Chapter 19 - Chapter 18

At last, the family's fears were dispersed into the air, as a baby boy was born into the family. The family was overjoyed to have the news, and even more so to have Mrs Baker alive. Mrs Baker was hospitalized for a week prior to the naming ceremony, during which all of the family's relatives from the baby's maternal and paternal sides attended. The girls were delighted, and even Mr Baker, who had initially been most worried about his wife's health and had avoided the baby for a three-day period, was smiling at the newborn as he held him in his arms.

The baby was fair-skinned, with long eyelashes, and had small ears and lips, as well as a small pointed nose. It was evident that God had taken his time to create the baby, and the family loved him for it. The naming ceremony went according to the family's plan, with the pastor leading the prayers and naming the baby "Munachi", with all other names chosen by the family.

Muna, as he was called by the family, grew up fast. He attended school and was very intelligent for his age. The family saw him as a star child who would make them proud one day. He was able to do things and think like an older person. The family would wonder at his thoughts when they heard them.

The family was happy. May was nearing the end of her degree at the university, Felicia was starting to work alongside her Masters, and Audrey was hoping for admission after she completed her UTME exams.

**************

On the bed, Audrey was writing on her phone, answering a WhatsApp message from George. A few minutes later, George called her. "Hey, Amor! How are you doing?"

"I was just responding to your WhatsApp message," he said, smiling.

"It's takes you so long to respond to my messages. Why don't you come by this Saturday?" he asked.

Audrey said that her mom wouldn't let her out of the house, and that if she did, the last time would have happened again.

"My dad and mom were scrutinizing you, watching your every move, they couldn't even let us be in the living room. They sat down with us and interfering with everything we were discussing about. It was funny then, but not now," she said. "I don't want it to happen again."

Audret said that she'd figure out a way to come around and asked about his parents.

"They're out of town on a honeymoon package my dad prepared for mom," George said.

I'm so glad I have you! I miss you so much, so come by when you can!" George reminded her once again.

"I promise I'll call you soon about it. Kisses, George." Audrey said.

George hung up the phone, and Audrey heard footsteps coming up to her room. She opened the door to find May standing at her door, her eyes shining with admiration.

"Audrey....Audrey.... "May called out. Audrey smiled as she unlocked the door.

"Mmm.... come in, May," she said, gliding into the room and sitting down on the bedside table. "To what do I owe for this visit, May. I'm so impressed with your transformation. You look gorgeous, so tell what's going on?" Audrey questioned.

Audrey smiled, folding her arms and crossing her legs. Her sister was looking stunning in a black sleeveless dress and black heels, and she was wearing light makeup and a long dark wig with her hair cascading down over her shoulder.

"Well, I wanted to confirm if I did a great job with my outfit and makeup. Now seeing you confirms that" May said with a smile which lightened her facial features.

"Totally. And this is for??" Audrey asked May with an eyebrow raised.

"You don't need to know....

"You can't let me in a little and push me out. You need to tell me okay" Audrey whined which went on for two minutes.

"Okay. Fine. All this is for Nate. I have a date with him and nothing more." May blushed and left when she noticed that Audrey was going to ask about Nate and left her room briskly.
