"Madison" Lydian called, surging to where she sat with an injured Kontas's head on her lap.
"Lydian" she sobbed. She was a real mess.
"His temperature is normal, and he seems fine, which is unusual for someone who was hit with dark magic," he said, quite alarmed.
When he saw Kontas hit with the black magic, he thought of the worst thing that could happen to him, which didn't settle well with him.
'Even gods with their gate of energy open suffer terribly from the spell, then how come someone with his gate of energy locked seems unaffected from the spell?' Lydian asked himself as he looked skeptically at Madison.
"What did you do because this spell is a strong and dangerous spell for anybody to be ok after being hit by it"
"I didn't do anything," Madison answered convincingly.
"And why are you asking me this? Shouldn't you be thinking of helping me, so we can get him out of here and give him treatment?"
"You are right, let's treat him first". With that being agreed on by both of them, Madison helped Kontas onto Lydian's back as he carried him out of the forest.
*******
" He still hasn't woken up yet?" Lydian asked as he entered Kontas's room.
"Yes," Miss Semet responded softly as she cleaned away the sweat that was trailing down Kontas's face.
It has been a month since Kontas was knocked down by black magic, and since then, he has been unconscious.
The royal physicians had run tests on him, and it strongly suggested that he was perfectly fine for someone who was hit by black magic.
Madison didn't care about anything Lydian and Miss Semet were saying, her focus was solely on Kontas.
But what Lydian said next, got her attention.
"They have decided on Kontas's punishment"
"What punishment?" she asked, stunned.
"For taking a life when he was not in the battleground", Miss Semet said, noting all her actions.
"And why should he be punished for that? I mean that was self-defense, if he hadn't killed those monsters, he would have been killed" Madison impeached getting pissed.
She didn't understand why they were all after Kontas, what did he ever do to them?
"They don't care about that, my child. He broke a rule by taking a life when he wasn't at the battlefield which was the only place he is allowed to'' Miss Semet explained trying to make her understand how things were in Begtuok, but being stubborn as always, Madison didn't pay any attention to what she was saying, instead, she asked,
"And who made such an obnoxious rule, and only for Kontas for that matter?" Madison yelled, causing Lydian to block his ears with his hand with the fear that his eardrum will get damaged.
"Calm down Madison, it was a rule made by the goddess, so there is nothing we can do about it, "Lydian said, but Madison wasn't taking any of that.
"What punishment did they give him?". Madison asked.
"He will be flogged in front of the whole gods and goddesses" Miss Semet replied.
"Crazy bastards" Madison cursed as she walked out of the room, ignoring both Miss Semet and Lydian.
"Let her be Lydian, she is stronger than you think," Miss Semet said, stopping Lydian from going after her.
The royals were all in the throne room when Madison angrily banged into where they were.
She has had enough of their nonchalant attitude, and she was going to give them a piece of her mind.
"What did Kontas ever do to you, why won't you leave him alone?" Madison yelled scowling at King Varog ignoring the wide eyes and gasps she was receiving.
As far as she was concerned, they could all go to hell.
"Madison, what's wrong with you?" Nazim asked standing in front of her, but Madison didn't even pay attention to him, she just went straight to where king Varog was sitting and said,
"I asked you a question and am still waiting for my answer"
"And who are you to order me around? Anyway if you want to know, he broke a rule that was given by the goddess, so he deserves to be punished"
"Then bring that outrageous goddess to me, let me teach her one thing or two"
"Madison!" Hezra and Tez yell at the same time. They don't know what has come over her, but she was crossing the line.
"I won't let you insult the great goddess, it is by her mercy that you are still in this land and alive" King Varog reprimanded.
But he wasn't expecting Madison's reaction, it was like she didn't care one bit.
"Wow! I'm honored! Do I need to roll on the floor?" She asked sarcastically, making Hezra chuckle.
"I am warning you, human…."
"No, I am warning King Varog, if you don't want to be on my list of people I want to hunt for life, you better leave Kontas alone" Madison warned.
King Varog had enough of Madison, he stood up from his throne and walked down to where Madison was standing.
Looking at her, he asked, "And what will you do if I don't leave him?"
"You will regret it, even your so-called goddess won't be able to save you from my rage".
"Father" all the princes called at the same time as they felt their father's anger boiling.
The atmosphere and energy in the room suddenly changed.
They were all worried about what their
Father will go to Madison, and they pray that there could be a distraction at that very moment.
And fate being by their side, the door to the throne room opened and Kontas walked Inside, looking as healthy as ever.
His energy was bumming all around and nobody has to tell them that his gate of energy has been opened.
Everybody was taken aback, especially King Varog who felt so uneasy.
Madison was the only person who was not surprised about the energy Kontas was releasing. Instead, she was proud.
"When did you wake up?" Madison asked happily as she ran to him and hugged him in front of everyone.
"Not quite long. I thought you would be around when I woke up?" Kontas said, hugging her back.
Everyone was shocked, when did they both get so close like that?
"Are we feeling Kontas' energy or their chemistry?" Tez asked, grinning.
"I bet it is both,"Hezra replied.
"How do you think Nazim is feeling now? You know how much he also adores her" Hezra frowned.
They both know that Nazim also has feelings for Madison, and so does Kontas.
It will be messy for Madison if she is asked to choose.
"Should we turn and check how he is doing?"Tez suggested unsure.
"I think that is a good idea". As they both turned to look at Nazim who was standing at their back, they both nearly peed on their pants.
His face was filled with venom that made both Tez and Hezra shiver out of fear.
"We shouldn't have checked," said Tez.
"You are right, we shouldn't have. gods my heart nearly jumped out from my chest"
Hezra nodded in agreement, putting his hand to his racing heart.
