Chapter 1 - Human's Newspaper.

"Apparently we feed on their blood Joha.."

"What world are you living in Nathaniel, they've always believed that. And where did you even find those papers??"

"According to what I've heard, it's called a newspaper Johaen." said Nathaniel. "I found it in the garden. It was stuck in one of the bushes, probably the wind blew it away and brought it here."

Nathaniel was always intrigued about how the humans perceived his kind. Did they believe he was a monster, or a killer hungry for blood, or if they thought all vampires were bats, or maybe garlic haters, all types of weird possibilities filled his interested head.

"Hey Nathe! We're going out for a snack, wanna join?" Johaen cheerfully asked leaning on the door frame of the hall entrance, with two of his friends of the neighborhood by his side.

"What in specific are you guys going to have again??" Nathaniel asked.

"Just the usual, Eastern Screech." Johaen answered while running his fingers in his golden hair pulling them back.

"I think I'm going to stay. As you are aware, not that big of a fan of owl's blood." Nathaniel denied courteously.

"As you wish... We can stop by the rooster shop if you wanna have some wings though?" Dael, one of the two friends asked out of courtesy.

"No need, you guys go ahead. I don't wanna delay the 'hunting' for you all." Nathaniel replied.

"Ok, See ya at the academy next week." Dael answered.

Now I know what one might wonder, Vamps eating flesh?? Well you heard that right. I'm aware of of many answers since I'm one as well. Just an old hag though. Not to mention but I've witnessed more deaths of vampires from all around the world than the Dongiana Burial Ground itself. Which obviously means births too. Anyway, we're going off topic.

Nathanial folded the humans' newspaper and kept it in the lower drawer of his cool black study table. No it's not a vampire thing, he just liked black. More like he was obsessed with black.

"Let's go out for some fresh air." Nathaniel said to himself stretching his long fingers after a deep sigh, shifting his attention away from the various books scattered open on his study table.

Nathaniel went down the huge stairway and left the house for a walk after locking the main gates. "Hope this clears my mind. To a certain extent at least..." he sighed again.

Nathaniel walked on the empty roads, resting his hands in the pockets of his black pant, feeling the cool breeze on his face with every long step of his.

Most of the roads were empty in the town. The reason being obvious, it was filled with all kinds of vampires, and with their powers mostly ambiguous to one another, one might easily get subjected to danger. As a result, in the dark nights, most vampires tend to shapeshift and preferred going out in their other forms if they could, concealing their original form.

Nathaniel was comfortable going out in his original form, he didn't pay much heed to dangers and all. Or maybe he wasn't uncomfortable with the concept of death.

After a long walk, he came across a shop called Flavaras. Nathaniel opened the glass door and a bell rang as the door closed on its own.

"Yes sir, how may I help you?" A man appeared abruptly out of nowhere, but not abrupt enough to startle Nathaniel.

"Do you have any peacock necks left?" Nathaniel asked in a direct tone.

"Left? Sir, We hardly get any customers who prefer peacock's flesh, it's a rare preference I believe." The attender informed as he opened the register placed on the counter and picked a pencil figured stick in his right hand.

"Why do you still keep it in the menu then?" Nathaniel inquired, while keeping his gaze on the menu book that he picked when he first entered, it was a thick book with all kinds of menus.

"You see, Flavaras has a reputation to maintain. Mr. Nathan." The attender answered.

"May I ask, how are you aware of my moniker 'sir' ?" Nathanial plainly inquired taking the opportunity of having a possibility for another matter to amuse himself with in this familiar situation that he used to come across often, he was also aware that it could be just another admirer.

"You are a famous vampire sir. We don't have many like you around." attender replied.

Well that's a new one, Nathaniel thought after hearing the reply, he couldn't understand what the man meant by vampires 'like him', but didn't feel interested enough to ask, as he was used to hearing similar things before.

"Would you like to have a can of peacock's blood too sir?"

"No thanks, I already had 3 bottles of blood in the past few days. I think that's a bit more than enough for the week." Nathanial denied.

"I see sir, you like to maintain your strength. A plate of peacock necks it is." The attender said as he wrote '1- Peacock necks' on the register with the golden stick. The text that he wrote appeared behind him on the order board placed on the wooden wall behind him.

"Actually sir, I would like a takeaway." Nathaniel corrected.

"Seems like I got mistaken, Sure sir." The attender said before crossing what he wrote earlier and rewriting the order.

The scribbled text disappeared from the board and the new order appeared.

After some time Nathaniel got his parcel and walked out of the place.

On his way back he munched on the crispy fried necks and just made his walk longer by taking another way home. He had second thoughts on whether or not to go on a hunt for fresh warm blood, but the taste of the crispy necks helped him curb his cravings.

You see, Vampires have a proper proportion of food they need, that obviously includes meat. Just like humans, we are an own kind. Blood is not the major source of our health though. How do I explain this? for instance, just like human body need fats, oils and sweet stuff in just a little amount, that's how blood would be to us. Yet we still need it, in order to survive.

But again as Humans eat sweets and fried stuff more than they even require, just out of cravings, taste and even addiction. Some of us do the same with blood.

We lost track again.

Moving on,

As Nathaniel reached home, he realized the main door was already unlocked. He swung the large door with his left leg as it swung open without any noise, only to see his entrance carpet stained with fresh BLOOD stains.
