Chapter 1 - A New Heir

Birmingham City, at the Coder mansion…

The servants were up and about preparing for Mayor Syven Coder's return from his three-week business trip from London.

The Mayor was scheduled to arrive later that evening with his right hand man Kimyoung Jin.

"Make sure everything is in order. We only have a few minutes before master Syven arrives." Albert the head butler issued outlast minute commands to the Coder staff.

"Sir Albert! Master Syven has arrived!" shouted one of the maids as she run inside the main mansion door.

"Everyone head to the main door to welcome our master!"

Albert and the rest of the Coder household staff all line up at the mansion's main entrance waiting for the Mayor to step in.

A black limo pulled upfront the mansion. A red carpet was rolled up from the car to the house.

One of the guards opened the limo's back doors and the Mayor stepped out. He looked in his late thirties and wore an expensive black suit.

His fragrance was strong enough to cover the surrounding area with a masculine perfume.

Another man, Jin who looked about twenty-four, came out from the limo holding a baby wrapped in a blue blanket.

Mayor Coder alongside Jin walked through main door and was received with a greeting by the house staff:

"Welcome back master Syven!" the staff bowed as they greeted their master. As the head servant Albert stepped forward from line of servants and bowed his head:

"Welcome back master Syven and I greet you as well sir Jin."

"Thank you Albert. I presume everything went well while I was away?" Master Syven asked.

"Yes. No mishaps or problems arose during you absence sir" Albert replied while still bowing.

Albert raised his head and noticed something unusual. Jin was holding a baby who looked a few months old.

Out of curiosity Albert asked:

"If I may be bold to ask master, whose baby is sir Jin is holding?"

Master Syven turned his attention to Jin:

"That child is my nephew…his name's Draven Coder. He will be in my care from now on. More specifically in your care Albert."

"Pardon me? In my care? But isn't he a Coder and your nephew as well master? Would it be right for mere servant to be in charge of taking care of a member of the Coder family?" Albert asked, clearly confused by his master's words.

"This child baring the Coder name means nothing to me. As such you all are to rise him and treat him like one of the servants in this house. However do not miss treat him because of that as he is still a Coder."

The master turned to address the rest of the staff members present:

"Do not give or show this child any special attention despite him being a Coder. Just make sure he is well fed and taken care of. Understood?"

"Yes master " the servants replied.

Albert and the other staff members all looked confused as to why their master, a man who holds the Coder family name in high regard would decide to treat his own nephew like that:

"We will do as you command master ." Albert stepped back and bowed his head again.

Jin handed the sleeping baby to Albert as master Syven walked towards the stairs which led to the first floor. As Jin carefully gave the baby to Albert he whispered:

"Take good care of him Albert, as he will be an important piece in the Coder family."

"I understand. Don't worry sir Jin the boy is in good hands." Albert replied.

Jin smiled and followed master Syven behind.

After the two men left the entrance room, the servants began to talk amongst themselves:

"Is master Syven really going to let us, mere servants, take care of a member of his family?"

"Yeah it makes no sense. And here I thought master Syven didn't have any siblings so where did this kid come from?."

"Am wondering that too. I wonder who this child's parents are?"

"Enough gossiping." Albert silenced them. "Master Syven has his reasons for this decision. Let's no question him. Now let's get back to work."

"Yes sir Albert." The servants dispersed.

Albert looked at the soundly sleeping baby in his arms:

"Sleeping soundly huh little one." Albert smiled "For some reason I think taking care of you won't be so hard. Now lets look for a proper place for you to take your nap."

...

Months passed as the servants each took turns looking after Draven. As instructed, the Coder household staff followed the stipulation given concerning the child.

More importantly they had follow that one specific condition which was given by their master not to give Draven any special attention.

That condition was especially hard for Albert who grew fond of the boy each month that passed.

As much as he wanted to dolt on Draven, Albert had to act a bit cold towards him.

To everyone's surprise Draven never occasionally cried or acted like a child seeking attention. That made the servants wonder what kind of child Draven really was...

