Beneath the Ottawa Savings Bank remained the survivors of ODTA. They had spent the last 4 years underground awaiting the green light to return to the surface, reclaim their scorched homes and city.
The Ghost and his new elite unit "Spec Shadows", had been prepping to return to the surface, they'd been given the green light without public notification. The public would eventually figure out they'd be returning to the surface but not before the Spec Shadows confirmed it was safe to leave.
The shadows loaded up into the Ghost's modified 1989 Ford Bronco II ready to explore the surface, look for threats. As the drop gate opened, the little bronco rolled out onto the streets of ODTA seeing their city for the first time in four years. The crew drove down the empty streets, scaring off deer and other wildlife as they went, most of ODTA had been burnt to the ground, only a few buildings remained in stable condition. One of which was Ottawa Township Highschool, the old school was still standing as most of the area had been burnt to a shadowy crisp. As the bronco pulled up front, the camo quad was parked nearby, seems someone might have had the same idea.
The Spec Shadows moved inside, sweeping the lower floors first and continuing up the building. Skeletons littered the halls and class rooms, each room a grave for teens caught in the first death wave of the nuclear fire. Now the bones laid unmoved inside this once busy place. Moving outside, the team found the Ag and Auto Shop, inside of the Auto Shop, parts and burnt out lifts littered the ground. The Ghost signaled to gather the supplies and parts, while the others went into the Ag Shop, inside the Ag shop, there stood the man who came on the quad. He was wielding a 12-gauge shotgun, a Busch-Lite can is his vest pouch, and a cigarette in the corner of his mouth. He grinned and racked a shell into the chamber of the shotgun. "Must be my lucky day." He extended his hand to the Ghost and they shook hands. The "Busch Hunter" was one of the few friends the Ghost had before the first bombs fell. Together they swept the rest of the old high school grounds gathering supplies and equipment as they went the met back at the Bronco.
"Come back with us to town, we have people and we're in the process of rebuilding."
"Not sure man, got this sweet bunker on the farm, but with supplies low, not sure how long I can stay out there."
"See more reason to come back to town."
"Fine, I'll stick around a bit and see what we have going for us."
The team loads up and heads back to the center of town eager to rebuild.
