Chapter 14 - The Mark of the Kannais

Alex Bayly took her time to ponder on all the things she had just heard. It sounded like a story to her.

"You don't believe me...?!" Zuck Danesworth commented as he studied her face.

Remembering what happened the last time he said that, Alex Bayly was scared, thinking about what he was going to do now to prove his point.

"Ahhhh, No, No, No No, I believe you... 100 percent" Alex Bayly said with her hands raised.

Zuck Danesworth looked at her in confusion."So are you agreeing to be my bride?"

"Let's hold that thought for now. " Alex Bayly moved back a little.

"There is just something that confuses me.." Alex Bayly continued speaking, "What makes you think that I am the Kannais?" She had a look of curiosity and confusion.

"You bear the mark on your neck. and just below your elbow. Jude has confirmed this" Zuck responded with certainty.

"What mark?" Alex Bayly was even more curious.

Zuck Danesworth didn't respond immediately, instead, he snapped his fingers, and almost immediately, a large mirror with a flat base was slid by a number of male servants who rushed over to his front.

After placing it there they moved away. Everything seemed to have been well rehearsed, occurring in a coordinated manner.

Alpha Zuck reached out and beckoned on Alex Bayly to come closer, which she was reluctant to do. Almost immediately, one of the maids who was watching the scene came forward to push Alex Bayly closer to Alpha Zuck.

Alex Bayly was caught completely off-guard and was shoved into the welcoming strong arms of Zuck Danesworth.

The alpha caught her gently and brought her closer to the mirror. He pointed to a black mark that depicted a flying small bird just underneath her chin. Then he took her hand and raised her sleeve beyond her elbow showing her another mark of the same type.

She couldn't remember ever getting a tattoo, she hated those, she also couldn't picture anytime she had ever known of having a birthmark, that must mean the mark appeared recently.

"Am I a Kannais?" She asked herself in confusion. It has never occurred to her like that. she wasn't sure what to make of it all.

She stared at Zuck Danesworth who was still holding onto her hand and there was an awkward silence between them.

"Uhm can I have my arm back?" Alex Bayly asked as she tried to move away from the alpha who still held on to her arm.

"Are you agreeing to marry me?" The Alpha responded with a question.

"I will need some time to think about it. Can you let me go, I need to find Azrael, I hope your boys haven't killed him." Alex Bayly remembered the boy who was staying with her.

She suddenly panicked wondering if he was still okay.

Alpha Zuck frowned, not liking the words uttered by Alex Bayly. He turned to the maid that stood close by and pointed. "Go and get me, Jude..."

"Yes, Alpha..." She bowed and ran in the opposite direction to fetch Jude Greystone.

A short while later she returned with Jude who was hurriedly following from behind.

"Master, You sent for me, ?!" Jude spoke as he reached the presence of Alpha Zuck Danesworth.

"Did you kill the friend of the Kannais?" Zuck Danesworth asked in an accusing tone.

"No sir, I didn't leave any blood trail as you commanded, I even sent Nolan to clean up after I left, but Nolan informed me that he didn't find anyone there," Jude responded with fear, scared by the look on his master's face.

"You will accompany her to look for her friend... and Make sure you find him in one piece, otherwise... Dismissed" After saying that the alpha walked away leaving Jude and Alex alone.

Jude looked at Alex Bayly and was unsure of how to address her. In the space of a few minutes of meeting his boss, she has gone from his plaything to someone more important than him. It was a huge leap and the chasm between them got wider and wider with every passing second.

"Shall we?" Jude said with the gesture of a slight bow and his hands pointing towards the exit. Alex ignored him and walked off.

In the Police station, Azrael was seated quietly, hoping that Alex Bayly was safe. For the first time, he hoped that the werewolf curse was real according to the words of the strange old man that visited him in school.

Although he was operating under an entirely different curse compared to Zuck Danesworth and the other wolves of Wolvescamp, it's still a. condition all the same.

Azrael Herrington wasn't born a werewolf like others however, he was destined to become one after he killed a person and triggered the curse, although it was accidental, however, that didn't stop the curse from being triggered, now he would become a werewolf after the first full moon appears.

Zuck Danesworth on the other hand suffers from the curse of Bianca Zul for what his father and his father's friends did to her beloved creature, the Bulguffeil, it was also a curse but a different kind of curse.

As Azrael was busy contemplating what to do, the crazy-looking woman to his left came close to him and sat by his side.

"I know I look crazy, but believe me, I'm not crazy, I got myself arrested because of you..." The woman spoke so sanely that the other man in the cell had to check if she hadn't been possessed.

Azrael just looked at her in confusion and didn't say anything. He has after all seen weirder things. Weirder things like the old man in white who just upped and vanished before his eyes, after dropping a bomb about the possibility of him becoming a werewolf and also his birth mother being one.

Azrael never knew much about his mother, his father was wealthy so he married two other wives and also employed maids to take care of his son so he wasn't lonely.

Azrael got tired of that life and decided to leave home for school and that was when things started going bad. He had to eventually be expelled from his second school before he found himself in Wolvescamp.

All Mr. Hayes Herrington, Azrael's father does, is to send him money, he doesn't worry about how he is doing after that. He feels money was enough to handle everything, whereas his son was going through the most difficult stage of his life.

Azrael turned to look at the woman in befuddlement and curiosity "What are you saying exactly?"
