Chereads / My quiet bodyguard / Chapter 34 - Chapter 34

Chapter 34 - Chapter 34

"What is it," Kale inclined his head, leaving about an inch between their lips, he took a deep breath with his body, his fingers holding her waist even tighter as he made her breathe in with him, his head was slightly tilted as if he was going for the kiss but his eyes were calm and squinted slightly while hers were innocently blinking uncomfortably.

"What is it that you still do not understand?" His eyes carefully stared at her facial features, making the frozen Ari blush in embarrassment as she kept staring at those eyes enjoying her sight, "Hmm?" He asked as he looked at her again.

Ari didn't respond, she couldn't.

He slowly raised his left hand, pushing her hair behind her ear, then gently holding her right cheek, playing with it with his thumb as his hand ran to grab her face.

"What do I have to do, to make you understand, hm?" He asked again,

Ari's fingers were fidgeting like a little anxious girl on his chest while she silently stared at him with her cute eyes, seemingly with a blank mind.

Kale noticed her cute reaction, so he brought her closer while holding her.

Ari's eyes closed involuntarily as she felt his lips tenderly kiss her forehead.

She remained like that while he pinched her cheek before he let go.

She opened her eyes, not understanding what just happened, watching him take his jacket, preparing to leave. Her eyes focused on his calm handsome face as if they were stuck.

She couldn't speak for a while until his back facing her. "You are interested in me."

He didn't answer her as he was putting on his shoes.

"Why me?"

He stood up and faced her, "Why not you?"

"No, I," she was puzzled by his words, "I mean you are an amazing man, why, just me?" She couldn't put her question in good words, and hearing such words from her own mouth she felt a bit sad.

He looked at her quietly for a moment, which made her frustrated, thinking he would call her out for being insecure about it.

"I am rather glad I don't have to deal with a line of men pursuing you." Just as she was about to scoff at his words he continued, "Now that I think about it, they will be here sooner or later."

She still chuckled at his words, "Why would they? You mean when they finally notice my worth?" She asked jokingly.

But to her surprise, "Yeah," he said with a sigh, which gave her the impression he was truly believing what he was saying.

She looked at him, her smile disappeared, "I am not as amazing as you think I am."

He looked at her again, his gaze calm and composed.

Ari didn't know what to say, but in her mind, she was still overthinking everything. "What if you get to know me and I don't meet your expectations?"

"And what kind of expectations are we talking about here?"

"I don't know," she was confused herself, "anything."

"The same could be said about me then."

Ari remained quiet. That was true.

He turned around to leave.

"What did I do, for you to tell me your purpose?" She asked softly.

Kale's body froze after wearing his shoes. He didn't turn around, and lightly moved his head to the side, "You ate properly."

Ari's eyes widened. 'Was that all?' She asked herself totally taken aback by his words.

"Well, other matters too. But that's the only one I am willing to tell," he smirked as she couldn't see his expression.

"Hmm," she stared at him suspiciously. 'He won't say even if I pester him about it,' she thought.

Ari looked away for a moment, not saying a word as she was deep in thought.

She suddenly turned to look at him, a bit unwilling to speak, "Hey..." She said just as his hand fell on the door handle.

"Yes?"

"Can I, ask you something?" She clenched her hands into fists nervously.

"What is it, miss?" He turned around with a cold expression as if he went back to his normal mood.

"I," she fidgeted as she met his eyes, "I wanted to ask, is your magic, teachable?" She looked at the ground as soon as she finished her question.

Kale's eyebrows twitched for a second.

His silence made her overthink so she looked at him, whose eyes were colder and brighter than the moon. She was unable to speak.

"To protect, or to kill?" He asked with his deep imposing voice.

Ari's heart shook at his words. Her eyes widened in surprise. "I..."

"To protect, or to kill." He asked again.

Her heart trembled, soon immersed in his gray eyes her thoughts went silent.

"Aren't they, the sides of the same coin?" She uttered unconsciously.

Kale still remained silent.

She looked away, biting her lips thinking her answer was wrong.

"Asking me, or telling me?" He asked.

Her eyes met his, 'He wants a definitive answer.'

Ari took a deep breath, muttering up her courage her whole aura changed. "I believe, they are sides of the same coin." 'Yeah, it didn't matter the answer is wrong from his perspective. It is the truth for me.'

To her surprise, Kale turned around to leave. As he opened the door, "Let me know when you are ready," he said gently as he went.

Ari noticed the change of tone in his voice. 'Did I answer him right?' She asked herself while watching him leave.

Suddenly her fingers went to her forehead, reminiscing he just kissed her there, how he held her... It just hit her.

She squatted down and hid her face in her arms, screaming.

Lyna hurriedly came running to her as if she already had her ears on the bedroom door this entire time. "What is it!"

"HMMM," Ari was humming embarrassedly on the ground. She raised her eyes to stare at the door where he left, her cheeks and ears were red and of pinkish cute color on her white skin.

---

Kale, on the other hand, was hiding his face with his hand as if he was trying to stop himself from laughing, but he couldn't stop chuckling at her reaction as he left.

His laughter was soon heard across space where he was flying right now.

Around him was flying a gigantic red serpent-like dragon. Each one of his scales carried a universe of infinite galaxies.

His mouth was breathing heavily, opened in front of the laughing Kale, whose voice gradually turned quiet.

In the end, Kale could finally take a breath, sighing heavily. "Ah," He was still thinking of her adorable face.

Suddenly the dragon roared, opening his mouth fully. Kale, was so little in comparison that he was like a small planet in front of the entire universe as we know it. But this dragon itself carried millions of such realms on his scales. Kale could merely be seen by that dragon's eyes.

But why was it focusing on him, who was flying in nothingness?

Kale waved with his right hand while the other was still in his pocket.

The dragon was no more, turning into dust. The universes scattered, each returning to its own original timelines and space.

Kale on the hand looked uncaring of everything, as if Ari's reflection could still be seen in his eyes. He pushed his hair back with his hand, raising his head to look above.

'I forgot my jacket,' he thought, 'Look at what you make me do...' He smiled, a big smirk on his face with his little dimple and his well-aligned teeth.

Women would sell their souls to demons for the sight of this scene.
