"Hey gorgeous" A guy flirted with May as she sat, waiting for Nate in an eatery. May just stared at him without saying anything like she was unimpressed.
"Are you waiting for someone?" He asked again with a grin. May looked around to confirm Nate's absence.
"You want whiskey, beer, wine or you don't drink alcohol like the pretty innocent girl you are?" He said.
"Look, what do you want? I would love it if you left me all alone to myself" May said with no care whatsoever about his feelings. The guy didn't mind and continued to talk to her.
"I'm Hakim....
"Well, Hakim. Back off.....
"You heard the lady, man. Back off. She's mine." Nate said as he held Hakim's shirt tightly. It looked like Hakim was about to choke any minute from now.
"Nate, stop doing that" May pleaded with Nate as she saw that they were the center of attention at the eatery. Nate looked at her then looked at Hakim before releasing his grip on Hakim.
"I never want to see you around her ever again" Nate warned him again.
"Sure as long as you are not with her" Hakim said with a smug on his face before leaving them to sit somewhere else. Soon, other people in the eatery looked away
"You almost ruined my mood. You didn't have to do that. He was just being friendly okay." May complained.
"Really? Friendly? I think I can no longer stay here and have that fine date I want with you." Nate concluded.
"What??" May shouted as she couldn't hear him due to the loud music which had began playing in the eatery.
"Let's leave here" Nate held her hands and pulled her out of the eatery.
"Why are we leaving, Nate??" May asked worriedly.
"We are going to a place where its just you and I. All alone away from the eyes of the world" Nate said with a smile. May nodded, she was scared and creeped out already but she told herself not to show it. Nate and May quickly got to Nate's SUV.
They got in and quickly, Nate drove to his alone world with May.
Meanwhile, Mr and Mrs Baker had gotten home with the baby as they went to the hospital for the baby's immunization to find only Audrey at home.
"Audrey, where's May? I hadn't seen or heard her voice since we got back" Mrs Baker asked Audrey who was quiet and in her thoughts about how to contact May to return home.
"Your mum is talking to you, Audrey" Mr Baker said.
"Yeah... Right. She isn't home at the moment." Audrey said with a calm expression.
"Stop beating around the bush, Audrey. Tell me where May is right now" Mr Baker said quickly.
"I think I heard when she said that she had a lecture in school" Audrey said as that was the only lie she could come up with.
"Oh really? Lecture on Saturday which I wasn't informed about?" Mrs Baker inquired.
"Possibly...
"To what question exactly?" Mr Baker said with an eyebrow raised. Audrey knew that this moment was the most important one. She understood that if she messed this question and answer thing going between her and parents then both she and May would be finished.
"She not telling mom about the lecture." Audrey kept the calm facade going.
"Hmm... That's okay. You can by go to your room." Mrs Baker said with a small smile then rocked the baby to sleep as he woke up crying.
"Thanks Mom. I hate to do this with you both but I love you both" Audrey said with a smile and kissed their cheeks. As Audrey climbed the stairs, her mom asked her if she had prepared dinner already. Audrey replied affirmative. No one knew how much she had grumbled when her mom told her to make dinner, Jollof rice and fried turkey.
Immediately, Audrey got into her room, laid on her bed and began to text May about their parents being at home and the lies she told them about her whereabouts. Soon she heard footsteps approaching her room, she knew it wasn't a good time to be seen with her phone. She quickly took a novel in her drawers and sat up, reading in her bed. She heard her door open and her mom's perfume filled the air.
"Mom, let me see my little brother" Audrey began after taking him from her mom as she saw her mom sat on her bed, staring at her with a smile.
"I see my little girls are all grown up. Keeping secrets from their mother" Mrs Baker began.
"Mom, what are you talking about?" Audrey said, half scared and half calm that her mother was saying that about them.
"Young lady, you're covering up for May, aren't you? I didn't want to question you downstairs in front of your dad but that doesn't mean that I didn't know the real truth here. I have done this before back in the days and I certainly know when other girls attempt such. Where did May go??" Mrs Baker asked, half yelling.
"Mom, please calm down. I told you all I knew okay." Audrey said quickly like she was fed up, handing the baby back to her mom.
"Sure, Audrey. You and I know what would happen if I find out you're lying to me" Mrs Baker threatened.
"Definitely" Audrey managed a smile while her mom walked out of her room with her younger brother.
