"Alright alright... Seems like this general isn't yet familiar with his name. No problem, I can understand." Adam played with a smile.
"So back to where we were. James, you can take him there." Adam changed back to the cold and fearful man as he ordered James to take Chris away.
"Do not count your eggs before they hatch Adam. I can't remember anyone who took away my family without my consent. " Max said as he became serious also. Except that he still had that devilish smile on his face.
"Jenis..." Max called out and two men appeared before him in a couple of seconds.
"So I guess my team has to take control of this case before the truth comes to light." Max said aloud as he walked towards Jenis.
"Last night was really a shady night and I'm surprised most CCTV's weren't working at that particular period. " He continued as he began to move around Adam.
"I was able to collect some well hidden evidence the police weren't able to access. But it still isn't enough as the puzzle isn't yet complete." Max stopped as he walked towards Andrew who was hiding in the shadow of the police.
"You both went to the club as usual but one thing was off. My brother became so drunk that he couldn't even walk properly but you on the other hand was perfectly okay." He said while looking straight into Andrew's eyes.
"I didn't have any drink last night." Andrew argued without a change in his expression.
"Alright. He didn't have any drink last night. Let's take it like that." Max said as he stepped back.
"But just now, I could still pick a stench of alcohol in your breadth so are you telling me you had a drink when the police were on your tail??" Max asked provocatively.
Andrew revealed some disbelief in his eyes as he stared at Max. But he changed his expression so quickly but it didn't escape the watchful eyes of Max.
"I said I didn't drink last night. But I had a little this morning." Andrew said while staring straight at Max.
"It's alright." Max said as he walked back to Adam. "I'm sincerely sorry for your boy but what you think isn't really what transpired last night." He began with a straight face.
"I collected some stuff this morning but it's obviously not enough to convince you so I can only request for time."
"General... Please believe me when I say my brother is innocent. Just give me time and I'll deliver you your scape goat." Max said as he stared intently at general Ahmed.
"Alright son. I'll trust you on this one. But one week is all I have for you and after that, I'll just have to take your brother with me." General Ahmed said to Max with a hint of admiration in his voice.
"And congratulations boy, you are one of a kind you know, a general at such a young age. 'sigh' Keep doing what you do best." General Ahmed said. He gave Max a pat on his shoulder before he left with the police with Andrew hiding in their midst.
James also left after them, which leaves Mr Mitchell and his sons, together with Adam and Jenis, with the bulky man by the side alone in the corridor.
"I understand your pain Adam, but you got to understand me when I say I didn't cause your boy's accident." Chris spoke.
But Adam didn't even throw a glance at him as he looked at Max intently before he went into Silas ward.
"Max..." Mr Mitchell called out.
"Yes Dad.." Max embraced Mr Mitchell while his hair was ruffled by him.
"Congratulations my boy. I'm so proud of you." Mr Mitchell said happily.
"Chris..." Chris was about to leave when Monica who just came out of the ward called out.
"I believe you Chris, I know it wasn't you." Monica said while in his arms.
"Thanks Monica. I missed you while you were away." He said as he reluctantly ended their hug when he felt chills down his spine.
"I should go back home Monica. Talk to you later." Chris said. He threw a long glance at Max who nodded at him before he departed.
"Please believe in him dad. I don't think he could do such a thing." Monica said softly as she leaned on him.
"Come here sweetheart. I'm sorry for the way I spoke this morning. I hope you aren't mad at me..." Mr Mitchell patted her hair softly as he also said in a soft voice.
"I'm not dad. I understand how you felt." she replied.
"So brother, is there any news you haven't told me yet..." Monica asked Max with a bright smile.
"Um... is there??" He questioned with raised brows.
"Dad..." Monica called out with pouted lips. "Don't mind him child, he is being naughty right now." Mr Mitchell said as he nudged Max with his shoulder.
"It isn't official yet, but I'm going to become a general real soon. The ceremony is only a month away." He said with a smile before Monica suddenly jumped on him.
"That's great news!! congrats Max. I'm proud of you." Monica exclaimed while jumping.
'Why does she always behave like a little cute pumpkin' Max smiled inwardly.
"Monica?" A doubtful voice called out from behind.
"Marco?! what are you doing here??" Monica asked in surprise.
"I'm here for my pal who had been injured. He's name is Si-"
"Silas?!" Monica exclaimed.
" Yes.. how did you---"
"Wait... don't tell me..."
" My brother was wrongfully accused. Nothing happens to him until concrete evidence is provided." Max said with his voice back to normal.
"I see..." Marco said thoughtfully.
"Dad, Monica, I'll be on my way now. see you at home." Max hugged Monica a little tighter than usual before he departed.
"Mr Mitchell... it's my pleasure to see you." Marco approached Mr Mitchell and greeted him respectfully. Monica saw that the two men were about to discuss something important so she excused herself and went back home.
When she arrived, her mother's friend was backing her and it looks like she was crying while talking to Sam.
"Mom..." Monica called out as she hugged Sam. The woman who was crying went stiff at the sound of Monica's voice and kept on staring at her.
"And this is-.." Monica was about asking whose friend of Sam was present but she stopped midway on seeing the face before her.
