As Amanda and Kevin made their way down the stairs, a chill ran down her spine. She had just narrated to Kevin everything she saw the night of the murder, but something felt off. Suddenly, Kevin grabbed her arm tightly, his eyes wide with fear.
"You have to stay at my place for a while," Kevin said, his voice barely a whisper, "We can't be too careful now that we know the killer is Mr. Amos. He's not just a killer, he's a monster."
But Amanda couldn't shake off the feeling that there was more to the story. "Kevin, he doesn't know we are aware of what he did three years ago, and that is a leverage that gives us an unexpected opportunity to find those youths and get the evidence from them to have him arrested," Amanda responds, her voice low and conspiratorial.
As they stepped out into the night, Amanda couldn't shake off the feeling that they were being followed. She glanced back but saw nothing out of the ordinary. Suddenly, she heard a voice whispering her name in her ear. She froze, her heart pounding in her chest.
"But Amanda, why would you want to avenge the murder of a lady who had an affair with your late husband and even got pregnant for him?" Kevin adds, his voice low and hesitant.
Amanda hesitated but finally spoke. "Even though I know what my husband did was wrong, and honestly when I think about it, it hurts so much that the man I married for 16 years, who I thought I knew, whose death I mourned so heartily and still do, turned out to be keeping a deep dark secret. My husband was faking the love he had for me for so long and there I was, sitting at home, waiting and loving a man whose heart was far away from me and in the hand of another woman. But that's not the worst part. The man who killed her, Mr. Amos, is a monster, a ruthless killer who won't stop at anything to keep his secrets safe."
As they got into Kevin's car, Amanda couldn't shake off the feeling that they were being watched. She couldn't shake off the feeling that there was more to the story, and that they were getting closer to uncovering the truth. But what horrors would they uncover? And would they make it out alive? The night was dark, and the wind howled as if trying to warn them of what was coming next.
