Chereads / Healer Against Zombie Invasion / Chapter 35 - Her Secret Night Hunt

Chapter 35 - Her Secret Night Hunt

That night, Zayn decided to spend the night at Rico's temporary base, and Angie didn't mind it either. They had discussed their future plans before bed, just the two of them.

They would go to New Jersey with Rico's entourage to visit the super base that was currently used to be a stronghold of many humans from zombie invasions.

Angie initially disagreed, but Zayn persuaded her with the assurance they'd bring lots of cheese tomorrow. That didn't mean they would be there forever. The cheese cellar they found would still be safe there, and they could return after visiting the New Jersey base.

"..." Angie woke up from her sleep because she felt something and had to do something. She glanced at Zayn once to ensure he was still asleep, then got out of her sleeping bag and went up the stairs.

Someone on guard at the exit was surprised because this gorgeous girl suddenly came behind him without making the slightest noise. He then tried to understand what she wanted, but he wasn't so sure. "Oh, big sis Angie. Do you want to go out? It's dangerous outside. Uh, urgent business? Why not use the bathroom over there?"

"???" Angie looked back and shook her head. She immediately opened the exit and left.

"Well, there's a toilet outside too. Big bro Zayn might be worried when she's not around, so please come back soon. Rico and the others are on night vigil outside... She'll be fine, won't she?" The exit guard scratched his head and glanced outside. He could see Rico and the others but could no longer see Angie's presence.

He rushed to ask Rico. "Wait, where did she go? Rico, did you see big sis Angie? She just came out, probably wanted to go to the toilet, but she suddenly disappeared."

"She suddenly disappeared? Angie is a human, not a ghost. She probably just went to the toilet over there. Look, the door is closed." Rico pointed to the nearby toilet.

With that statement, the exit guard felt relieved and returned to his guard post.

No one noticed that the toilet door had been closed, and Angie had gone far from the log warehouse.

She used her agile movement to move fast and agile without making noise. A signal of something as if to make her get the urge to hunt immediately.

"..." Angie paused among the trees to look left and right. She scanned her surroundings with her deep yellow glowing feline eyes and tried to find out the exact location of her target that she felt.

As she spotted her target's location, she rushed there with movements like a soundless gust of wind.

"Human..." A human-like zombie muttered in a hoarse voice. He had been stalking the log warehouse from a distance for some time, looking for the best opportunity to attack.

"Blood... Brain..." Another human-like zombie muttered as he stood up with a staggering motion.

Their fiery red eyes gave off a hint of clarity, not the blank stares of the usual zombies. A bit of intelligence could also be seen from there, but with thick killing intent. They would hunt their prey with strategy, but something suddenly came behind them.

*Tap*

Angie jumped from the tree and landed perfectly. She immediately pointed her finger at one of the high-rank zombie intelligence without delay.

*Fwiu* *Splash*

A concentrated pressure penetrated that high-rank zombie's head. A finger-sized hole pierced his brain, and then a greenish-red flower bloomed under the dim moonlight, dealing a true terror to the surviving high-rank zombie.

*Thud*

A high-rank zombie fell to the ground, lifeless. His brain was crushed, and he died without knowing why or how it happened.

*Swissh*

Angie retracted her hand, and a yellow gem flew into her palm. She then glanced at the other high-rank zombie and raised her finger again.

*Fwiu*

A concentrated pressure was released again towards the last high-rank zombie's head.

Yet, the high-rank zombie tried his best to swiftly tilt his head to the side. The deadly attack only grazed his cheek, but the wound was a real deal to consider.

Yet, Angie unleashed a psychic attack again, but it only pierced the zombie's shoulder.

"Grr..." The high-rank zombie growled and intimidated. He clutched his broken shoulder in agony.

This human was unbelievably powerful. He had no chance of winning. Therefore, he decided to flee towards the log warehouse as quickly as possible.

"..." Angie pursed her lips. She felt displeased when her target managed to escape.

She looked at the yellow gem in her hand for a moment before cleaning it with the water. After that, she swallowed it before chasing after that high-rank zombie.

However, she was lost in the forest. Her target's aura was getting thinner, and she could no longer sense it. Therefore, she could only rely on her sense of smell and sight to follow the zombie blood trail on the ground.

"Mh-mm?" Zayn groped to the side, but he could only feel the sleeping bag beside him deflated. He opened his eyes and found Angie not there.

"Angie?" Zayn immediately went sober and propelled his body to sit down. He looked left and right, but there was no Angie around.

He never let her go too far from him, and this kind of situation never happened. Because of that, he felt extremely worried.

"Jim, have you seen Angie?" Zayn immediately asked a young man guarding the exit door.

"Big sis Angie? She went to the toilet outside." Jim opened the door and pointed to a dark toilet nearby.

"She went to the toilet?" Zayn felt a little doubtful. She didn't want to go far from him and always asked him to accompany her to the bathroom, even if it was to wash her face.

Something felt wrong, and he immediately checked the toilet in question.

Zayn knocked on the door, but it didn't close properly. When he checked inside, no one was there. His ominous premonition thickened, and his panic peaked.

"Did you see Angie? Is she still inside? Bandy!?" Zayn immediately asked several people around, but none could answer correctly. He then felt angry at the pervert old man whom Rico warned.

"You're so noisy, Zayn. We're resting here." Bandy rubbed his head while grumbling.

"Did you kidnap Angie?" Zayn grabbed Bandy's collar.

"Tch, even though she's so pretty and sexy, I'm not so stupid as to do something to her and make enemies with you. She's probably fingering herself in the bathroom over there. Check it out and don't bother me." Bandy clicked his tongue and pointed at the nearby bathroom.

Zayn squinted his eyes. Maybe, Bandy didn't know anything. He immediately checked the bathroom in question, but Angie wasn't there.

Perhaps Angie went to their hideout without him, or maybe she had already gotten lost in the woods. Dozens of bad scenarios crossed his mind.

"Angie didn't bring her daggers..." Zayn noticed Angie's daggers near her sleeping bag. He immediately grabbed his swords and Angie's daggers before rushing out.

"Zayn, do you need help finding Angie?" Rico offered to help.

"That's not necessary. You are and remain here for everyone. I am enough and will find Angie myself." Zayn refused and ran off towards the east while hoping Angie was okay.

Zayn had only run at least a mile or two from the log warehouse. He then noticed a white figure moving between the trees in an irregular direction.

He then closed his eyes for a moment and used his inner eye. He used his spiritual power to see in the dark, but he was immediately surprised to find the one he was looking for was there.

Angie was lost and confused while looking for her direction.

"Angie, what are you doing there? My heart almost stopped when I found you suddenly disappeared." Zayn rushed over to her.

"!!!" Angie gasped in surprise. She didn't expect Zayn to come for her while she was hunting. Her last target hadn't been found yet, but Zayn had already realized she was not nearby.

"We agreed to get some cheese in the morning, didn't we? Why go alone without me?" Zayn heaved a sigh of relief when he saw Angie was okay. He then gave her a big bear hug.

"..." Angie heaved a quiet sigh. She couldn't continue her hunt right now because she didn't want to show her real power and true self in front of Zayn due to some reasons and considerations. It was not the time yet.

However, she could only stay in Zayn's arms and enjoy her moment. She then looked up at his face. Zayn was so worried because of her.

*Bam* *Bam* *Bang*

Gunshots rang out from the direction of the log warehouse, startling Zayn and Angie. The quiet night suddenly became noisy and was tinged with several screams.
