Chapter 5 - Giants Trial

'Ahhh'

The boy groaned in pain as he got up from the mountain of goblin bodies. He had rested for long enough and was now ready to continue killing goblins.

Thanks to the rest he had regained his health, unfortunately health and how tired he was did not seem to correlate.

Alas today would be a rough day for the boy, as the same events as the previous day repeated. The boy would go through the shaft find another village each progressively being more difficult to defeat.

Or more specifically, the villages had more and more red goblins and less and less green.

Eventually only red goblins remained, unfortunately by then the boy had increased his strength to deal with the progressive increase in difficulty.

Right this moment the boy stood before a staircase. The staircase was too long for him to see it's destination but he knew.

If he were to go by pattern, the staircase leads to more villages, with stronger goblins. The boy was now tired and frustrated, but with no way out as the stairs up would usually disappear after some time, he begrudgingly went down the stairs.

1 hour, 1 hour of nothing but stairs.

"These F$&king goblins I'll kill every one of you"

Cue the mass murder of goblins and just like that we are back. The boy sat on the cold cave floor, his back against the rigid shaft cave wall.

It had been three days since this hell started, and for those 3 days he had improved everything.

He had improved both his strength with the sword-

-and his base strength. It had all increased, but now he was too tired to care as he dozed off into the sleepscape.

24 hours later

The boys eyes fluttered open as he woke from his slumber.

He felt rejuvenated and fresh after a long and good sleep.

"Not bad but I should've kept some points for emergency situations"

The boy sighed at his lacking in planning skills. He turned towards his right and continued going down the shaft.

This shaft for some reason was abnormally long. 15 minutes of walking later he came upon the exit of the shaft.

However unlike what he was expecting, there was no village. The shaft left to a huge open cave that could easily fit a small city in.

However there was no city. Instead from the top of the cave hung 6 massive chains, at the ends of the chains there were lances big enough to be wielded by a giant.

How ironic the thing they were piercing was the thing that would use them. The lances pierced a giant that sat in the middle of the cave. They pierced him and also hooked into the ground assuring the prisoner would not escape.

The giant was not some mega goblin, he was just a giant. So that begs the question, what is a giant doing being kept captive here?

The boy though cautious approached the giant, he couldn't tell if it was ignoring his presence, unaware of it, or sleeping.

"H-Hello… hello?"

The boy called out to the giant and received no answer.

"Hey… are you… alive?"

<><> What does the child of abyss want from me? <><>

'Huh?'

"Child of abyss? Who are you? Why are you here all chained up like a beast?"

<><> I am the guardian of this treasure your honor <><>

"Treasure?"

<><> Yes, if you wish to obtain the treasure you must pass me trial your honor <><>

"Trail? Can I partake in your trial?"

<><> If it is your wish <><>

The ground shook as it split apart. From the ground rose and an earth golem.

Although the giant did not specify what the trial was it didn't take much to figure it out.

Kill the golem

The boy wasted no time as he rushed towards the golem at insane speed, he slashed at the golem with all his might.

Unfortunately due to the rusty sword being near destruction from the start and being overused since then.

One swing is all it took, and the sword shattered into millions of rusty pieces.

Unable to damage the golem with a broken sword the boy threw it away as he dashed again towards the golem, this time with his fists clenched.

He arrived at the golem again but this time as he was about to swing at it the golem swung its arm towards him.

The boy was unable to evade and didn't have the mastery to parry, and so he was launched away at great speeds eventually hitting the ground and coming to a stop.
