Chapter 21 - Chapter 20

May heard her phone beep while she was having dinner with Nate. Although the dinner date began with a creepy vibe but after the meal and wine came in, it went all normal. Nate continued to stare at her, she thought it creepy but she still continued to eat.

After eating, she checked her phone and saw Audrey's text message. She stood up immediately, told him that she had to go home as her parents were home. He pulled her to himself as she wanted to leave the eatery without him, he asked her if he could get a reward.

May smiled and told him a big "no" immediately. She knew what he was talking about and she knew how much she wanted to avoid doing such things with him.

"Nate, I want to leave right now. Please don't stop me" May asked.

"Sure." He said and kissed her forehead.

"Well, that's all you would be getting from me. I want to leave now. My parents are waiting for me and my little sister is going to get into trouble if I don't leave now" May said angrily.

"Feisty May. Okay I'm letting you go. We will do this some other time" Nate concluded with a smirk and let her go.

"There won't be a next time. I had fun dinning with you but it's all over, isn't it" May retorted

"Bye sweet" Nate said as he watched May walk out of the eatery.

"Good evening, dad. Where's mom??" May greeted her dad when she saw her dad sitted on the couch in the living room.

"Where are you coming from, May?" Her dad asked, almost angrily.

"Dad, I thought Audrey would have told you and mom since I told her before I left. I went to school for lectures" May told her dad.

"Where are your books?? Something that makes me believe you went to school not somewhere else" her dad questioned.

"Dad, I took my books but I lent it out to some of my course mates.," May said, convincingly.

"I hope you know what you are doing and that your future is bigger than today. Don't let those boys ruin for you. They never bring something good, just ruining little girls" Her dad warned.

"Thanks dad. I know" May said with a smile then walked upstairs into her parents bedroom to find her mom.

"Mom, how are you? I'm so sorry lecture took long and I didn't inform you about it. It totally slipped my mind" May apologized.

"How about you tell me the truth, May. I don't believe that story you and Audrey came up with" Mrs Baker said as she diverted her attention from Muna, who was sleeping in his crop.

"Mom, we've told you all there's to it. Why don't you believe us?" May questioned.

"First, you don't look like you went for any lecture. I have never seen you dressed like that for lecture. Second, your story sounds too good. Well, I don't want to talk about this anymore since you both have made up your minds to lie to me. I just hope you don't regret it" Mrs Baker warns and asked them to leave.

After, they left. Mr Baker came into the room and asked his wife why she didn't believe them. She laughed and asked him not to worry.

"Thanks, Audrey. Didn't know you had a head for that? Not that I want you to do that again for me" May said as they got inside Audrey's room.

"Sure. Not anymore. "Audrey smiled, grateful she could be of help this one time. "Why didn't you return my messages or at least, return home faster?" Audrey asked.

"Yes. I'm so sorry that happened. I didn't see it on time" May lied.

"Okay." Audrey said.

May left her sister's room to her room. She took a shower and settled for bed. Her phone rang, she quickly picked it to hang up the call. She had forgotten to put her phone on DND or rather vi brate mode. If her parents heard that, they were going to seize her phone for more than a week and she didn't want that happening or something worst like her parents speaking with Nate on her phone.

"What do you want?" May said, frustrated

"You know what I want, May. You" Nate laughed at her naivety.

"You had better left me alone. And don't ever call me at night else you would be speaking to my parents directly"May threatens.

"Sure, May. I'm sorry for what happened at the eatery. I will try not to do that ever again" Nate apologises.

"Well, I can't say I have forgiven you. Who says you won't do that again? You need to respect me and until then, don't call my phone" May said angrily before hanging up on him.

"May, are you fine??" Mrs Baker came into her room and interrupted May's thoughts. May brought quickly to reality saw her mom in her pyjamas, standing close to the opened door.

"Mom??? What are you doing here?" May stood up from her bed, staring at her mom.

"What? I can't come into your room" Mrs Baker chuckled and gestured for May to sit.

"Mom, I see that you have become frequent not just in Audrey's room but my room also" May said, feigning a smile.

"Young lady, I don't think that should be a problem. You live in my house and I pay the bills, last I checked" Mrs Baker warned.

"Sure mom. But I'm older now and need my space" May complained with a frown.

"Young lady, you're my daughter, ready to spank anytime, now, tomorrow, and years after even when you are married" Mrs Baker seriously said.

"Whoa...mom." May exclaimed.

"Yea. Right. May" Mrs Baker called out.

"Mom, I'm listening" May said, facing her mom.

"Talking about marriage, are you in a relationship with someone??" Mrs Baker asked seriously.

"Mom??.....

"Why are you shouting at the top of your voice like I had said an abominable word?? Are you in one or not?" Mrs Baker said angrily with her legs tapping the floor.

"I'm sorry, mom." May apologized with her eyes on the floor.

"May, look at me when I talk to you. Answer my question else you wouldn't like what would happen to you when I find out you have lied to me" Mrs Baker threatened.
