Jinghua tended to Bingwen's wound with the herbs as Yuxuan Shi's body burned. He was supposed to be dead anyway. Bingwen grunted in pain as the herbs touched his wound. But the woman must have been a goddess because his wound closed up right away as if nothing was there. Just a scar was the only evidence. Bingwen was exhausted. His struggle to survive had waisted his energy. He closed his eyes to rest. Chisheng Wei came into the hut, retrieving her sword and wiping her tears. She then bowed to the two. "I apologize for my rude entrance. I am Chisheng Wei…but you probably already know that."
"What relationship did you have with him?" Jinghua asked. She clenched her fists again but quickly released them.
"Yuxuan Shi, before he became a Ning disciple, was supposed to be my husband. In this region, we don't have assigned marriages. Yuxuan Shi and I loved each other. I wanted to choose him. But he wanted to choose evil. I realize, yes, my family is dark but I felt that I could come out of that darkness. I thought he would join me. But he was too interested in killing. So he left me. He left the clan for your region. For your clan. And became your father's best disciple besides yourself. He told me he couldn't love me and I told him I would never kill. But he lied and I guess..so did I. He would die with a grin, not the face he gave me."
Her voice shook as she spoke. Her heart had been hurt. Who knew Yuxuan Shi knew how to love people. "I wish I paid attention to his intentions so I could understand and maybe try to stop them. Otherwise this wouldn't have happened. I'm sorry."
Jinghua knew that Chisheng Wei was nothing like her sister. She was more kind and thoughtful. "We should have never met." Chisheng Wei said, turning to stare at Yuxuan Shi's burning corpse. "We should have never been paired." She turned to leave but then stopped. A gust of wind blew inside the hut windows and doorway, making her dress flow, the flame pattern waving. "You should leave. My family hates outsiders like you two." She said,
"We have nowhere to go where the Ning clan disciples won't be far." Jinghua said, helping up Bingwen. "He needs rest. You can't just drag him around. The poor boys' lost his memory for damn sake. Give it a rest, Ning Longwei, you two aren't kids anymore." She said, She had called him by his given name. Longwei. Jinghua just remembered he trained with her when he was younger as well. "Don't talk about him that way, Meiling-"
"Don't call me that." She snapped. "We're not children either. So cut the shit." She left the hut. Jinghua let go of Bingwen and ran after her, grabbing her wrist. "Let go! What the hell!?" She yelled. "Don't just leave us. You have to at least do something, Chisheng Wei. You're more caring than this, I know it."
"What is your obsession, Longwei? It's either that boy or a girl. You're obsessed with keeping people to yourself. Or.." She hesitated. "Or are you like Xue Quan…" Jinghua's eyes widened and furiously, his ears turned red. "Why would you say that?"
"Because you're twenty-two years old, you should have already had intercourse and a bride! Ning Cheng, nobody can hold on to their virginity forever. Unless you're like Xue Quan. Are…you?" Stuttered Chisheng Wei. Jinghua was straight faced and annoyed. He turned to return to Bingwen's side. "Don't ignore the question, Longwei! I don't care what you are!"
"It's none of your business." Jinghua said coldly, picking up Bingwen. He then placed Bingwen on his back. Jinghua passed Chisheng Wei. The two didn't speak for a minute. But Chisheng Wei couldn't just leave them to wander on their own. "Fly to the Nuwa clan. They might be snakes and succubus-like women but trust me, there will be someone there to help you." Jinghua stopped after what she had said. He turned to her and smiled slightly. "Thank you, Chisheng Wei." He said, then hopping on his sword and flying towards the dark sky.
