Chapter. 23
Back home
Days turned into weeks, Kiera still didn't budge. There was no visible sign of life in the girl, except for her breath which could still be seen if one looked closely.
Aaegon anxiously realized that a new moon had appeared. According to analyses, soon the sun will be plunged into complete darkness.
The forces of darkness will try to rule the world and make it their territory. The world is in danger. Aaegon knows, Kellen will need all the available power to fight the threat of darkness together.
After pondering for a while Aaegon made the decision to tell Keannan and Adam to leave now.
"Adam, Keennan! You should immediately go to Shinny City and give Joye sword to your father." Aaegon said to they both.
"But Master, what about Kiera? I won't leave her like this." Adam responded to his teacher's words with doubt. His heart hesitated, at a time like this Kiera was in desire of support.
"I understand your concern, but you also know, at a time like this Kiera shouldn't be near Joye Sword."
"Why is that, teacher?"
"You remember? Joye sword chose Kiera. They are the core of the sun's power and its shield, it will be very easy for the forces of darkness to find Kiera's whereabouts if she is near Joye Sword because they both will share their powerful signal."
"So for Kiera's safety, before she wakes up, keep the sword away from her so that Kiera's power is somewhat disguised in this Red Land," Aaegon explained to his two students.
Finally, with a heavy heart Adam and Keannan decided to follow what Aaegon suggested. They couldn't delay giving the Joye Sword to the person who currently possessed the highest power of the sun and that is Kellen.
They realized it was the best decision. Because right now, everyone must join together to keep this world safe. In addition, the two of them were determined to keep Kiera away from any harm.
On the other side, Adam also agrees with Aaegon. As long as Kiera's soul hadn't returned, it would be safer to stay in The Red Land. The land will protect her inhabitants with the magical power it has.
"Listen Kiera, you should come back soon, you idiot! This place misses you. Get up before I go home! Watch out, if until then you are still like this. I'll pick you up wherever you are." Adam tightly gripped Kiera's hand then he went to follow Keannan who had stepped first.
With the advancement of strength that Adam and Keannan had, a long journey that should have taken about a week, could be passed in only half the time.
On the fourth day, the two young men had arrived at the entrance gate of Shinny City. All the guards at the border gate were shocked and very happy when they recognized that one of the youths is Keannan, who had been missing weeks ago, had now suddenly returned home safe.
At that moment the leader of the border guard who was on duty at the gate sent a courier to Kellen to inform him of his son's return.
Everyone was surprised because shortly after Keannan's disappearance, even now, several hunters and trackers were still assigned to look for him, but they did not find the slightest sign of his whereabouts. The young man seemed to have disappeared into the earth.
Now, unexpectedly, Keannan returns home alone safely. He looked even fresher than before. Surprisingly again, in the city there were rumors that someone who had characteristics similar to Ackerley was rumored to have died at the hands of a girl from the descent of the moon.
From the guard post, Keannan took Adam straight to his house. He refused the request of the border guards who wanted to escort him to the Kellen residence. Keannan wants to show Adam the Shinny city. Keannan saw that Adam was still amazed at how different the atmosphere of Shinny Town was from the conditions outside the fort.
During his life, Adam saw only forests and valleys. Even when passing through the villages around Red Land, the people's houses there look far apart, unlike here.
Then, when they passed the so-called urban area, the houses were seen more closely packed and shabby. Small dark alleys look gaping between buildings with wooden walls that are dull and dirty with age.
Keannan's intention to let Adam see the face of Shinny's town also failed because all the townspeople had heard the news of Keannan's arrival. Inevitably, along the left and right of the road leading to his house, all clan members who live in the fort want to see direct evidence that Keannan is still alive.
Approaching the guesthouse occupied by the Keannan family, Margareth and Kellen, who were accompanied by Alfred, were also waiting for their arrival. Keannan's feet had not yet fully touched the ground, when Margareth, the woman who had given birth to him, came and took Keannan into her arms.
For a moment Keannan forgot his shame as a grown man. Keannan hugged his mother tightly, he didn't care that all eyes were on them.
A moment later, Kellen approached them. Margareth stepped aside as Kellen grabbed his son's shoulder firmly and shook him gently. Even the famously cold Kellen immediately embraced Keannan, even if only for a moment. He felt very grateful that his son had returned safely.
Not far behind Keannan, Adam witnessed Keannan's reunion with his family. Even if it was just a glance, Adam could see how much Keannan's parents loved the young man so much.
Adam secretly felt grateful that Kiera didn't come with them. He who is an outsider can feel Kiera's pain. The girl has never known her parents since birth, in contrast to her brother, Keannan, who has abundant love from both parents.
Adam looked away from the scene before him. He didn't realize Keannan who happened to be looking at him at that time and caught the expression on Adam's face.
Immediately, Keannan broke free from Kellen's embrace. This made Kellen raise an eyebrow. After seeing and living with Kiera, Keannan could understand what was going on in Adam's mind.
"Dad, this is my best friend, Adam. I have a lot of urgent things to tell you now."
"Of course Keannan, I also want to know what really happened. Let's talk inside and take Adam with you," said Keannan while patting Adam's shoulder.
For some reason, Kellen vaguely felt as if he recognized something in Adam. However, not knowing what it was, he finally dismissed the thought.
Before entering their house, Kellen and Keannan raised their hands to greet the crowd that was still in front of their guest house.
Alfred approached several members of the council who were also present. He informed them that a meeting would be held tomorrow morning so that all the citizens of the fort could find out what had really happened to Keannan.
