Chapter 30 - Shine of Nightfall

Once again, Jinghua and Bingwen had been left alone with each other. Yuming had gone to check on Hung Meifeng. "I'm surprised at how fast I can heal with Lady Hung's healing methods." Bingwen said, placing his hand on his bandaged chest. His robes covering his upper body had been removed due to the medical procedures done on him. "Only internally. Your organs had been split and her medical methods only heal big wounds including internal organ damage. But you are still badly wounded. I'm sorry...sorry I couldn't get to you intime." Jinghua said. Bingwen sat up but flinched, clenching his wound. Jinghua was right, he wasn't healed completely. "Thank you." Bingwen said, smiling. "There's no need to be sorry. I want to thank you for..saving me." Those words made something inside Jinghua burst. Jinghua turned away, his face the shade of a tomato. "Are you alright, Ning Cheng?" Bingwen asked, reaching for Jinghua's forehead but he quickly swerved Bingwen's hand. "I'm fine, really….Don't worry!" Jinghua stuttered. He was confused. He quickly calmed down as Hung Meifeng and Yuming returned but with another person. It was Yue Chengming.

Yue Chengming was the son and future clan leader of the Yue clan. He was also the twin brother of Yue Chengying. He hadn't started his travels yet or there had been some family affairs and conflicts he had to help with. Yue Chengming was stubborn and the complete polar opposite of his sister. He was assigned to help Yuming and Hung Meifeng.

When the three entered the room, Bingwen bowed from his bed. "No Need for etiquette, you're the injured one." Yue Chengming said, Yuming brought over the tray of food. But she looked more sad than before. Earlier she was happy and grateful but now her expression had completely changed. "Yuming, what happened to your smile?" Bingwen asked, Yuming took a seat next to Jinghua. "Well, I hate hiding things from you but I also don't want you to know this because it could hurt you even more." She said, Bingwen reached for her hand. "Just tell me, Jiejie." Bingwen said, smiling at her. He rarely called her Jiejie which made her happier. She was going to say that his memory was going to get worse over the years and his Chi would eventually disappear but hearing what Bingwen called her made her think positively again. It made her think that his memory would hold out and last for a little while longer. And that is exactly what she hoped for.

She smiled again and sighed. "It's nothing, Bojing, don't worry about it now." She hugged him again, gently. Yue Chengming cleared his throat. "The Yue temple is a place to view the beautiful sight of the city. If Yusheng Jin is well enough.." He said. Yuming turned to him. "I think that's a great Idea. Jinghua, why don't you go with him? Hung Meifeng and I have to go and do something down in the city." She said,

"S-Sure..I mean I don't see why not." Jinghua said. A short silence was upon the five of them until Hung Meifeng spoke up. "Right then. Yushneg Mei, we best be on our way then." She said,

Yue Chengming had left already, followed by Hung Meifeng and Yuming. Jinghua helped Bingwen out of the bed. He could walk fine, it was just the consistent pain of his chest area.

The temple had a balcony which was made for star gazing since Yue was the only place in the whole eastern region that was always night. Jinghua had helped Bingwen to the top. Once they made it, like Yue Chengming had said, the view was immaculate. The city was brightly lit with orange and red lanterns and the sky was filled with white and blue. A huge dark blue blanket of brightly lit orbs. And the only reason it was always night was because of the Yue clan. They specialize in astronomy and stars. They were hybrids so of course they were the ones controlling it all.

Jinghua and Bingwen stared into the endless abyss of stars. They leaned against the railing of the temple. Bingwen had never seen anything more wonderful before. "Shine of nightfall." Jinghua said. Bingwen turned to him, confused. "What did you say?"

Jinghua perked up. "Sorry, the sky reminded me of a poem my mother made up. She called it 'Shine Of Nightfall'. She used to tell it to me so I wouldn't be afraid of the dark." Bingwen chuckled.

"I'm serious. Every child had to have been afraid of the dark!" Jinghua said, Bingwen sighed. "I'm not making fun of you. It's just funny. But go ahead, continue with the poem." Jinghua stared out into the deep blue sky.

"Deep as the darkest night, only in the city of Yue. Stars that glow oh so bright, only at the temple of Yue. Little disciples are safe with the lights that glow, only in Yue. But the stars are the only lights that will show, only in Yue. Sleep, get rest, and wake when the sun comes. Only here will that happen and only night will be in Yue. Only in Yue. In Yue, the Shine Of Nightfall."
