Chereads / COLLEGE / Chapter 30 - Thirty

Chapter 30 - Thirty

I stopped the car when we got back to her apartment, it was almost six thirty pm. She got out of the car first.

I followed her up the stairs, I still had her car keys, she had gone up before I could lock the car and so I had to follow her.

When I got up, her apartment's door was already open, her roommate was waiting at the door.

"I should be going." I told Ann, handing over her car keys to her. I watched her go in with her roommate but when I was about to turn around and head downstairs, I heard her door open again.

She came out and when she was close enough to me, she hugged me and whispered in my left ear;

"Thanks for today." She smiled when she separated our hug and waved me goodbye before going back into her apartment. I have never been happier over a hug.

.....

I was back at my lodge, standing at the door and waiting for Dylan to open the door after I had knocked.

"A minute." I heard him say so I stopped knocking and put my hands in my pocket

for him when I realized that I didn't come back home with something for us to eat. Shit!

I wanted to turn around and go get us something; anything, but he(Dylan) opened the door.

"Jerry?" Dylan called me when I was about leaving. I turned around with a quirky smile."Thank God you are here, I'm Soo hungry."

Double shit.....

"I..... forgot to get us something." I thought I should tell him on time.

"You what?"

"I was on my way back out to get it just now."

"You are joking right? Please say you are joking."

"I'm not. Let me go get it."

"Why would you do this to me, here I was dreaming about what you would bring home and...."

"I know....I know, I'm sorry."

"Fine, I'll come with you, let's just go to a restaurant."

"Okay. I'm really very sorry." I was.

"Yeah, you are." He said locking the door.

"So where did you go?" He asked as we both trode down the stairs.

"Hmm?" I asked even though I heard him loud and clear, I was thinking of what to tell him, I sure wasn't telling him I was with Ann the whole time and that was why I forgot to get us dinner.

"I asked where you went earlier, I thought you would just go and return quickly but you came back when it's almost dark." He repeated his question more cumbersomely.

"Oh, I just went to the stationery store, I had to get some things for our upcoming architecture project."

"So where is it then?" He stopped walking not just because we had to wait for a cab to show up but to look at my hands also as he asked.

"I....uhm, I didn't buy any of the things I planned to get, they didn't have some of the things so I rather not buy any than buy half."

"But the campus stationery itself always have supplies."

"I don't know what happened today, but they asked me to come back some other day, then everything i need will be available."

"Okay." He shrugged while flagging down a school cab.

...

Later that night,

I was in bed, ready to sleep because I was tired as hell. It wasn't a lot I did today but it felt like it. My phone notification sound beep twice and the screen light came on. I stretched my hand and reached for it on the top of the drawer next to my bed.

I checked my notification block to know what it was but another beeping sound came again before I could swipe down like I wanted to.

"Are you mad about today?" It was a message, I quickly tapped on it wondering who it could be from. It seemed to be an unsaved number, could be Ann but what would I be mad at, today went great with her.

I opened the message on full screen and they were three messages sent from the number, u was right, it was an unsaved number but it wasn't Ann's, I knew her number.

"Heyy."

"It's me."

"Are you mad about today?"

"It's you who?" I typed back, I needed to know.

"Am I mad about what?"

"Who is this?"

"Promise you won't block me?" The person typed back.

"That depends." It really did.

"Come on, just say you promise?"

"I don't want to make a promise I can't keep."

"Fine." The person typed after a short while."If you block me, I'm just some rooms away." The moment I read that last text line, I felt like I now knew who it was. How did she get my number?

"Jessica?" I asked just to be sure and not just assume it was her.

"No." I read another message from this person. So, I was wrong with my guess, it wasn't Jessica from my lodge.

"So who am I chatting with?"

"It's me, Jessie." Was she serious? She just said no to been Jessica.

"But you said you weren't Jessica."

"That's because I already mentioned to you not to call me that."

"Call me Jessie."

No way she was serious. It is her, I was right all along. How on earth did she get my number?!

"Don't you wanna know how I got your phone number?" She texted after I didn't reply her message.

"Yeah, was about to ask that."

"How did you get my number?"

"Well....I got it from a friend of yours."

"Which friend is that?" I asked over the text because I didn't have many friends here yet. Although, I did have course mates I talked to, I don't think I can call them friends.

"Tony."

"Tony?"

"Yeah."

"So a guy named Tony gave you my number?" I decided to ask because I was sure I didn't know a Tony.

"Yeah."

"So you just asked him for my number and he gave it to you?"

"Yeah." She replied and I didn't even know what to text back. I thought she was lying about the whole Tony thing, not that I was sure but it seemed so.
