Chapter 27 - Moonstone Throne.

I knew nobody can see all of my face easily through the low curtains of my cocktail hat, so I also raised my lips a little in a shy smile, lowering, doing my job to be a perfect vase but when I looked at the faces which haunted me through the years of my misery, I almost spilled the blood thirst that simmered in the boiling broth of my conscious.

Cordelia… Even today, I am unable to escape from the shackles you installed in my mind. 'I ask myself, how does a person like you manage to smile even with the amount of all the sin you have committed.' I thought with amusement as I looked at her majestic figure sitting firmly on the gilded ice moonstone throne, the throne which was the left by the ancient ones for the land of Silfa.

She looked so kind, such a serene ruler, in her Silfian lilac dress and her crystal jewel crown, her proud eyes declared their sovereignty, her always smiling bright red lips. But only she knows her reality… heh…

My guts protested with a wave of nausea as I thought more about it, so I slowly leaned my body towards Vincent trying to lower my presence. Remember, right now, I was nothing but a vase, clinging to her owner.

"hey, Can I go and sit somewhere else, I am a little tired.", Astrid whispered to Vincent, as she couldn't bear this situation any longer.

"Sure, let me take you." He said.

But to my misfortune he led me towards the platform held few steps lower to the throne where all the minsters were sitting and where she was sitting… I guess these empty seats here were specially left for some special guests and representatives from the other territories and he also was one of them, of course he was the lord of Vildar. What was I thinking…

When we reached Vincent arrogantly sat in his position and pulled me to sit on his lap. Unexpectedly the worst was scenario wasn't the one I had imagined...

why? I was supposed to sit on his lap.

"Lord Vincent, I guess it was true, when they all rumored about your new amour.", a middle aged man with red hair spoke. He was a Theodore, Velcro Theodore, head of Theodore family, also the Head Minister of Silfian cohort.

"Exactly, it isn't very kind of your lordship to hide your lovely jewel from us; you should have introduced her to us yesterday, at the soiree, instead of going away for a secret rendezvous." Another voice joined speaking in a mocking tone.

Vincent lifted his eyes and looked at the people who were gossiping, pressured them with his gaze to lower their eyes, even when his lips always continued to maintain a charming small smile. He then shifted his gaze towards Cordelia and started his small talks her, while other people chimed in.

I felt his hand was gently placed on my exposed thigh. It was a little uncomfortable so I folded my knees a little and rested my head on his wide shoulders and lowered my lashes, covering my eyes, like a perfect doll…

Though I listened to every detail going around me, any minor information and behaviour can be used as a great asset. I also observed the mingling going in rest of the ballroom. Because I can act like a doll but I will never be someone's lifeless doll.