A year had passed since Draven was taken in the Coder household. The boy was now one-year-old. The servants all took a liking to Draven over the year.

"The kid has grown quite well in Albert's care don't you think master Syven?" Jin asked.

He and master Syven were in the mansion's office sorting out paper work.

"I suppose. Despite what I told them when he first arrived, Albert and the other servants have taken him as one of their own and gave him the care necessary for child growth." Master Syven answered.

"Draven is about one-year-old now isn't he. I saw him in the yard with the gardener as I was getting out of my car. Although I found it rather odd at how close he paid attention to the gardener doing he's work." Jin wondered.

"I instructed Albert not to let the boy have any sort fun or have any recreational activities. As a result, Draven is force to be observant towards servants. Albert and the rest of the house staff take scheduled turns taking care of him while they go about performing their duties." Master Syven explained as he continued looking over so documents.

"I see. From what I saw he seems to be a very attentive child and if raised right will definitely a great asset. Speaking of children isn't lady Miku scheduled to deliver your first child this month?" Jin asked.

"She is. The baby is most likely to arrive three weeks from now. Although my wife wants to have the baby in the United States. She refused to travel anywhere ever since her pregnancy reached four months old."

"I understand. Lady Miku has been in the United States for about a year now right? Stating in one of your villas in Washington? If I may ask master, have you already told lady Miku about Draven" Jin asked.

Master Syven paused his work and he turned he's attention to Jin:

"No I haven't. I'll tell her once she gets back. There's no need to worry her with trivial matters."

"If you say so."

After three weeks lady Miku gave birth to a baby girl at private hospital in the US. She waited until the baby was a month old before she could to travel back to England.

Master Syven had traveled to the US to personally escort his wife and daughter back to Birmingham.

News spread throughout Birmingham city about the Mayor's new born.

Mayor Syven had been the mayor of Birmingham city for eight years. Despite being married to lady Miku for two years, they both never had a child until now.

As such it was great news to the citizens as their beloved Mayor finally had a child. A first born Child of master Coder and a potential successor of the Coder family.

At the mansion, there was a sense of excitement in the Coder household as the staff prepared to welcome a new member of the Coder family:

"Get everything in order. Lady Miku is a very meticulous person and wants nothing but perfection! I don't want to see anything out place!" Albert shouted.

"Sir Albert what about Draven? what should we do with him?" a maid asked, holding Draven in her arms.

"What else should you do with him? Bathe him and groom him of course. Fit him with an attire befitting a Coder. Remember, even though we treat him like one of us Draven is still a Coder and should be presented as such. Now hurry go we don't have much time."

"Yes right away sir" the maid took Draven away as Albert continued to make sure things were ready.

The atmosphere in the Coder mansion felt tense. Servants both felt excited for the new born and a bit scared because lady Miku was returning.

Master Syven together with his wife and daughter finally arrived in England at Birmingham airport in private jet.

Within an hour they made their way to the mansion.

"They're here!" shouted one of the servants. "Alright everyone let's go and welcome them. And where's Draven?" Albert asked turning his head left and right looking the maid who took him away.

"He's right here. All groomed just as you ordered sir Albert"

"Good work. Give him to me." The maid handed over Draven "Open the doors and let's welcome them."

Even though Draven was only a year old he could sense the atmosphere was a bit tense. He could see the nervousness of the staff members. But despite the tense mood, Draven kept calm.

The doors opened and the Coders walked in. The servants and staff members all bowed and welcome them with a greeting:

"Welcome back lady Miku and we welcome the new member of the Coder family!"

Lady Miku didn't seem moved at all to the servants's welcome. She took a long glance at them all and notice Albert was holding a child:

"I see even the servants are now comfortable enough to bring their child to greet me. Albert explain yourself."

Albert stepped forward with Draven still in his arms:

"Actually lady Miku this isn't my child, he's actually..."

"My nephew" Master Syven interrupted.

Lady Miku turned around, glaring at her husband with a fierce look:

"Excuse me? Did you just say your nephew?..."
