Chapter 29 - Gate the Darkness

Chapter 29

The Keeper

All of the chief representative clans were in a place that was just a large field in the center of Shinny town. High walls surrounded the place. Four pillars that are higher than the surrounding walls are seen flanking a wide flat stone in the form of a shiny black altar.

A series of natural stones that form a formation in the form of a chain of squares encircling the stone altar area. It takes really keen eyesight to see the existence of a stone chain embedded at the start of the floor which is made entirely of granite which has the power to bind all supernatural powers.

The surface of the stone altar in the middle of the room was so shiny that it seemed as if water had flooded its surface. The moon's shadow was seen floating above them. In that instant, Kiera could feel a powerful energy swirling from the direction of the stone altar like it was ready to strike in all directions.

The four people who Kiera thought were representatives or elders of each clan guardian of the universe sat on each of the pillars that flanked the altar stone. While Alfred, Adam, and Keannan sat in a row across from the altar stone facing the gate.

Those in the room looked tired. But, there was clearly relief painted on the faces of everyone who was in that place after successfully passing through the gripping night with the battle against the forces of darkness that almost took their souls a moment ago. Only luck allowed them all to keep their souls in place. They were actually a bit surprised because they could face the onslaught without any significant damage.

According to the order given by Kellen via Keannan, they started guarding the gates of darkness since the first day Kellen left a week ago.

Nothing serious had happened during the previous six days apart from the lower temperature in the room. But, nearing midnight last night, a sudden force appeared from the direction of the altar. One by one the souls that were in that place were almost dragged into the darkness which seemed to flood out from the middle of the stone altar and created various illusions to shake the defenses of the guards.

Adam who was holding the center of the stone chain formation was about to succumb to the dark forces within him, when a vision of the death of his parents when he was young, which he had never even remembered before, flashed in front of him. Luckily, he was able to wake up quickly.

Apparently, everyone in the room was being toyed with by using the dark side that existed within each of them.

Luckily, at that critical moment, a clear light suddenly appeared and moved to cover the entire surface of the altar with pure energy that stopped the forces of darkness from trying to break through the gate through the dark souls hidden in the hearts of every guard.

In an instant, consciousness returned to Adam and each of the stone altar guards. Apparently, the protector had come at the right time to save them.

"Thank you Sir! You came just in time otherwise our souls might have become a bridge for the darkness to open this gate." The Water Clan representative said as he saluted Kellen.

"Thank goodness we all survived and made it through the night. But, I wasn't the one who protected you. This is Kiera, my daughter, the true protector." Kellen said as he grabbed Kiera's shoulder to stand next to him.

"What does you mean?" Even when these questions came from the four guardians of the universe, they realized that the power that was sending warmth to all corners of the place apparently came from within the tall girl with hair resembling flames flowing from the top of the girl's head and down to wrap around her back.

Joye sword that was still emitting a bright light was still tightly gripped in the girl's hand. The whole body of the girl standing next to Kellen radiated light from deep within her.

The aura that surrounded the girl was even more powerful and could be felt by everyone in that place. There is no doubt, she is the protector. Even though there were still many questions running through the elders' minds, it was clear that relief dominated their feelings now.

"Soon the sun will rise, we can rest for a while. Later you can see our protector better." Kellen replied, while looking at his son who was sitting cross-legged between Adam and Alfred. But, Keannan seem looks even happier while he look at Kiera's existing.
