"I remember."
Ever since Kane came to this world there was this sense of belonging annoying him, but every time he tried to recall why a painful headache would always occur.
The dream he had, was a locked memory he tried to forcibly open.
Kane pondered to himself for a moment, then glanced at Scarlett.
"Scarlett, do you also remember our past lives?"
Her ruby eyes quivered momentarily, then she reached for her right pocket and took out a silver necklace. The necklace was tied around a red ring.
The ring looked plain, but a mysterious red hue came off of it.
"Yes... I remember us sitting outside a cabin, and we shared a promise."
Kane approached her and grabbed her hand holding the ring.
"Do you remember anything else?"
Scarlett's eyes opened wide, and a shocked look was on her face.
"No... "
Kane opened her hand holding the crimson ring, he gently picked it up with his right hand. Feeling the energy from the ring, a sudden flash of memories came to him.
.
.
Kane opened his eyes only to see nothing. A confused look was on his face.
'What's happening? When I saw Angela's memories, it was like watching a movie, but...'
Feeling out of place, Kane asked.
'Zoey, are you there?'
Hearing no response, Kane began to worry.
Suddenly a muffled thud came from behind him. He turned toward the sound and readied a fighting stance instinctively. His eyes peered into the darkness which slowly started to adjust, and a small silhouette can be seen in front of him. He steadied his breathing and stealthily walked toward the figure.
As soon as Kane got closer, the figure flinched, and a muffled moan came from its lips.
Hearing the moan Kane stopped.
'Scarlett?'
Soon a small light began to emit from the figure's hair. The dark cave began to light up dimly. The small figure was struggling to stand up from the ground, Kane looked a bit closer, and saw rope tied to her arms and legs. Her mouth was covered with a rag, and dried tears dirtied her face. She was half-naked, with bruises all over her body, only dirty pieces of cloth covering her privates.
Fear was engraved in her eyes as she looked at Kane.
She tried to speak, but the rag in her mouth made it impossible for her words to be coherent.
At this moment Kane is furious. His mind filled with nothing but malice toward the people who did this to her.
His eyes briefly locked with hers, and his anger melted immediately. He postured himself to show her that he was harmless. He crouched down and slowly stretched his right hand toward her.
Scarlett flinched and backed away from him, her hair dimmed. The cave darkened considerably and she looked at him cautiously.
Kane took his hand back. He sat down on the wet floor and looked at her gently, he opened his mouth and said.
"I won't hurt you... trust me."
His tone was soft and kind, but Scarlett was still wary of him. Kane sighed and began recalling Angela's lab. He saw various scrolls lying on the ground each with a spell. He sorted every scroll in his mind and quickly found a healing spell.
Kane paused for a moment and thought.
'Can I even use magic?'
He looked back at her bruised body and shook his head.
'It's better to try and fail than do nothing.'
Kane held his hand out in front of him, his palm pointed towards the ceiling. He closed his eyes then began to recall the healing spell and started citing the spell.
As soon as Kane started chanting, a dim orange symbol came out of his hand. It slowly started getting brighter, and soon it became solid. Kane opened his eyes, feeling sluggish.
A surprised look was on his face as he watch the symbol levitate on top of his hand.
Scarlett was watching everything from the beginning, and her wariness lowered.
Kane felt her guard go down and softly said.
"I promise... I promise I won't hurt you."
He looked at her waiting for her to respond.
Scarlett hesitated for a few moments, then nodded precariously.
Kane smiled at her warmly, then cast the spell on her.
Immediately the bruises on her arms vanished, and the slight wounds on her body disappeared.
Scarlett was surprised, and soon tears poured down her face.
Her eyes showed trust and gratitude. Feeling her guard finally subside, Kane approached her.
He began to untie the rope binding her arms and legs, then took the rag covering her mouth.
Scarlett's red hair began to emit more light, and the cave got warmer.
She looked at the benefactor in front of her and said.
"Thank you... thank you for saving me."
Scarlett cried, finally feeling relieved. Kane crouched down on the floor and placed his hand on top of her head.
"Don't worry... You're safe now."
She looked down and wept softly.
"Un..."
Kane thought to himself, 'What is going on? This doesn't feel like a memory, it's like I went back in time.'
Scarlett stopped crying and lifted herself off the ground, Kane removed his hand from her head and stood up next to her.
She looked at him with sunken eyes, then nervously asked him.
"Who are you?"
Kane was puzzled. 'I rescued her?'
Suddenly more memories flooded his head.
.
.
A large camp can be seen with humanoid beings stationed around tents. A makeshift cage was in the middle, with 20 women and children half-naked bound in rope.
Scarlett was sitting in front of the group, with a familiar woman sitting next to her.
A demon man was standing in front of the cage and grinned at the two women sitting in front.
His face looked deformed, with his eyes placed asymmetrically. Two large horns were at the side of his head, his mouth filled with tusk-like teeth, and his head was shaped like a distorted squash.
His body was large and grotesque, with moles nearly covering every orifice of his body. He was wearing nothing but a thin leather skirt, barely covering his deformed groin.
The women nearly screamed upon looking at him.
This only deepened the smile on his face, as he lustfully looked at the women maliciously.
He opened his mouth, and a grating like rocks crushing against gravel came out.
"Heh heh heh~, it seems we caught us some good ones didn't we, Gabriel?"
He was talking to a man right next to him. The man's looks were the complete opposite.
He had a chiseled jawline, with dark eyes, and radiant blue hair.
His body was muscular, tempered with experience. He was wearing a slim silver suit of armor, perfect for agility.
The man scoffed at the demon next to him.
"Keep your mouth shut. your presence is already enough."
"Heh heh heh~ Since I've done my end of the bargain, can I have some fun with one of these ladies?"
"I don't care, but don't touch these two. They're important, the higher-ups need them for a special ritual."
"What! Why? What do they need them for? I'm sure their virginity wouldn't matter."
"The higher gods require maiden blood, potent maiden blood. So if you dare touch one of these girls, half of hell will be razed to the ground."
"Tch* But you don't need the others right?"
"I don't care, they're worthless anyways."
The women and children's faces turned pale and cried mournfully.
The man glared at the crying children and growled at them. He released a bit of his power and the ground shook.
"Silence! You should be grateful, you even had a chance to see a god in front of you."
Scarlet and the woman next to her glared back at him.
Looking at the two women, having the audacity to go against him, a vicious smile crept on his face.
"Still hadn't had enough? Gore, do whatever, just make sure not to do too much."
The demon's smile widened to the point his cheeks nearly rose to his chin.
"HAHAHA, Gabriel you're the best! I'll gladly have fun with these ladies~"
The two women still didn't back down.
"I advise you to behave yourself, otherwise the rest would have to answer."
The two women finally backed down and retreated, but their glares were still filled with killing intent.
"Good. Gore, keep an eye out for these two, I have some 'business' to attend to."
"Heh heh, Gladly~"
Gabriel walked out of the camp and teleported somewhere else.
Gore looked inside the cage and licked his lips as drool dripped down his tusks.
Suddenly a large explosion erupted.
"General! One of the supply tents has been destroyed and prisoners escaped!"
His face distorted hideously, and veins popped out of his head.
"You incompetent bastards! You can't even protect mere mortal prisoners and let some fool destroy our base!"
Gore growled at the demon in front of him, then shook his head.
He faced the cage in front of him and said.
"Heh heh, just wait. I'll be back soon."
Gore walked toward the burning tents and commanded the soldiers around him.
Standing from a distance, a cloaked man was watching.
"I'll save you-"
His hand glowed like the horizon and a black sword appeared.
"Yura."
