of the group that wasn't as defenseless without the advantage of surprise as some may think, his title was fairly self explanatory.

Lastly, there was Farsite, Fly Striker, the ranger and scout of the group, an expert in handling a bow, she was called Fly Striker for she was believed to be able to hit flies with her arrows, something she absolutely never did.

The one meant to coordinate and relay orders to them was the man dressed like a priest, Lorlon, he was sort of their leader and everyone seemed to see him as such despite his utter lack of understanding when it came to fighting, he didn't need to know that because they all already did but it was still strange that he, of all people, would be assigned to that role.

He looked at them, already feeling like a headache was going to arrive.

"Fine but do not, under any circumstances, enter on Gloirian territory, I am serious, if I hear that any of you even slightly walked over the imaginary border, I will make sure that you are assigned the worst possible title possible!" he warned them, an empty threat but it was the effort that mattered.

"If it gets dangerous, make sure to retreat, for once" he advised.
