*Caitlin's POV*
The day I left home.
I ran as fast as I could through the thick woods. I mustn't stop, she mustn't stop me and drag me back to that living hell. I must run far away, where she will never find me and hurt me again.
All this thoughts ran through my head, giving me the strength I need to keep running.
Memories of my home, stepmother's painful strokes, scars which I guess will never heal up. Although they weren't physical but emotional. Watching my father's love turning into pure hatred.
All the memories flashed, as hot beam of tears rolled down my cheeks. My vision started getting blurry, due to the excessive amount of tears being formed in my eyes. I finally stumbled on a root of an oak tree and fell on my tummy. Getting my white baggy top stained with mud. I slowly crawled to the truck of the trees and sat.
I leaned sideways to reach for the most precious thing to me, my mother's picture. I took it out from the back pocket of my black jeans trousers. Cuddling it closely to my chest as I left hot tears roll down my cheeks once more. I looked at the picture and moved my index finger to the big smile on her face.
"You will have still been here...only if you didn't go out that day to find him. A man not worth your love...our love." I stopped to take in the fresh oxygen the forest was emitting.
"...I will have not suffered this much. I miss you so so much, mom." I said as I sobbed even louder. My cries echoing through the woods.
A loud howl vibrating through the forest like that of a wolf. I jacked back in fear into reality.
"I guess am not the only one sad here." I stood up quickly and dipped my mother's picture back into my pocket, dusted the little I could off my shirt and started running with my weak legs, which I prayed will carry me faster.
The wind passing through my baggy too was really dragging me back, like a parachute.
Note, never wear big clothes when trying to escape.
Another howl emitted from the forest, much nearer this time.
I slowly passed it. I felt like something passed through me, slightly painful. Maybe it was very painful but I couldn't feel it as much because of the adrenaline flowing through my veins. The fear of getting eating by a sad wolf made me run even faster.
As I was running faster, I looked ahead and saw some buildings up the hill.
Thank God, I'm not going to die. Just a little more strength, Caitlin . You can do it.
I kept on looking forward. You know when they say, while running look ahead, don't look down or behind you. In real life...watch your feet...or you will fall! Which I did, my clumsiness caused me a lot.
I had hit a truck and fell right down on my ankle this time. It was totally twisted. And right then, I knew I messed up and was going to be someone's dinner.
I looked back and saw the she wolf right at the brooks. It was so far away and just a blink...it ran towards me nearer and nearer, just so fast for my eyes to comprehend. And right then, I knew it was no ordinary wolf. She kept on running as the cold wind ran through her white fur. I stood up as fast as I could and tried to run, but I fell right back, my legs giving out in fear. Both frozen.
As I looked back, I saw it right in front of me, few inches away. I totally gave up and submitted to my fate, but which was death. I looked right into its eyes and saw fear, anger, sadness and hope. All in just a pair of golden eyes:
In a blink of my eyes at its fastest rate, she was right above me: and I hear it. SHE SPOKE.Maybe my imagination due to so much fear, but am super sure she spoke into my mind.
"I chose you." She said in a cool but authoritative tone.
"Say what?!?" I said also in my thoughts.
She leaned closer to my right shoulder and bit me right there.
I guess... I chose you to be my dinner.
Pain, more painful that stepping on hot coal bear footed. Tears filled my eyes and I gave out a loud scream. My vision got blurry and my whole body weakened.
And she spoke again.
"Sorry. I had to pass it on." She moved away from me and ran towards the brooks and disappeared into glitters which formed a crystal moon, purple crystals seating on it and a rose. All together. It slowly faded away into the sky.
"Help me, please. Anyone..." I said faintly with my last strength.
I heard footsteps approaching my direction, crushing the dry leaves on the ground. Two voices said at the same time. In unison.
"Stay with us..do not close your eye."
"Please, save me." I said as I gave in to the darkness which have been calling me.
