Matthew POV
"Daddy, I'm going to fall,"
"I'm by your side, you shouldn't think that way," I told my little sweetheart.
Her mother died while trying to give birth to her and since then she's been one of the people that I care for the most, although I have another woman now, who has given me a son, whom I also loved dearly.
I was teaching my daughter how to ride a horse today, it was her choice but now she seems scared so I'm trying to comfort her the best I can.
"But dad, the horse isn't steady, if it goes faster than this then I'll fall," Amanda said hugging the horse tightly as if her dear life depend on it, I was on the horse with her, I was just holding the horse by its reins, leading the horse towards our home,
"Ok, our lesson today ends here," I said removing her from the horse before giving her to Nanny Esther, who took her into the house.
my son came running to me holding a ball and was fully dressed for a volleyball game.
"Daddy, come let's go play volleyball," I didn't want to take the beautiful smile off his face and since I didn't have anything else to do today, I agreed which only made his smile grow wilder,
"But.., you'll have to wait for me to change up for the game,"
"Okay, but don't take too long or I won't be happy with you,"
"I promise," I told him placing my right hand on my chest while lifting the other hand, as he ran off to where we always played our games.
I laughed, shaking my head, after seeing how my son was happy, I love making them happy, It is the only thing that matters to me apart from my company.
I walked into the house, as one of my servants approached me, holding a glass of juice which I took gulping it down before handing the glass back to her, thanking her for the kind gesture,
I love to appreciate my workers, it is a habit my mom had, which I loved and would love my children to have, appreciating someone even for the smallest things, I was worried that with the way I have been spoiling them they would end up being self-centered and mean to others, but seems science was right about Gene,
blood was really thicker than water.
I saw Gael in the living room, he was reading from a big book, he seems to have sensed my presence as he looked up and quickly got up from where he was sitting.
"Good morning sir," he greeted me bowing his head low,
"Oh, you don't have to be so formal with me Gael," I told him, patting his shoulder.
He's been through a lot lately, his dad who was a childhood friend of mine had died in a car accident.
his crazy mother took his father's money, sold all his properties, and ran off with her lover, leaving Gael stranded with nothing, sometimes I still wonder if she really was Gael's mother for real, I can't understand why a mother who went through pains during childbearing will end up mishandling the child later.
Being that his father was a very good friend of mine and I couldn't possibly leave a poor eleven years old boy, who was innocent in all this, by himself, I took him in,
Although Linda, who is Samuel's mom and my wife after Amanda's mom died, was against the idea, asking me to send him to a foster home, she can't control me, am sure if Amanda's mom was here, she won't oppose the idea, she was the kindest woman, I have ever met, the main reason I fell in love with her,
"Samuel and I will be playing a volleyball game in the field, care to join us,"
"Ok," he said smiling, "Thanks," he said when I was about to leave.
"For everything,"
"No need, your father would have done more than that for me," I told him before leaving.
I took a shower, putting on my white shirt and shorts with my white sports shoe, before going to the field,
My son and Gael were already playing, throwing the ball toward each other.
"Dad, you're here finally,"
"Sorry if I took long, now who is on my team,"
"Gael and I are one team which leaves you all by yourself," my brother said choosing the side they would be staying on to play the game,
" Why do I get to be alone," I said pretending to be sad about it,
"Because you're an adult and we are kids,"
"That's not fair," I said pouting.
"To you, not us, right Gael," he asked Gael, Who didn't want to offend me or Samuel.
"I... think so," Gael said
shrugging his shoulder.
"Yeah...," happy Samuel shouted raising his hand for Gael to give him a high five, before shouting a start.
Although he and Gael weren't even good at it and they were playing the game wrongly too, I let them have all the fun by winning.
We played for like three hours before telling them how tired I am, promising to play with them another day. I knew they were sad but I won't be able to stand if I keep playing.
I waited for them to pack what they brought to the field before holding their hand as we walk home.
I called Nanny Esther to come and attend to them, walking towards my room when I saw Linda walking towards me, I knew it problem the moment I saw her walking towards me, our talk always ends up in an argument, she's always wanting something and loves dealing on frivolous things,
"What do you want this time Linda," I asked her anticipating myself for whatever is coming,
"Wow, it funny how you think you know me that well Matthew, it would have been a good sign but you don't know me at all...,"
"Then try and go straight to the point, I don't have time for this," I said turning to walk out,
"I also want to have some time with you," she blurted out folding her palms into a fist with her chest going up and down, she behaves like a child and I wonder if she knows she was an adult.
Just the thought of her not knowing made me laugh, shocking her and me, because I never knew I would laugh in front of her, especially during this time she feels hurt, it made me laugh harder.
"What are you laughing at," she asked me, stretching her eyeballs out while folding her hands.
"Because you're being childish,"
"I'm being childish for asking my husband to give me his love and attention, something he supposes to know without me asking.
I heave a sigh, shaking my head too, she always has a way of turning the blame on you, it is one of the best talents she has, continuing to argue with her will only lead to you blaming yourself and accepting her fact.
"Fine, how about next time, we can do whatever you want, but not right now I'm too tired," I said turning to get into my bedroom not until she start talking again,
"That's what you always say, the next time is either work or the kids and then I show up and it's always next time," she said starting to cry.
She suddenly forgot how she forced me to go shopping with her last week and forgot how I took her on a date at the beginning of this week,
"Why must you be so pathetic, comparing yourself with my job and your children," feeling very annoyed with her
"I have a child... not children, Amanda is not my child, she's the reason why you don't love me because she makes you think about that stupid dead woman Sandra,"
I used every power left in me to stop myself from going toward her so I will not strangle her, marrying her was the most regretful decision I have taken, the more I look at her, the more I want to beat her to a pulp, but I can't do that, so I walk into my room, locking the door so she won't be able to get in.
