Chereads / My quiet bodyguard / Chapter 30 - Chapter 30

Chapter 30 - Chapter 30

Reaching the next red light Ari hurriedly held the ice cream, or what was left, in front of Kale's eyes.

"Here, take it, I had enough," she said.

"Thank you." He took it from her soft fingers, gently touching each other for a sec.

Ari, who was already shy to begin with, felt electricity all over her body over this light meeting of their skin.

'Why am I overthinking everything? It was only natural they touched, pf.' She was scolding herself.

But her eyes fell on Kale, holding the small ice cream in his large hand and long fingers.

Her eyes focused on him, almost making it happen in slow motion, as he tried it out.

Suddenly, she didn't know what took over her, "PFFFFFTT!" She laughed uncomfortably.

Lyna looked at her confused.

She stopped for a moment, staring at them not knowing what to say. But when her eyes fell again on the ice cream in his hand she started laughing again, to the point she couldn't control herself and held her stomach. She was about to die of laughter.

Lyna looked at Kale confused, but that made her start giggling.

Kale was silently enjoying his ice cream, not minding their reaction.

Ari slowly started calming down. "You know, for a mysteriously scary man, you do look cute eating that."

Lyna laughed at her comment even more.

"I look cute huh," he said playfully.

"Oh shut up and eat your ice cream."

"Yes milady," he kept eating it.

Ari chuckled again at his childish behavior. She never thought eating ice cream would make this man's imposing aura disappear and make him look like a little kid.

"By the way, how old are you?"

Kale had just finished his treat with the green light. "30."

"What?" Both Ari and Lyna were confused. 'Damn,' thought Ari. But if she looks at him closely he does seem in his late twenties, while his composure and aura were definitely older. 'The sweet middle, hmm.'

Lyna suddenly stepped in. "Did you ever have a girlfriend, Kale?"

Ari playfully hit her. "What are you doing?" She whispered to her.

"Don't you also want to know?"

Ari sat back, she was indeed curious.

"No," he answered.

"Really? Don't lie. Why would you not have even one past girlfriend with your age and looks?"

"I was too busy training."

This answer shut Lyna up.

It still didn't put their curiosity away, but training to the point of not having a relationship and even not trying out ice cream, and probably more, could only mean he truly spent his life up until now training.

"Is that why you also never tried ice cream?" This time Ari asked.

"Yeah. I was too busy to think about such matters. I ate what I had, that's all."

In the midst of the silence, Kale parked the car in front of Ari's house, right behind his.

"Whose car is this?" Asked Lyna.

"Kale's. He just got it."

"Ouh, hot car."

Kale didn't answer and got out of the car to turn around and open the door for Ari.

"Always huh," scoffed Lyna.

"Shut up," joked Ari shyly as he opened the door for her and lent her his hand.

He didn't do the same for Lyna but she seemed used to it by now.

Kale took the groceries from the front seat.

"Do you want to do it right now or until you rest a bit?" Asked him Ari.

"It will take an hour or so, you can rest in between," he said.

'But, I was the one asking you to rest,' she thought.

She looked away in embarrassment. Actually, it was she who was too tired to eat right now.

But if the food was to take that long preparing then, it was okay.

He followed them into the house.

Kale walked directly to the kitchen and started preparing.

Ari walked up to him, letting her friend go up first.

"I will be upstairs with Lyna, okay?"

"Sure, go rest." He wasn't looking at her.

"Hmm," she hummed as she nodded, turning around to leave.

"I will be making dessert too," he continued.

"Something with chocolate?" She didn't feel herself smiling as she turned to look at him again.

"Yeah," 'your favorite.' He raised his eyes to look at her warmly. "Go get changed."

She nodded like a little girl and left galloping.

Kale was taking out the groceries. The black knives that were supposed to be in the suitcase suddenly appeared in the air around him.

His eyes turned cold as he took out the piece of steak.

He raises his arm, catching one of the knives, slamming it piercing a bit of the wooden piece where he put the vegetables.

His eyes glowed purple as he turned them murderously to look at the knife.

His fingers slowly wrapped around its handle.

"Black dragons," his voice was deep and dignified as if he was a transcendent being.

His knife slowly pierced a potato he held tightly.

Thud.

The knife fell.

---

Somewhere.

People with black tattoos from all over the world and Korea held their throats, coughing trying to clear it as if something was choking them.

They looked around, but to their surprise as if no one around them was noticing their presence anymore.

---

Thud.

The knife fell again.

---

Bodies fell one after another.

They screamed at the top of their lungs, but no sound came out.

---

Thud.

The knife fell again.

Kale's eyes were cold.

But this time, he looked like he enjoying every moment.

---

The black tattooed people, all kept scratching their necks on the ground, to the point that their nails dug into their skin and started showing blood. None of them cared for the pain they inflicted on themselves, for whatever was happening to them was way worse.

---

This time the knife was taking its time.

Slowly cutting back and forth.

---

All of them had their eyes turning bloody red, all starting at the sky with their eyes stuck widened.

---

Thud.

It fell for the last time.

Kale pushed the first potato away.

---

They, breathed no more, disappearing from all sight as if they never existed.

Only a few around the world were spared.

Those who had a chance to repent. Those who didn't know yet what they got themselves into. Those who were still pure.

Kale, spared them for another day.
