Chapter 2 - Alice Goes to the City

To fulfill a promise to her best friend, Alice ventured to ask her parents for permission. That morning, he deliberately waited for his parents to go to the fields. Alice is the eldest of three children, she has two younger brothers named Eryk and Jacob.

"Mother father," calls Alice.

"Yes son, what's wrong?" her mother asked.

"Alice wants to ask permission to go to town. Alice has an urgency there," Alice answered.

"Alice, you've never been to the city before. I'm afraid you'll get lost," the father said.

"You don't have to worry about Alice having friends there," Alice said.

"Your friend? Who?" her mother asked.

"Yes ma'am, Alice please allow Alice to go to town, okay? Alice makes sure everything will be fine," Alice whined.

Hearing the whimper and sincere request of the eldest child, Alice's parents couldn't bear to refuse her request.

"Okay, you can go but you have to be accompanied by your sister Eryk," the father said.

"If Eryk comes along, who will help you in your fields?" Alice said.

"You don't have to worry about that, both of us are still able to work alone," the father said.

Hearing the answer from her father, Alice agreed. Because if he refuses his father's decision, he is afraid that his parents will not permit him.

"Okay, I'll go with Eryk," Alice said, nodding her head.

"Call Eryk here," the father said.

Alice swiftly approached her sister in her room.

"Erik…," shouted Alice, banging on the door.

"Eryk, please open the door," begged Alice.

"Eryk," Alice shouted.

Alice repeatedly shouted for Eryk, but there was no response from inside her sister's room. He was forced to open his sister's room which happened to never be locked.

"Eryk, let's get up" Alice tore her sister's body.

"Ahh," whined Eryk.

"Eryk, let's accompany Big Brother to the city," l Alice said.

"To the city?" Eryk said, surprised.

Instantly his eyes opened wide, Eryk wanted to go to the city. He was curious about the beauty and bustle of the city as he heard from the people around him.

"You're not joking, are you?" Erik asked.

"No, Eryk, you're serious. Here's our lunch there," said Alice, showing the red bag to her sister.

Eryk still couldn't believe it, he pinched and patted his cheek hard. This was like a dream to him, and he didn't want to waste this golden opportunity either.

"Okay Sis, I want to," Eryk said, with sparkling eyes.

"Yes, you go to the living room. Father and mother are waiting for you there," Eryk said.

"Father and Mother, so father and mother sent us to the city," Eryk curiously.

"Don't ask too many questions, you just go there," Alice said.

Eryk nodded and immediately removed the blanket that wrapped his body. Then he got out of bed and immediately met his parents in the living room. While Alice seemed happy to know Eryk was standing by with her, she followed her sister's footsteps from behind into the living room.

"Father and Mother called Eryk?" Erik asked.

"Yes son," his mother replied.

"Eryk, it's like this. Your brother wants to go to town because he has personal needs. So we ask you to accompany him until his business is finished," the father asked.

Necessity?" Erik asked.

"I don't know, or don't know what the need is. Alice, can you tell me, what needs are you pursuing in the city?" the father said.

"Just a little bit of interest, dad, to find a friend's address and take a walk into town," Alice replied.

He sounded fluent in answering his father's question because the answer was already prepared by his eldest daughter.

"Okay, you guys go and be careful," his father said.

"Do you have enough supplies to go there?" her mother asked.

"More than enough Ma'am, my friend gave us a bag of money and gold for us to go to town," Alice replied.

Because the sun had begun to appear, their parents immediately went to the fields.

"Okay, we go to the fields first. You guys are careful and don't linger in the city," his mother said.

"Yes ma'am," said Alice and Eryk in unison.

Both of their parents left the house to go to the fields.

"Eryk, you're ready. After this, we go to town. Don't forget to bring some change of clothes," said Alice.

"Okay sis," Eryk said.

The handsome boy immediately obeyed his brother's orders to get ready.

"Sis, let's go," Eryk said.

"All right," Alice said.

"Sis, how about we go to town by riding Charlie? I think he's a strong horse, definitely able to take us to town," Eryk suggested.

Alice agreed, after all this was Luna's request. There was no way he could refuse Alice's request.

"Okay Eryk, let's go to Luna's house to borrow Charlie," Alice said.

The two of them hurriedly walked towards Luna's luxurious house which was not far from their residence.

"Sis, what do you need to go to town for?" Erik asked.

"You'll explain later when we've arrived at our destination," Alice answered.

Their conversation was cut short when they heard Charlie's neighing. It turned out that they had arrived in front of Luna's fence. It looks like Luna is bathing her favorite horse.

"Morning Luna," Alice greeted.

"Morning Alice," Luna answered.

"Can we talk for a minute?" she asked.

Luna nodded indicating that she agreed.

His best friend gently pulled Luna's hand, bringing her away from her sister.

"Lun, I'm going to the city today with Eryk. This is what my parents asked for, and this is the only way I'll be allowed to leave the city," Alice said firmly.

"Okay Alice, I'll add money for you guys," Luna said.

"Wait Lun, we meant to borrow Charlie to take him to town," Alice asked.

"Okay, wait here. I want to go inside for a moment," Luna said.

He immediately left Alice and Eryk in his yard. Not long after he returned with a bag containing money and some gold pieces.

"Alice, this is an additional provision for you. Please accept, I am very grateful to you," said Luna.

"Okay Lun, if this money is more certain we will return it to you," Alice said.

Luna then approached Charlie who was with Eryk at the time.

"Hey Charlie, good horse. Today you come with them. Take good care of them," said Luna stroking her horse's head with feeling.

Charlie just neighed, then Luna untied Charlie and handed over her beloved horse for them to take to town.

"I leave Charlie for you to take to town. Please take good care of my favorite horse," Luna said.

"Okay Lun, let's go first, okay? After reaching the city and we think it will take us a long time there, I will send you a letter," Alice said.

"Sis Luna, let's go," Eryk said.

"Yes, you guys be careful. Previously I thanked you" Luna shouted.

Hearing Luna's thanks, Eryk looked a little confused. For those who borrow horses why Luna is the grateful one. And suspicions arose about whether his brother went to town for the sake of his best friend. But Eryk ignored it, in his heart the important thing was that he could see the city.

The two brothers leave Luna's mansion by riding Charlie toward Baren city.
