Chapter 18 - ・°°・ Chapter 17 ・°°・

Warning/s: None.

Flashback:

Fortunately only Nezuko turned, or their scenario could be identical to that of Daki and her brother's, 'Gyuutaro', as he was now identified. It's upsetting to see how bad things could have gone wrong if Tanjiro had turned as well. Together Daki and Gyuutaro would prove to be strong demons, which explains their rank. Alone, Daki seemed too weak - despite the fact she easily flung me away.

With the upsetting thought in mind, I grabbed my sword, anticipating the arduous fight ahead.

Y/N POV (Age 14):

Timeskip (After the Battle):

Blood covered my body which was littered with cuts, my vision was slightly blurry as I looked across the destroyed landscape. Buildings were reduced to flaming piles of logs, no one was in sight. That was until I saw a... weird sight.

Nezuko had hoisted Tanjiro onto her shoulders and they ran past me. I sweat-dropped at the sight, as they ran past me and further into the ruins of the Entertainment District. Tanjiro didn't seem to be in a good condition, but he was doing worse than me because he was poisoned.

Forcing my body to stand, I leaned my weight onto my sword for support and started hobbling in the direction Nezuko and Tanjiro went. While walking, I focused on my hearing and picked up on Inosuke's faint heartbeat, Zenitsu passed out, and Uzui, whose heartbeat was almost gone.

Picking up the pace, I rushed towards Uzui's diminishing heartbeat arriving a few seconds after the siblings.

He was covered from head to toe in splotches of purple from the demon poison, while he was missing an arm from which he originally was profusely bleeding. Now, it had been wrapped in a tight bandage to prevent any more blood loss.

To say he looked awful was putting it nicely, his wives were distraught as Suma was balling her eyes out over his body. Hinatsuru and Makio were both clearly grieving, but they refrained from crying because Uzui wasn't dead. They cling onto the hope that he would survive - still - but Suma has half-heartedly accepted his fate.

Tearing up myself, I blinked to try to get rid of the tears. I refuse to let myself cry in front of him. Peculiarly, I see Nezuko out of the corner of my eye walk up to him with what seems to be curiosity. She places her hand on his arm and Uzui lights up in pink flames.

Disaster is apparent as Uzui's wives are devastated thinking that Uzui is now dead, but I - knowing Nezuko - am aware that she would never dare to kill Uzui, so I look on no matter how hard it may be. It's easy to tear your eyes away, but it becomes impossible when the demon poison leaves Uzui's body and he reclaims his usual pallor.

Relief washes over me as happiness washes over his wives. They hug him while Uzui seems... disappointed (?) that Nezuko wouldn't let him die a heroic death and had to save him instead. Tanjiro is relieved that he won't have to shield his sister from Suma, Hinatsuru, and Makio anymore and grateful that Uzui is alive.

Me? I'm glad that one of Rengoku's best friends is still alive, and that we will be able to get out of here with as few fatalities as possible.
