Chapter 16 - Chapter 14: The Final Day

Uwaaaaaa morning came and once again some how or another she found her way into my underground home, so just as always i packed up my things before sealing her within, only to have her manage to escape like it was nothing.

Today's the day!

The final day, once i go to sleep tonight I'll wake up in the real world once again, and now i feel stronger than ever.

My first metal castings have been completed a full copper short sword, and a one handed copper axe head with wooden handle.

My stores are now filled with Stone weapons and tools that i made last night that i can now sell off in the city to further my craft.

Though before i abandon my camp i need to seal all the kilns to prevent monsters from taking shelter in them.

Next up would be the "collecting" of my giant stone table, oven and forge.

My auto-collection ability is pretty strong if it's something that i've created i can store the entire thing without it being dismantled.

After finalizing my packing i took one last look around as the now barren ground that has been my home for close to near a week now.

Once that was complete i took off running in a direction i haven't gone in quite a few days now.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ah the roar of the crowds the stink of the city.

It was quite troublesome when i returned to the city after such a long amount of time, apparently the guards all thought i had died out in the wild, like so many other players had, i was made to go through an inspection to check various things about myself, from the color that would come up on a judgement orb, to the inherent color of my mana, next was a full body inspection to check out my gear and look for signs i was something other than the race i claimed.

Though through all of these checks i managed to obtain much need information and lore about this games setting.

The setting i heard from question the guards as my inspection was progressing stated that the world was for lack of a better word: circling the drain.

The Unholy Great Demon Lord had launched an invasion upon the world, and all but a few cities like this one remain standing in the face of his armies overwhelming power and unmerciless tactics.

The higher up of humanity performed the last ditch effort committing a vast portion of their war assets to bring forth human weapons capable of tipping the scales of the war in Humanities favor.

But the grim countenance of the guards faces reflected exactly what i had already known, of these summoned human weapons or heroes (aka us players) more than half have been wiped out in less than a week.

Though there was a slight glimmer of hope as of the players who lasted this long there were some who managed to go through multiple battles back to back and survive, get stronger and crave for more, now standing as true heroes and the vanguard of humanities military might.

Well that's all grand but that certainly doesn't include me, but it does explain a bit why i keep coming across semi-intelligent monsters that wander and attack in squads these are wandering forces of the demonlords army.

Though it does question the admins thought process since if there are many people who are like me and setup their restrictions to rigorously then we wont be able to split our sign in time, which will result in the heroes being present for a week, but then absent for another week before we can sign back in again, if the games AI is designed to recognize this then the human army will be at a severe disadvantage.

Since they need only hold back till we all are gone, then launch a massive assault only to withdrawn when the appointed time comes for our fated return.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With the checks finally completed i was allowed into the city, though it did tick me off that my stalker who tailed me into the city was let in without any further checks even though it had been days since she had returned.

Though when i questioned the gate guards they waved it off as an everyday occurrence.

Apparently this is a rolling event whenever this npc leaves a party, she'll keep falling to fated encounters with us players until the next chance comes along....

Sure wish i knew what my method of getting her to leave me alone was, simply telling her to really doesnt work, if anything she seem happy that i'm even talking to her not matter what it is im actually saying.

*Sigh*

Well whatever we're back in the city, it's time to do the side job of crafting and get rid of my mass produced creations to stock up on supplies and food ingredients so that i can dive right into my crafting encampment when i return.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

First off my weaponry, let's check in with the old man who was so happy to buy all my stone weapons and tools before.

Unloading all my stone axes, and knives even a couple of my now spare shovels netted me a nice couple lumps of iron and copper.

Of course they started of as a small pile of iron and copper coins, but well.... y'know my handicap activated and i was left with lumps of metal instead.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Next up was what i call the flea market, or perhaps the shopping district is better?

The entire street was lined with stands, and persons hawking their wares with naught but a blanket spread on the ground with their wares placed atop.

I wandered my way through until i came upon some grocer stalls where i bartered my fired unglazed pottery, i managed to acquire a nice sum of fruits, vegetables, and even meat in exchange for my pieces.

Next up i bartered my remaining pottery and wicker baskets for more iron and copper.

I did have a chance to acquire some silver but at the present time, i might be able to smelt silver but i don't have the tools required to perform jewel craft and make a decorative piece that could sell for large sums right now, so i opted for larger sums of copper and iron in it's place.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alright food check, metal check, all that i've got left to sell is charcoal and dirt but no one will by dirt.

Well we can split the sale of charcoal in two, the vast majority i will sell off to the smithies as a cheap form of coal with which to light their forges.

The latter half i will turn to activated charcoal which i can then taught as medicine, and beauty products.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The smithies were more than happy to purchase my charcoal declaring they could never have enough fuel for the fires in times of war, which resulted in me acquiring a good mass of metals i can now use next time to further my craft.

Equally as lucky i was granted use of their forge to create my activated charcoal, and even luckier still i managed to "use" something i hadn't created, as the forge master setup the pot with water, and a floating bowl i could drop my charcoal into before the lid was placed to steam the charcoal into activation, before, my auto collection would scoop it up but not destroying the vessel.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Then with a final shopping trip i show how my activated charcoal could be used, as a hand wash, toothpaste, and even facial scrub i walked away a fat cat... no not really but this was by far one of my most profitable sales of the day, it seems even at the end of the world beauty products are still a source of great income.

Though it was disturbing to see my stalker buying back some of my recently sold ware for herself.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With this my final day in game has come to an end, i'd accomplished all that i could, and even performed far better than i ever could have hoped on day 1 after entering this hell mode game.

Bedding down in the stables one more time, i wrapped myself in an animal pelt for warm unlike before, and drifted off to sleep.
