Kale didn't need a whole hour to prepare dinner for them.
Desert would be the only thing that would take him that long to prepare.
Originally it would take longer. The chocolate dessert he was planning on making had to sit on the fridge for hours.
But, would that stop him?
Kale went on by starting with that first and taking his time making side dishes for the steak, being the main dish.
Upstairs, Ari and Lyna were chatting while changing clothes.
Ari threw herself face up into the bed as soon as she finished, with a growling tired voice that made Lyna giggle.
"So," she suddenly said, "What do you think?"
"About what?" Asked Lyna.
"Ugh, you know who I am talking about."
"Hmm, your bodyguard? Or your future boyfriend? Which is it?"
Ari suddenly sat up, and silently looked at her friend for a moment.
"What?" Lyna asked with a smile.
Ari didn't say a word and threw at her.
"HEY~!" Lyna started laughing hysterically.
"SHUT UP!" She threw another.
Lyna caught this one. "But wait, listen to me," she said with her hand up as if she was trying to tame a beast.
"Hmm," Ari held another pillow tightly, waiting.
"Aren't I right? I mean, think about it. With the way he is focusing on you... And you know, him being that hot and giving you all that attention... You know... It's only a matter of time before you fall for him."
"How are you so sure I will fall for him?"
"Oh, come on," scoffed Lyna. "You don't realize the chemistry between you two. Also, the man is practically a slave to you. And did you see, how cruelly he took care of the robber because he knew he was of the Baek family? While maintaining eye contact with you? You can't tell me you didn't notice that? The man's eyes change entirely while looking at you."
Ari was looking at the ground, thinking about everything.
Lyna walked up and sat next to her on the bed. "Believe me, I may not be able to read him. But you are definitely someone special to him..."
Ari's mind suddenly reminisced when he squatted to hold her feet and put her shoes on her.
"And one day," continued Lyna, "You will fall for those eyes who only stare at you, and for the actions, he does only to you, and for you."
"No..."
"Hmm, okay, okay. Then how about you imagine him treating another woman like that?"
Ari's eyes widened. "Fuck, I am already getting jealous."
Lyna laughed at her. "See, I told you. It seems like your crush on him already started."
"Oh shut up," stood up Ari. "There is nothing like that. I don't know him that well."
Lyna stood up and held her by the shoulders. "That is why it's only a crush, hehe. It may disappear when you learn more about him and find out he is not the right one for you. But for now, you like everything he is doing, don't you?"
"Yeah," Ari gave in. "I don't know, something about him is just too different. Like on a whole other level than the guys we studied with or the men I know."
"Oh, I know what you mean. I couldn't help but compare him to my grandfather."
"See," Ari kept walking back and forth, "that thing about him as if his personality is set in stone. It's like he is used to the life of the strong, even mentally, where he won't be swayed by anything."
"Hmm," Lyna sat down. "Are you comparing him to your ex, who cheated on you, saying that he is not the type to do the same?"
Ari suddenly turned quiet.
Lyna sighed, "I am sorry, I didn't mean to."
"It's okay, I, already moved on."
"Well, this time I can also vouch for him. Honestly, the only thing holding you is that mysterious side of his. right?"
Ari was silent for a moment. "That, and, the fact that I am not ready."
Lyna looked at her confused. "What do you mean?"
"Even if it seems like I rely on him. I don't trust him. And I can't look away from this unknown fear, whether it is from him, or from me fearing I might get heartbroken again. Back then, even that guy looked perfect in our eyes." Ari sat down. "He didn't only cheat. He turned out to be a completely different person, one I wasn't aware of. I don't think I can handle another one, taking off his mask when he finally gets bored."
Lyna listened quietly.
"Kale is still hiding many things from me. Maybe after the deal, and getting to know him more I might find out more about him. But for now, I am not ready."
Lyna hugged her. "It's going to be okay. You will be okay."
Both of them remained quiet for a while, until suddenly their noses caught up with some delicious smells.
They looked at each other.
Lyna suddenly went and opened the door.
They walked up to the stairs, looking at the kitchen from upstairs, watching Kale cooking.
Lyna turned to look at Ari. "Your boyfriend seems to know how to cook."
Ari bit her lips "Shut up," clenching her teeth signaling to her friend that will murder her.
Lyna giggled.
Ari looked down at the kitchen. "Let's go down."
"Yes~," said Lyna excitedly jumping the stairs.
"You are here early," said Kale as he noticed them coming.
"We smelled the food, couldn't help it," said Ari as they met eyes.
She was quite shy about it, but she maintained eye contact until he looked away, going back to cooking.
Ari on the other hand kept her eyes on him, as he cooked with a black turtleneck and his sleeves up.
With a figure like his and tight clothes like that, Kale sure was eye candy to her, especially when this strong man is cooking for her, and even better when it smells this good.
