Chapter 17 - ・°°・ Chapter 16 ・°°・

Flashback:

Taking all the strength I could muster, I uttered out a sentence with the strongest voice I could find. "Don't lay a finger on her, or I will hurt you."

It seemed to be to no avail, as she punched me and Zenko / Zenitsu out of the room, complaining about how 'Pretty' I was and that it's 'Such a shame that it's being put to waste like this!'.

Black spots filled my vision before it all went black.

Y/N POV (Age 14):

Fighting a Uppermoon sure as hell wasn't easy, especially when you've woken up and no one is to be seen.

No Uppermoon, no Zenitsu / Zenko, so now what?

Track them down, that's what I'll do. Using one of my own sensing skills, particularly my hearing, I managed to pinpoint the locations of the others. Running over there, I took deep breaths to make sure to calm my body and prepare myself for the intense upcoming battle.

Tuning out everything around me except sound, I listened intently for some sliver of a heartbeat, just one that I recognised. It also allows me to check on their conditions, and make sure that none of them is fatally wounded and that we're all okay.

Relief washed over my body as I made sure they were all  - for the most part - alright, before speeding in the direction they were in. Desperately pumping my legs faster, my breathing helped to speed up my pace as I rushed to their aid.

Upon arrival, I approached the small house in the row, toward the sound of Tanjiro, Uzui, and Nezuko's heartbeat. Checking once more, I began running when I sensed Nezuko's heartbeat change to a more sinister one.

The entire inside was destroyed, with the ceiling (floor of the second floor) broken in the middle. Splinters stuck out of the large hole in the center as I went towards the upstairs. People were in fear downstairs, crouching around each other with their eyes wide and bulging with fear.

Some were crying, others were holding the ones dear to them in an embrace. Some soothing those upset, others being the comforter. Some were injured due to the - presumably - sudden damage, others unscathed. All were mentally scarred, some more than others.

I swiftly made my way to the second floor where Nezuko was being restrained by Tanjiro. A woman was in front of them on her knees, desperately clutching her bleeding wrist, trying to prevent the bleeding before it got worse.

Nezuko was fighting against Tanjiro to get to the poor soul, while Uzui stood by the side with his eyes on the Uppermoon 6 demon, whose name I found out was Daki.

Uzui leaped towards Daki as I reached for my sword before he beheaded her. Her head rolled across the floor before she let out an ear-splitting shriek. "ONII-CHAN!"

Watching in horror, a figure grew out of the back of her discarded body, his malnourished body looking as though it could barely function.

He was a relatively tall man of a somewhat muscular build with a black-dotted, pale greyish complexion. His anatomy was somewhat strange in the fact that his upper torso, arms, and legs were all extremely muscular while his waist was incredibly skinny, his pelvis jutting out at an unnatural angle.

He possessed thin green and red eyes, their sclera bright orange, that were slanted drastically downwards at the sides, the Kanji for Upper Rank (上弦 or

じょうげん, Jogen) and Six (陸 orろく, Roku) carved across them. His unruly black hair cut off sharply to a brighter Green around the crown of his head, worn messily styled with uneven bangs and several ahoges.

His body and face have noticeable ink-like markings in the form of black spots on his body, and a flowing water-like pattern on his face. Wearing no shirt, he only sported a pair of baggy blue pants and seven pieces of pattern red cloth to decorate his body. One large one was around his neck, and there were three smaller ones around each arm.

He clawed his own skin with jealousy when looking at Uzui, which quickly regenerated back in response. His sister's (presumably) cries filled the air as he went over to her, grabbing her head, before placing it on her body and wiping her tears away. Even if he was a demon, he was a good brother. Somewhat, he reminded me of Tanjiro and his sister, Nezuko. Except both of them were demons, whereas only Nezuko was in Tanjiro's situation.

Fortunately only Nezuko turned, or their scenario could be identical to that of Daki and her brother's, 'Gyuutaro', as he was now identified. It's upsetting to see how bad things could have gone wrong if Tanjiro had turned as well. Together Daki and Gyuutaro would prove to be strong demons, which explains their rank. Alone, Daki seemed too weak - despite the fact she easily flung me away.

With the upsetting thought in mind, I grabbed my sword, anticipating the arduous fight ahead.
