Joken ran out of the house with the letter, racing to the camp.
Cadin, heading upstairs, saw a familiar colleague.
"Your camp is rather interesting, I gained a foothold here so these people shall be under us in due time."
"Is there anything you require?"
"Oh none at all, simply wish to visit my candidate's very own camp. I do like the arrangement, a whole group of prisoners clumped up to form a camp, an interesting set up, the camp shall be under your wing in a few days or so once the corruption sets in. And before I leave, what is this about attacking a camp?"
"A camp was found, we will take it and claim it for ourselves." The demon began snickering with it's distorted voice.
"Then this is your chance. Though, I am rather interested that you did not simply speak to them first. Why is that?" Cadin turned to the demon with an emotionless face.
"Because war is always the faster resolution. All that needs to be done is to beat the enemy, suffer less deaths, and take as much as we could." Cadin replied.
"You interest me greatly Cadin, i do like your approach. Very well, best of luck, and may many successful campaigns await you." With everything already said, the demon disappeared, leaving Cadin.
While checking his armor and weapon, he heard the door swing open.
Downstairs, Joken stood just in front of the door, panting after running for some time.
"The...Soldiers....Are....Ready...At quick request my lord." He spoke through exasperated breaths.
The two headed out, the sun above had already reached the middle of the sky, many people continued working but took breaks inside their tents from the heat.
Outside the gate, a small army of soldiers numbering half a hundred stood, donning metal and studded armor, their swords were short but nearly new in look, carrying small round shields painted with different colors and patterns.
"Hopefully this is enough for that camp, especially with how cavalry works, as long as I win, it does not matter if they die anyway, they're not my men." Cadin thought to himself while staring at the sent army.
Joken stood next to him, waiting for him to speak and begin setting off.
Stepping forward a few steps, Cadin cleared his throat.
"Men, as called forth by your leaders, we shall fight a tribe that borders us, and just like many that have bordered our camps before, their army wields great power and seeks to destroy us, we must prevent this from ever happening, for with the weapons they have, they shall lay waste to all our homes!" Cadin spoke with a voice of passion and anger, the faces of the soldiers were filled with hatred and shock, they could not believe such words, but feared their homes' destruction.
"Thus, we shall not wait until the time they will attack, we must seek to subjugate them, to bring them to heel and under us, so they may never threaten us in the future!" The soldiers let out a shout upon the speech ending, ready to fight, prepared to take out the camp.
"Hopefully fear mongering works on them." Finishing talking, Cadin, with Joken set off back to the camp, ready to fight with a motivated army behind them.
Through dense trees, they heard the noise again. The loud steps of the horses stopped their march, echoing through the entire area. The soldiers felt fear while the stomps continued on.
"You hear those steps? With them are creatures that may lay waste to our entire united alliance of tribes in a single day." Cadin spoke to the men with a more quiet tone.
As the noise of the steps became more faint, the army began moving, quicker but quieter on high alert.
In long minutes of endless alert for a possible ambush. The army found the camp, larger and further brightened by fires from the inside as horses stood visibly from the gate. Soldiers continued standing in front of the gate, unaware of their presence.
With the camp just in front of them, Cadin moved back to his soldiers.
"Surround the camp and hide until those barbarians run out, knock down any that retreat and do not kill any of them. If they refuse to falter, then i shall shout for you to take them out from behind." The soldiers quickly understood the order, stepping back from the bushes at the front, they began moving into position.
In a few minutes of quietly maneuvering around, the soldiers were all in position.
"Back to fighting again, I'm starting to enjoy killing, like my mercenary days." Cadin looked around the camp from his position.
"Repurposing this camp will be far better than burning it, I should try causing as little damage to it as possible, only the fighters are my priority. Hopefully they break quickly."
Cadin took out his bow, readying an arrow for the guards' heads. Fully pulled and ready, Cadin let it loose.
The arrow slammed directly into the man's head, sending him down without a sound. Turning to the other, before he could respond, an arrow struck the side of his head, killing him immediately.
"Still got it."
With both down, Cadin walked inside the camp, not filled with fear, only the desire of conquering.
"Only ones that seem like higher ups, or try to fill them with fear by doing some brutal killing, should not be too hard."
The camp inside was littered with large tents, open and showing beds among other equipment. Fighters stood around multiple campfires cooking their food, chatting with one another.
Cadin readied his sword, looking around, the fighters were mostly near the fires, a few slept.
A small fenced off area stood near a section of a wall, tied to a pole were the horses, neighing and eating food given to them.
Among those who sat, one wore a helmet of a wolf's head while the rest merely had simple metal or leather helmets on, eating with his fellow fighters. A grin slowly grew on Cadin's face.
"A whole group of people to be subjugated under me."
