Chapter 56 - Chapter 55: They Meet Again

"Monica... "she called out again. Monica finally got up and went to the bathroom to wash her face. She came back moments later before they descended the stairs and headed for the dining room.

Sam and Mr Mitchell were already seated at the dining room when they arrived.

"Mom... Dad..." Monica greeted as she sat opposite Sam. "Where's Max and Chris?" Monica asked when seated.

"They are at Max's villa. They will be back early tomorrow." Sam said as the chef served the dishes.

"Alright. Let's eat." Monica said as they dug in their meals.

Adam just arrived home after leaving the hospital when he knocked into Priya. "Sir Adam..." Priya greeted.

"How are you feeling now?" Adam asked with concern on his face.

"I'm better now. How... How is Silas sir??" Priya asked worriedly.

"He's okay now. He's just been crippled... for the time being" Adam said with mischief in his voice.

"I'm so sorry sir. Last night..." Priya started with teary eyes.

"You don't need to say anymore nor do you need to apologize. It wasn't your fault so stop blaming yourself okay..." Adam cut her short as he stared deeply into her eyes.

"Okay... Okay sir." Priya said as she cleaned her teary eyes.

"They are going to be at the hospital for a few days so you can go stay with your mother. I heard she's in the city so my guess is that she's at your apartment." Adam said which obviously put a smile on Priya's face.

"My Mom is in country M??!" She exclaimed excitedly.

"Yes " Adam replied.

"If you want I can send a driver with you." Adam added.

"It's alright. I can manage on my own. Thank you sir, I'll be on my way." Priya said as she turned to face the stairs.

"Priya..." Adam's voice stopped her advancement.

"You can call me by my name. Don't be so formal around me." Adam said when she turned sideways.

"Okay... Adam." She said before hurrying off. She came out of her room with a small bag filled with a few of her necessities as she already had a lot over at her apartment.

When she came down, Adam was nowhere to be seen so she could only leave without saying goodbye. It was already after 10 in the night when she walked out of the estate and she found it hard to find a taxi at this hour.

She was about to cross over to the other side of the road when a red sports car suddenly drove past her. But luckily, it stopped before any damage could be done. But it didn't stop her small bag from flying out of her hands.

"I'm so sorry. Let me help you with that." Chris said apologetically immediately he got down from the car. He bent down and helped the young lady organize her bag.

"Chris?" Priya called out softly. Chris froze the instant he heard her voice. Was he dreaming again?? How could he be hearing Priya's voice when the last time they met face to face was 8 years ago.

But when he looked up, all doubt was dispersed on seeing that face of hers just like he remembers. Her features were still as stunning as ever but they seem more mature. She still had that perfect shape of lip and her eyes were still as bright as moonlight.

her nose then her hair... Chris was thrilled to see her again.

Priya on the other hand was also left in a daze looking at this manly figure before her. She had missed him so much over the years that she even came all the way to country M in search of him.

She's been hearing news about him lately but could never gather the courage to seek him or approach him face to face. After she finished her studies, she used the opportunity to further her career in country M, and by accident met Silas who became overly attached to her.

She was employed by the Benjones to be a part-time caretaker for him and she agreed wholeheartedly seeing how much of a darling Silas was.

"Pr-Priya... It's really you." Chris spoke after he regained his bearing but he still hasn't regained his tone.

"It's been so long Chris." Priya said as she embraced him. Chris wholeheartedly opened up and they hugged each other for a long while before reluctantly parting.

"Ohh... sorry about this." Chris quickly picked everything inside her bag before he assisted Priya to stand up.

"It's okay... so where are you going to... or rather coming from this late??" Priya questioned.

"I'm heading home. I was at Max's place." He explained.

'Ohh...' that was the only reply Priya gave as the atmosphere became quiet.

"Are you heading somewhere?? I can drop you off on my way home." Chris spoke.

"I'm going to my apartment. My mother is there." Priya responded.

"That's fine, I can take you there. Get in." Chris then opened the trunk of the car then after her things were arranged properly, she got into the passengers seat and they zoomed off.

Priya had been resting since after the incident so she had no clue on who caused Silas accident. So she didn't know Chris was the biggest suspect, and she wouldn't have done anything different even if she knew.

The ride back to Priya's apartment was a really quiet one as no one spoke a word to the other. They were both contemplating on how to start the discussion but nothing came out till Chris pulled the car by the side of the road.

It was then Priya realized they were at the front of her apartment and it was time to get off.

After struggling for a bit, she decided to speak up. "It's been so long since we met Chris. Don't you have anything to ask me?" She bit her lips immediately she finished her sentence.

"Can... Can we meet up some other day. I mean go out for coffee or something and you know..." Chris replied as he tried to arrange his words.

"That would be nice. Catch you later." Priya said before she got out of the car.

Chris waited for a while before he turned on the car and drove off.

When Priya entered the apartment, the first thing that caught her attention was her mom sleeping on the sofa with the faint scent of food wafting from the kitchen.

It seems it hasn't been long since she made them as the scent of the dishes were still fresh.
