Flashback:
"Uh, sure. I'll come to check on you tomorrow then, alright?" His happy voice filled the air, and as he said, he did keep his promise and visited the next day. After assuring him I was alright, he stopped checking on me so often and we kind of fell out of touch.
Y/N POV (Age 14):
It wouldn't be that long until I saw him again, as the mission was announced by my crow.
"Mission! Mission! Caw! Accompany Tanjiro, Nezuko, Inosuke, Zenitsu, and the Sound Pillar, Uzui Tengen, on their new mission to the Entertainment District! Caw!"
Spiraling over my head, I beckoned the Kasugai crow down before giving it some food and releasing it back out into the skies.
Slinging my bag over my shoulder and securing the straps, I grabbed my sword and attached the holster to my hip before beginning to walk toward the meeting location. As the meeting place - The Butterfly Mansion - came into view, I could see that there was a man with white hair tied into a ponytail carrying Aoi. His hair reached his shoulders when tied up, and he had a headband over his forehead, decorated with red jewels and a few strings with beads hung off of it. Two swords were strapped to his back and you could see two red handles emerging over his shoulders.
With his bulky muscles, it took no effort for him to pick up Aoi and practically take her and some of the others hostage. Since they are not slayers, his vice was too strong and she couldn't wriggle her way out. Kanao stood watching in shock, as she didn't have her coin and had no clue what to do.
Aoi was desperately reaching her hand out towards Kanao who made up her mind and grabbed her outstretched hand before using all the strength she could summon to try and free Aoi from the man's grip. Her efforts were futile, however, as Aoi remained trapped. Now, I was about to step in until Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke showed up and prevented him from running off with Aoi.
It seems that Oyakata-sama was right about the mission involving Tanjiro, Zenitsu, Inosuke, and Nezuko as well since they seemed to have to follow along with the white head. No genius was needed to figure out that the man with his white hair tied back into a ponytail was the Sound Pillar, as his attitude gave it away, and having introduced himself as such only confirmed my suspicions.
Feeling as though it was my turn to introduce myself, I stepped up to the chaotic group before taking a deep breath and addressing them with a smooth voice.
"Hello, Uzui Tengen. Rengoku told me a lot about you before his.. passing. It's nice to meet you, my name's Y/N L/N."
His deep voice boomed through the air as a smile crawled its way onto his face. It was obvious that he had to have been close to Rengoku, the expression on his face radiated pain. To others who misunderstood, all they would see was a smile. "Nice to meet you, Y/N-san. You seem very.. flamboyant."
My eyebrows lowered themselves as my face contorted into a confused expression. "...Thanks?" Silence streaked the air until we realised other people were there too. "Ah, so I was told to come on a mission with you and the others, is that alright?"
I never thought it was possible, but his face lit up even more - he must have acquired this from Rengoku. "That's perfect!" With that, he released his vice on Aoi and she fell through the air, almost hitting the ground before she was saved by Tanjiro.
"Hey! Don't just drop her!" Tanjiro's protests went unheard as Uzui began to walk off into the distance.
As he got further and further away and realised no one was following, he turned back around to face me again. "Aren't you coming? We have a mission to complete. If you remain here, that wouldn't be very flamboyant."
Without regard for my answer, he continued on his stroll, picking up the pace more as if antagonising me to follow. So that's exactly what I did. Soon, two sets of footsteps filled the air, one quicker than the other. Then, two figures were seen walking side by side into the distance, leaving behind the four Slayers.
Waking up, the four continued to follow, bringing along the entropy that reigned supreme whenever they were around. I clearly recognised that this journey wasn't going to be a peaceful one, and nostalgia hit me hard when I remembered the last time I felt this way.
It was with Rengoku and this group of Slayers, my chaotic friends. Wherever they went, they seemed to bring disarray to anyone nearby. Demons would follow them as if they were bait dangling in front of their eyes, luring trouble - and occasionally death - towards them.
Usually, their wide range of personalities was enough to keep people away, however, they managed to catch my attention back then and that's why I was with them on the train. When I say they "caught my attention", I don't mean that they looked like people I'd socialise with, no, it was that they were so loud my head swiveled to the side of its own accord.
As we walked off, we brought this trouble with us now, as we headed towards the Entertainment District.
