"Looks like the wedding is canceled."
"Father!"
"Sigh* I'm kidding, but..."
Richard looked at Kane visibly concerned.
"Are you sure about this fight?"
Kane had an unwavering air around him, his eyes opened slightly and a cool smirk was on his face.
"Fufu, yes. I'm sure."
"Hahh*... Alright, meet me in the throne room after this, I have something to show you."
Richard stood up from his seat.
"Everyone dismissed."
The elves quickly bowed toward their king and walked out of the room. Richard left through a separate door leaving the girls and Kane alone.
Angela walked up to him, her arms crossed beneath her chest. Her eyes observed every crevice of his face trying to peer at what was going on in his mind.
"I think you have something to say, young man."
Kane looked at the beautiful woman in front of him, then sighed in defeat.
"Perhaps I might've been a bit hasty..."
"..."
"Okay, I wasn't thinking straight."
"..."
"I was distracted."
"... And why were you distracted?"
"Zoey told me something, and it caught me off guard."
"?"
"Who's Zoey..."
This time Laura walked up. Her usual timid self was gone, a wicked smile was on her face, and her eyes were filled with pure wrath.
Kane looked at her a bit surprised and thought
'She changed...'
Kane closed his eyes while his hand was holding his chin.
He was thinking of how to explain a being like Zoey.
'Should I just tell them the truth? Shit, maybe I shouldn't have brought her up in the first place... Ugh, why can't I lie.'
Kane gave up and opened his eyes then said.
"She's my system."
"???"
Now it's Angelica's turn to be surprised.
"You named your system?"
Disgust can be seen on her face, her arms were raised covering herself.
Kane looked at her deadpan and said.
"Yes."
The girls collectively looked at him with different reactions. Angela shook her head with her hand on her face, Laura had her eyes slightly closed with tears nearly pouring out, and Angelica was hugging herself in disgust murmuring to herself.
"...I'm contracted to a weirdo..."
Scarlett was sitting idly on her chair seemingly unfazed by what is happening.
She fiddled with her fingers in her pocket and hummed to herself.
Kane looked at the four women and rolled his eyes then thought.
'Zoey, can you do something?'
[Would you like me to materialize?]
'Whaa... Wait, you can do that now?'
[Yes. For some reason, ever since you kissed Scarlett, a lot of the system functions have been unlocked. One of which allows me to materialize]
'That's amazing... But what did me kissing Scarlett have to do with that?'
[Have you experienced anything when you kissed?]
The memories of Scarlett appeared in his mind briefly.
Then an epiphany struck Kane like a thunderbolt.
'Why haven't I been surprised that I know them?'
'Angela and Scarlett were the only people whom I can remember my past lives with...'
A contemplative look was on his face.
'How did I not think about this at all?'
"Kane?"
Breaking him from his stupor was Angela tapping on his arm.
"Oh, sorry."
Kane stopped holding his chin then held her hand, and said.
"Angela... do you remember everything about your past life... Our past life."
"Of course, I mean how can I for-"
Angela paused for a second, her eyelids were slightly quivering.
"How do I remember..."
Angela straightened her eyes and looked into Kane's eyes.
"Was it that kiss?"
Kane recollected his memories from yesterday, then nodded his head.
"I think so..."
Angelica and Laura were standing idly, a confused look on their faces.
'What are they talking about? Memories?'
Suddenly Angela let go of Kane's hand and then pulled off a necklace beneath her dress.
"Kane, I think it has to do something with this."
A round blue pendant, with a golden orange border surrounding an intricate symbol, was on her hand. The pendant glowed a dim orange light.
Kane looked at the object in her hands then suddenly, forgotten memories began flooding his head.
.
.
An open field with craters of corpses piled like mountains submerged by pools of blood. Powerful beings of various sizes are scattered like trash around the ground.
Dismembered arms and legs spread the empty ground leaving the earth with no light. Thousands of dead beasts, with scales, feathers, and fur decorated the gruesome battlefield.
Black mists rose from the dead bodies and soon spread throughout the battlefield.
Lying in the middle of the field was a handsome man cradled in a woman's arms.
Their bodies were covered in soot and blood, their armor destroyed and broken in pieces.
The woman wept on the man's chest, as his body slowly turned to ash.
A towering figure can be seen walking away. His feet trudged slowly crushing the bodies beneath him. He looked up at the sky, and a pillar of light beamed him from above. The man disappeared into the light and left a circle of burnt flesh.
A silent whisper came from the woman's lips.
"Kane... I, Love you..."
The woman's eyes began to glow a brilliant light while her hair fluttered in the wind incinerating the filth dirtying her platinum hair.
Light began to emanate from her skin; the armor covering her beautiful figure, disintegrated.
The light grew brighter, rocks began to float around her, and fluids from the ground began to evaporate.
A golden tear fell down her beautiful face.
Her mouth moved, whispering.
"...for eternity."
BOOM*
.
.
A tear rolled down Kane's face as the memories faded away.
He looked at the woman in front of him, and his arms moved instinctively.
His arms wrapped around Angela's delicate body.
"Angela..."
Soon the pendant began to glow and broke into small particles of light as it flowed around them.
A gentle-like embrace can be felt, and Kane hugged Angela even tighter.
Angela too wrapped her arms around him, seemingly confused at first, but soon tears erupted from her eyes.
Kane slowly released their hug and gave Angela a gentle kiss on her forehead, then said.
"I remember."
