Chapter 25 - Mon Cheri

Astrid.

"Open the doors…" , he said as he showed them a small totem…

"Yes, My Lord.", the guard pressed his palm on large crystal orb shaped handle and the doorway open automatically.

Bright light from the luxurious chandeliers blinded my eyes; I closed my eyes a little and looked at the merry scene playing in the ballroom, filled with colorful people in their colorful costumes, all smiling, laughing, mingling and chiming, many of them, lovers, indulging in revelry on the dance floor, their shy gazes sticking to each other's face while some wavered to a new place.

It didn't still or stood quietly on my arrival, like I read in books… as I have preconceived but instead the scene turned into a low murmuring, while some places continued laughing.

My body tensed on its, own even though I had prepared for this moment, but still, my eyes were not prepared to look at the woman sitting on the helm of this entire drama.

In midst of my thoughts, I felt the hand resting on waist strengthening its grip, it was as if it was reassuring me or more like warning me and wanting me to move forward. I lightly took in a breath and raised my eyes to look at him, giving him a lovely smile. While my eyes conveyed, 'I am fine and let us move on.'

Vincent gazed at the woman in his arm, obviously she felt so scared but she pretended as if everything was alright. But this was better than having stage fright. He removed his arm from her waist and held her hand leading her down the stairs.

I descended the stairs with him leading the way and when we reached the last step, he turned to face me and lifted my hand to leave a kiss on back of my hand; my hand tingled where his lips met my skin and my heart skipped a beat. It was a weird feeling.

"Will you dance with me?", He asked me very politely while his amethyst eyes stared into my eyes.

I smiled back at him and said, "Of course, Mon Cheri"

Vincent was a little surprised when he saw her innocent, smiling face, she looked very beautiful when she smiled like this, and it was as if it came from her heart, not anything sarcastic or masked, it was pure. He held her hand and led her to the middle of the dance floor.

The people who were already dancing on the dance floor made space for us by themselves and the orchestra paced down the music they were playing. I placed my one hand on his shoulders and while my other rested on his wide palm, which could easily and completely fit mine into his own, whereas he rested his hand on my waist.

We slowly started swaying to the beat and he smoothly started leading me with his own rhythm, I followed him, instinctively, right to his footsteps, flowing with the trance.

Then, the orchestra masterfully transitioned into a paced up melody, it was tango music, its beats burned with increasing passion and desire. Everyone in the ballroom turned their attention towards the dance floor and the people dancing slowly withdrew from the dance floor.

Vincent raised his eyebrow and looked at me with a look of enquiry, 'do you want to leave?', though his eyes shined with a hidden… interest.

Astrid gave him a mischievous grin, raised her arms and bound them around his neck while bringing her body close to him and whispered, "My dear, Let's Dance."
