Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: First Mission

The moment Fedyenka knew that he is the counselor, her first thought was that he will show her some ways to get answers of her questions. She did not know that the man's name is the counselor not because he shows a way but he creates a way his superiors like. How so? Fedyenka was curious to know that.

"Come with me" said the counselor.

Fedyenka started going with him. He led her to a horrific room. There were many kinds of knives, weapons, bullets and several books. The title of the books were horrific as well. Those were no doubt, books about torture methods.

"Why are there so many stuffs to torture people?" asked Fedyenka.

"These are for you to use. I'll teach you." said the counselor.

"For what?"

"We have a mission ahead. I have to prepare you for it. By the way, call me counselor."

"Okay, counselor."

The counselor gave her some juice to drink and asked her how it tasted. It tasted bitter to her. Then he pinched her and asked her if she feels anything. She said that she doesn't feel anything. He gave her a rose to smell, she could smell it and told him that it's great. At last he checked her eyes. He noted somethings on a notebook.

"You are doing totally fine now except...some senses aren't back yet. No worries, I will fix you in a month." said the counselor.

"Oh..." said Fedyenka.

"For now, you will get combat training. Giving you direct information might cause harm. So I will teach those to you. I'm pretty much of an old fart now. Some of my students will be the ones teaching you."

"Why would direct information cause harm?"

"Because if it's in your brain once, it cannot be removed. Information can be both wrong and right. So, we cannot take the risk. You are the gift from god after all."

"Counselor. What is a God?"

"A God is the one and only. The creator of everything who has always been the almighty and always will be."

"So, no one created God?"

"No. We cannot imagine something like that, so it's better if we don't talk about it too much. The real knowledge about God and God's creation is long gone now." said the counselor. Then he sighed.

"Why are you sighing? Is everything alright?"

"No nothing. You are too sympathetic. That won't do. You have got gruesome missions in front of you. I'll call Yuri and Phantom." said the counselor. Then he left the room.

He opened the door again and told her, "Don't touch anything." Then he left again.

"Okay." said Fedyenka.

Though she didn't touch a single thing, she still looked here and there of the things. Out of curiosity, she took a look at the notebook the counselor left. Dew to her lack of sense of touch, she couldn't hold the notebook properly and it fell from her hands. She saw a page which said, "The girl wrote something like this."

The rest were scrappy handwriting of a language Fedyenka knew. She read it and translated to the language she was currently speaking. It says, "The one who can read it must know about everything."

Reading that, Fedyenka was confused. She was stroking her chin and pondering about it. She was thinking of telling about these to the old man but then she thought that it must be something only for her, so she changed her mind.

"Does everything means, literally everything? No, that can't be. Maybe it means that if I want to pursue every knowledge I have to know everything? No...it's not getting me anywhere." thought Fedyenka. She kept pondering like that for half an hour. She suddenly heard footsteps so she quickly kept the notebook where it was after closing it.

"Fedyenka, did you touch my notebook?" asked the counselor rushing to the door.

"Yes. I couldn't make heads or tail of anything though." said Fedyenka as if she knows nothing.

"Okay...Can you read it?" said the counselor after turning the page over and showing her the message with scrappy handwriting.

"No. I tried to read it but I can't make any head or tail out of it."

"Why try reading it?" said Yuri.

"I was just curious. Hey, your name seems familiar." said Fedyenka.

"You met me today. Just now, and you already forgot?"

"No, it seems to familiar. It's like I have heard the name somewhere else."

"Don't ponder too much about anything. You are going to be a fighter not a researcher."

"Well, which one are you?"

"I am both."

"I will be both too then." said Fedyenka with her head high.

"Oh? We'll see about that." said Yuri with a stern face.

"Yuri, where is Phantom?" asked the counselor.

"Counselor, I know every other thing but his whereabouts. He is the most stubborn-head fighter I have ever seen." replied Yuri.

"Who is Phantom?" asked Fedyenka.

"You'll know when you'll see. By the way, he's your brother. Your one and only family." said Yuri.

"My brother? Why is his name so weird though..."

"Don't you think that your name is weird as well?"

"Yuri." said the counselor while he stared at him like a hawk.

"Sorry." said Yuri.

"I'll go look for that troublemaker." said Yuri and then he left.

"Counselor, what is your name actually?" asked Fedyenka.

"My name is not so important to know." replied the counselor.

"Counselor! Where are you, sir?!? He's throwing a tantrum again." said one of the woman she saw when she opened her eyes. This woman seems younger than the other one so she assumed that she must be a newbie researcher.

"Where is he?" said the counselor.

"Come with me, sir."

"Fedyenka, you come too."

"Oh...Okay." said Fedyenka and started going with them. She questioned herself while they were going, "Have I ever questioned about my name?"

They reached the place where there was being a 'tantrum' thrown.

"Phantom! Stop it. Stop it you bloody little brat."

The person named Phantom or rather an animal named Phantom was throwing things here and there. The whole place was a mess.

"STOP RUINING MY PREACIOUS PLACE. Hey don't touch that, it's my- *sigh* favorite cup. I guess I have to put you to sleep." said the counselor.

A piece of the broken glass got in front of Fedyenka. There was written, "No.1 Grandfather."

The counselor took a pen out of his pocket and pressed a button. Some blue liquid got on Phantom and he fell asleep.

"Counselor, what is that blue liquid thing?" said Fedyenka.

The counselor replied "It's not liquid. It's aquas. It's a sleep med."

"Are sleep meds like this? It somehow seems more than a sleep med to me though,"

The counselor called out some staffs to carry him to his room and give him some rest.

"And there I thought, Phantom will help. Heh, me and my expectations. None of you ever reached my expectations."

"Come on old man, I'm not even trained yet." said Fedyenka.

"You think it's child's play, young lass? It's more than you think." said the counselor. Then he looked at the staffs and assistants and said, "All of you. What happened here? What made him mad?"

"Sir, we didn't do anything. He suddenly came and overheard our conversation." said a female staff.

"And what kind of conversation was it?" said the counselor while he was boiling with rage.

"It was about Fedyenka. He just heard that she's awake now and there he goes."

"That boy has a point to be mad. A lot of torment was done to him for this immature wannabe. Tsk..." said the counselor and told Fedyenka to clean it with them and that it is her first mission.

"What? A mission? It seems more like a-" Fedyenka was stopped midway.

"Shut up and do it. I have got works now."

While cleaning with the other staffs, she saw a desk with the same message written on it. She asked the staffs about it. They told her that it's no matter for her to know. She observed the craving and suddenly saw some details of it that popped up in front of her eyes.

"4 days old. Ink used, gel."

She was surprised. She wanted to find out more about it but she couldn't. Then she asked some staffs about the reason why it's not cleaned yet. They told her that there was too much work to do than cleaning desks. She looked at the staff who was talking to her and literally knew about everything about her. Her age, her height, her heart rate, her temperature...literally everything. She got startled and moved back then tripped on the floor. She looked up and saw a horrific face.
