Orcs were a despicable race. They would feed on everything mindlessly and only hold enough intelligence to not kill their own race.
But for Alexanders purposes, they fulfilled everything to be the perfect training dummy.
He wanted to test what weapon would fit his playstyle.
Magics was a must, but for weapons such as swords or bows, Alexander had no idea of what to pick.
There were close to 500 orcs. So, he would have enough time to test a few weapons.
In a fairly crude manner, Alexander created the weapons he wanted to test out of his own mana.
Solidifying the mana made the weapons look as if they were forged out of pure mana crystal.
These weapons fulfilled a single purpose, that being for Alexander to train. Nothing less or more.
They not only looked crude, but they were also not great in terms of quality.
In every sense, Alexander did not perfect what he did just now.
His first crafted weapons looked like crap. White golden crap to be exact, but that was not the point.
From the standard weapons he created, the first one he wanted to test was the bow.
Just imagining flying in the air and sniping from above was scary.
And exactly that was what Alexander did. He flew out of visual range of the orcs and sniped them down.
The first 20 shots he fired were all misses, but he did not let this much deter his vision he had for the bow.
The orcs had no way of retaliation against Alexander. The best thing they could do was hide.
An hour passed, and Alexander made a few modifications to the bow he created.
The design changed to a compound bow he specifically logged out for, then he took his phone and googled in the main temple of heaven how a compound bow was crafted.
His initial goal to his 20 shots in a row succeeded after all modifications. The fist design of his bow was the standard short bow everyone would know.
But for his purposes a compound bow that even in his own world would shoot accurately over 50 meters was the best.
With magic arrows, his range was as long as a good sniper rifle.
And that was only horizontally. If he shot from above, range did not matter as much anymore.
He killed nearly 120 of the orcs through arrows. His accuracy was great after the first 50 killed orcs.
It depended on how much mana he used, but he found a sweet spot where he could kill an orc but not make the head explode.
Trial and error proved to be his friend in that regard.
Switching things up now, Alexander saved the final design of the bow and melted it back into raw mana. Solidifying and melting were the same form of magic. Shaping his mana and solidifying it in place was a basic principle of magic.
This was how the magic 'mage hand' was used. By solidifying a hand out of magic and lifting objects.
Alexander did the same thing semi-permanent but with weapons.
He now had a blob out of shapeless mana in his hands.
It took him a second to conjure a good-looking sword out of the mass.
The first weapons he made out of mana were crude and ugly in every way.
This is why he melted them all back into mana when he was done.
Now having a better grasp at shaping his mana, the sword he made looked 'acceptable'.
It was no masterpiece, but it could be recognized as a sword. And it would cut and definitely hold up to a few orcs.
Many orcs went into hiding from the arrow rain that came from above. Even though he was not using his map, he could tell where the orcs were hiding.
This was probably the thing the goddess mentioned when giving me the map. To sense evil is already a feature of the divine spark.
The dots on the map only make it easier for me right now. But in the future, it will be a useless feature. Only nice to have but there was no need for it.
The sword Alexander copied was a two-handed longsword. A few years ago, a sword fighting club came to their school of a festival and handed the kids real but blunt weapons.
That was the only real sword Alexander ever held in his hands.
Copying it was hard for him. He remembered the shape and the feeling, but the balance of the sword was off by a lot and Alexander had to make it sharp.
Sharpening the blade to a point where it could cut took him a while.
After readying himself he went to a single orc that got separated from the group.
As a wolf, Alexander got experience what it meant to be in close quarters combat for a while, but that was with a wolf body and different tactics that he could use now.
His knowledge of sword combat was near zero. But even he was sure that he at least could could slash with it.
Alexander instinctively prowled towards his target even as a human.
He got the habit of stealthily walking until he was ready to pounce from his wolf side.
In his combat mode, whenever he was ready to pounce and would commit to a jump, he would howl closely before the execution to assure dominance over his enemy.
Howling in his human form felt weird, but the buff he got was worth the embarrassment.
Not straying too far from his habits. Alexander charged at the orc when he got close enough and mid charge he howled.
The orc felt fear for the first time in his life. It knew that someone was slaughtering them. But he got away to a safe distance. That was what it thought.
Now as it heard a howl behind him suddenly coming closer, it was to stunned to even move.
Alexander however misjudged his speed and the slash that was aimed at the neck of the orc went right through it and beheaded the orc.
