Chapter 29 - Chapter Twenty Nine

Kelvin woke up with a panging headache. He held his head tight, rubbing the two sides of his head softly when a soft moan escaped from someone beside him. He turned to see Diego fast asleep on the sofa. He got down from the bed, carried him and placed him on the bed.

The pain in his head increased. He went to the kitchen to get some aspirin for the headache. After taking two tablets, he took some water in his mouth and pour the drug inside before gulping then down.

A voice behind him made him turn to see who it was and he was surprised to see his father sitting in the sitting room. "I would like a word son."

Kelvin dropped the glass on the kitchen's cabinet and walked up to his father. He got a seat beside his father. "Why aren't you sleeping?" he asked.

"I need to talk to you about something." His father said with a little worry on his face.

"Go on father, " he answered.

"Why did you come home drunk last night?"

Kelvin knew it was going to be about his drunkenness last night. His father knew he doesn't drink and get drunk but last night was an exception, he had to know that something was wrong.

"Um, dad... It's nothing for you to worry about..."

"I am worried as it is right now." his father cuts in. "I have never seen you drink and get drunk but for Diego to be the one to bring you home, something has to be wrong somewhere and I know you know it."

"OK father. My drunkenness last night was because of Michael. He is a celebrity whom everyone adores but why would he choose to work here when there are better opportunities out there for him if he needs a job or something."

"Michael is considered a family, what is wrong about him working here?"

"Everything father." Kelvin paused to catch his breath and to keep his voice low so it doesn't seem like he was shouting at his dad. "He is a player, all he does is get under the ladies' skirts and I am scared he is going to do that here. I am just avoiding that."

"So this is about Michael, and not someone else?"

Kelvin was stunned at the question. What does he mean by someone else? He asked himself. "Yes father."

"OK." his father stood up and went to his room.

Kelvin sat behind wondering why his father would think there was someone else. Who does he have in mind? He asked himself.

The following day, Nora and got ready for work. After the sleepover last night, they still manage to wake up early.

"I wish I could stay in bed a little bit longer." Sara was about to jump back in bed but Nora grabbed her and push her to the bathroom.

"Don't even think about it." she shut the door and got dressed for work.

Sara also came out of the bathroom and got dressed also. She saw Nora wearing a blue jean trouser and a white top but she shook her head and told her, "You ain't going to dress like that with all the secret admirers you have at work." She opened her closet and searched for a perfect dress for her. "This is just the right dress." She brought out a beautiful blue gown and gave it to her. "Since you are a little shorter than me, this should fit you perfectly."

Nora was about to complain but her friend told her to try it on. Nora collected the dress and wore it. She looked at herself in the mirror and was stunned at what she saw. The dress fits her so perfectly that all her curves became visible, her round buttocks was bigger and she couldn't help but wow at it. But there was one issue, "I am not comfortable, Sara."

"You will be." Sara winked at her and got dressed.

After a while, they went out of the house and board a taxi to take them to work.

At work, Michael had arrived and was sitting at his desk discussing with some of the ladies who came to keep him company, when Sara and Nora walked in. They were discussing and laughing. Nora didn't even take notice of Michael but Michael couldn't take his eyes off her. His eyes followed her through every step she took.

It was when Nora got to her desk and looked to the left that she saw Michael staring at him. She was surprised to see so many ladies at his desk. She stared back at him but looked away when Diego walked in.

It was a norms for Diego to say hi to her anytime he comes in the morning but this time, he ignored her. He glanced at her but walked away. Sara was also shocked. She quickly gave a glance to Nora to know how she was doing but the sad look on her face showed that she was hurt.

Kelvin came in to the office and the first person he called was Nora. Nora got up and followed him. Diego who didn't look at her after he was sitted couldn't stop staring as he watched her follow Kelvin.

Sara got up and walked up to Diego. "What's going on between you and Nora?" she asked.

"Nothing. Does it look like anything is going on?"

"Obviously! You just walked past her without saying anything, isn't that sign something is wrong."

"I don't know what you mean, Sara." He got up. "I need to use the restroom." He left.

Kelvin opened the door for Nora to come in and when she did, he shut the door. "Please take a seat." he pointed to a sofa beside him.

Nora wondered why they were having the discussion here and not at his desk.

He sat on the table and fixed his eyes on her. Nora was uncomfortable with the silence. "Is there a reason you brought me here?" she asked.

"Yes." he paused. "I know I was drunk last night and I remembered you were the only one with me," Nora listened carefully. "Is there anything I did last night that I should know about?"

Nora remembered the kiss and what happened after that. She shook her head. "Nothing happened. Diego came afterwards and took you home."

"I didn't do anything?"

"No. If that's all I would like to take my leave now." she got up and was about to leave but Kelvin held her hand.

"If at all I did anything or said anything ... "

"You didn't do anything and even if you did or said something, it wouldn't matter, why? Because you were drunk. I will take my leave now." Kelvin let her go and he watched her leave his office.

Nora stood behind the door to calm her heart before walking to her desk but on the way, she saw Diego coming from the restroom. He was about to walk away but Nora ran to catch up with him and held his hand. "We need to talk." she didn't wait for his response but dragged him out to somewhere private where they can talk.
