Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 New (2)

"Thank you, for getting me in on such short notice." I said to Patricia as I sat in her salon chair. She has a salon suite and was quite elegant. The walls are black with gold trim. Her furniture is a light grey and has pops of red.

"No worries, Barley is like my sister so I couldn't leave you hanging." Patrica replied with a smile. She's really cute and stylish. She looked about 5'2 so I'm about a couple inches taller than her. She's a darker chocolate color. Her skin looks so smooth and flawless. She reminds me of Lupita.

"So what would you like me to do to your hair?"

"Umm… I really don't know. I just want to look different. I'm ready for a change."

"What's the shortest you'll be ok with?"

"Umm… As long as it could be put into a ponytail, I'll be fine. It can be a tiny one and I'll be."

"Alright,cool."

Poppy stared at the mirror in complete awe of her new hair. She never had short hair before and she loved it. She now had a curly bob. It looked rather becoming on her. She felt like a new woman.

"Patricia, this is amazing. I love it!" Poppy said with excitement.

"Thank you, would you like to schedule another appointment?"

" Of course! Can I make a standing appointment for every 2 weeks? Also do you have any plans for tonight?"

"That's perfect and no."

"Barley and I are going out tonight, would you like to join us? We're going to the rooftop bar at SoHo House."

" I'd love to."

"Awesome, text you my address so you can meet us at my house then we can go together. See you later." Poppy said as she was leaving.

She truly had a great time getting her hair done with Patricia. She was so friendly. She couldn't help but to invite her. Plus Poppy craved to make new friends so she would be lonely.

Though back home in St Louis she didn't actually have any friends outside Samir. They weren't allowed to have friends outside of their siblings. Daddy used to always say "Those ain't your friends, they're associates" and "The only friends you have are the people in the house."

With her upbringing it was easy to not make friends, but she always wanted them. It was just she knew she could only confide in Mom and Samir. Plus she was always a little embarrassed about her home life so she would rather keep to herself. The only person she opened up to a little bit was Barley and that was hard.

No one wants to talk about all the hurt they've been through and relive it through they're dream. It was painful. It's enough that she was left with bruises and scars. It is best to leave the past in the past.

It's peaceful to no longer wear a mask of happiness and hide who you truly are. It took too much energy.

Knock. Knock.

"Who is it?" Poppy asked.

"It's us! Are you ready to go?" Barley replied.

"Yes," Poppy replied as opening the door.

"Well damn. Who's this little cutie? Where's my Poppy go?" Barley said playfully.

Barley could help but be in awe as she looked at Poppy. Poppy was simply gorgeous. The curly bob framed her face perfectly. Her face was no longer hidden by her hair. She had on a cute long-sleeved lightly loose white knitted dress with a skin-tight black slip dress underneath. The outfit brought out her hourglass shape. She looked like she had an amazing bbl.

Poppy blushed and said, " Thank you and Patricia did her thing."

"I just had a good canvas," Patricia replied.

Poppy blushed even harder and said, "Thank you, let's go."