He had too much speed to suddenly stop his charge and just went on charging full speed to the next target that was 50 meters away.
Alexander felt like a car. He was too fast for his own liking while running through the forest.
The goblins were pierced through like butter by his fangs. That he could understand quite easily.
However the sword he made was too good.
It slashed cleanly through the orcs without loosing speed.
He could understand that he was targeting weak points of the enemies and therefore those had weaker resistance to slashes, but even the orcs that were not one hit died a miserable death.
His mana was of the divine property through the divine spark in his core.
It was as if his blade was poison to evil beings like orcs.
The orcs instinctively feared the blade that Alexander held.
Under normal circumstances, orcs would pile on a single enemy and beath them through sheer numbers. Even when facing death, orcs would normally go into a berserk state and still run to their death while attacking.
The orcs Alexander was facing right now did the exact opposite. They ran away from him.
To Alexanders surprise, what took him the most time was not actually killing the orcs.
It was running after them as they escaped.
Alexander wasted one and a half hours running after them and slashing them up.
At the end to change things up, Alexander tried flying plus swordsmanship.
Flying at low altitude while slashing at enemies was more fun than just standing on the ground for him.
He felt more nimble in the air and that allowed his sword to come from unexpected angles to his targets.
The last orc fell as Alexanders sword cut into the brain with a downward swing from above.
With that he had accomplished his goal there.
He did not really care for the quest rewards as it was just experience.
Alexander hadn't checked his level in a long time.
There simply was no need to as he did not intend on spending his free status points right now.
He only confirmed that he got to level 18 by now and closed his stats again.
His stat growth was 2 points for everything per level. So, all of his stats were not at 47.
This representation however was not correct because he himself was only a soul. And the system could not correctly measure the power he intended the soul avatar to have.
The system just gradually increased the input the original soul had towards the soul avatar as one leveled up. It was a matter to protect the weak souls of humans that never used soul avatars before.
If one were to fully control the soul avatar, they would essentially end up doing it the same way Alexander did right now. They would be able to form the connection themselves, not through the assistance of the capsule.
The leveling system provided a gradually increased control for the players as they leveled up.
If Alexander wanted, he could do the same right now as he had full control over the input.
That did not mean that he was the equivalent of a level 100+ all of a sudden.
He just had the control that a level 100+ player would have over their body.
His core needed work and so did his general mana control.
Basically everything else needed work for him to be powerful.
The only thing he had that was overpowered was the amount and quality of his mana.
Mana was also something he had on his mind right now.
He looked around himself to admire the scenery for a while.
Because of him, this whole forest would soon become another desolate place.
It was sad but also necessary to get as much natural mana as he could.
His divine spark needed just one more good push to fully mature.
Alexander did not really know what he needed to do after that, but it was better that the divine spark matured faster.
His own soul strength depended on the quantity of his mana and divine spark.
Where normal people would get their strength from levels. His own came purely from the raw essence of his core and the divine spark that was linked with it.
Slowly but surely, Alexander activated his improvised black hole ability.
The last time he activated it, he thought of a suction force that like a vacuum, sucked everything mana related in the vicinity in.
Now he went with the at least a little bit scientifically more correct approach of a black hole.
Simulating the mass that caused a black hole was easier said than done.
Alexander had to create a pull strong enough for mass to get pulled into.
The first time, he only pulled all of the mana in the vicinity. This time however he wanted everything.
A crater of nothing should remain where he was. Not a single speck of dust will be left over.
His core at the moment had not enough mass to pull in everything by just existing.
But he could use another principle that achieved the same thing.
By creating a strong spinning force plus an increase in mass of his core, everything was pulled into the vortex Alexander had just made.
Mana seemed to follow quite similar laws that mass also had.
Alongside wind, mana particles were the first things that got attracted to the vortex.
Wind being pulled in was favorable for Alexander. The missing air created an unbalance of atmospheric pressure and therefore an influx in air that was sucked in from outside of Alexanders range.
After a while, the spin of Alexanders vortex reached the critical point where it could suck in the surrounding earth.
It felt different and weird for him to absorb things like earth or metals, but it was necessary for his future growth.
To only rely on mana was dangerous when considering the existence of different power systems like ki or ether.
Regardless of what Alexander took into himself. It would be converted by his divine spark into pure essence.
With the critical point reached, Alexander slowly but surely increased the speed of absorption.
