The Nuwa clan was a clan only of women. There are many secrets of this clan. Many bad secrets. The Nuwa clan is specialized in martial arts and are said to be the best group of female cultivators. They were terrifying, intimidating. The clan leader, Madam Nuwa Mani, and her three daughters, Nuwa Luli, the future leader of the Nuwa clan, Jia, and Daiyu.
The wind was strong but that didn't keep Jinghua from continuing on. He only needed a safe place to stay. Or atleast to get farther away from the disciples his father was constantly sending out. Bingwen's arms wrapped around Jinghua's neck and his head lay on Jinghua's shoulder. At this point, Jinghua thought, it really did seem like he was Bingwen's royal guard. He had been protecting Bingwen so much. Maybe it was because the two had been separated for so long. Or maybe it was the fact that Jinghua wanted Bingwen to remember him faster.
Up ahead, Jinghua could see a heavily guarded fortress, a wall surrounding a town. There had to be some way to get inside. The Nuwa clan didn't let just anyone inside. But Jinghua was startled as a figure glided past him. She looked back at him and he realized it was Chisheng Wei. She had followed them. She was leading them inside.
The three reached the ground in the front of the fortress. Guards blocked the entry way for Jinghua but as Chisheng Wei came in front, the guards calmed. "I have business with one of the young mistresses of the clan. I have brought two guests with me, one is badly injured and needs a place to rest." Lied Chisheng Wei, and the guards let them through. The streets were busy. The Nuwa clan was almost all women besides the citizens of the town. Besides that, women were superior in the Nuwa clan. They believed they were above all, and at times, it did seem that was the case.
Chisheng Wei walked tall amongst the staring crowd. But Jinghua didn't care about the many eyes staring at him. He was only focused on getting Bingwen to a safer place. "This way, quickly. Suspicions are upon us." Chisheng Wei said, whilst one hand was placed on her sword. They were being watched from multiple angles. Watched by the eyes of the guards. But they quickly slipped into an alleyway hidden from the eyes that watched them. The town was full of them.
Chisheng Wei turned and entered through a curtain. Jinghua quickly followed. Inside was set up like a shrine. A table with incense and food. An old man lay in the corner of the 'Shrine', a Guqin at his feet. It looked untouched but had broken strings. Chisheng Wei approached the man and tapped him on the shoulder. "Master Yin Shu." She said and the man jerked awake. His voice was clear when he spoke. "Lady Chisheng? What brings you here? Aren't you supposed to be training?"
"No, Master, I..We just need a place to stay for a while." The man looked at Jinghua as he set Bingwen down on a bed against the wall of the 'Shrine'. The man's eyes opened wide as he stared at the two. "Why, your young master Ning of the northern Ning clan!" Said the man. Jinghua nodded. "And that boy," The man continued, "His crown..those symbols must mean he is of the Yusheng clan. Lady Chisheng, why have you brought these kin disciples?"
Chisheng Wei sighed, "This is my childhood master, Master Yin Shu. he taught the female disciples of my clan music. His music is said to have a spiritual cast when it is heard. It calms the minds of people and sometimes can brainwash them. But he has long retired now." She said, pointing out a flute hung upon the wall.
"I don't mind them staying as long as they don't mind my playing." Yin Shu said, plucking one of the strings on his Guqin. Jinghua shook his head. "We don't mind at all."
Yin Shu began playing a slow and soft melody, plucking each string carefully. His hands were quick but gentle. The sound was mellow. He didn't even look at what he was playing, his eyes were closed. He indeed was a master. Suddenly, footsteps outside the curtain could be heard. Jinghua and Chisheng Wei drew their swords and master Yin Shu stopped playing. And then the curtain slowly began to open.
