"How is he?" Samuel asked as soon as Rhian walked out of the guest room.
After what happened at the rooftop. They decided to bring the boy in Rhian's house. It's spacious enough so taking in a stranger won't be too hard.
They had to put the boy on an IV drip to get the necessary nutritions he needed for his body. He was extremely malnourished and his body looks like it will break with one punch.
Rhian asked why Samuel couldn't take the boy in instead. Samuel needed to refuse since everyone is still not ready to meet the phoenix and the dragon egg.
Besides, vampires are the only ones so far who's capable enough to approach the boy without getting killed for a mere handshake.
"He's asleep. But he'll be okay, he'll be needing a lot of care from now on. His body is so weak, his immune system can easily fail him." She said and went to the lounge where the butler had prepared a drink for them. Of course, Samuel's drink is a juice while the two drinks blood.
"I did as you want me to. Now what's in it for me?" Rhian asked as she took a seat.
"Apart from saving your people from a close extinction. Congratulations by the way..." Samuel chuckled.
"He will rely on you for the time being. Give him time to heal. And he'll give you what you're looking for." Samuel stated and eyed Vladimir who simply gave him an eyeroll.
"Stop looking at me as if I'm fu**ing her! We're just friends!" He snapped defensively and Samuel simply snickered in response.
"Whatever you say. She was never satisfied with you anyway!" Samuel chuckled causing the male vampire to attempt to grab him by the collar but Samuel effortlessly dodged him and scooted to the other side of the couch.
Samuel didn't really like Vladimir since they first met. He can see how big of an opportunist he is. To make it worse, Rhian is aware but she chose to keep him because of his family who was a big help to her in the past. So whenever he gets his chance, he would always annoy and provoke him.
"You're a fu**ing asshole you know that?!" Vladimir growled and attempted to attack him again but Samuel had threatened him this time with his hand.
"I can make you colder than you are if that's what you're looking for!" He threatened with the coldest tone he could muster.
While Rhian just simply sat there. Watching the two fight as an entertainment.
"I suggest you return to your seat if you want to keep walking under sunlight!" He added and the vampire growled at him in defeat before he retreated to his seat beside Rhian.
No way in hell will he risk his freedom under the raging gigantic ball of fire from space.
"What a coward." She scoffed and shook her head.
"You know enough about him. So you know what should and shouldn't be done with him!" Samuel warned as he stood up, not even trying the drink that was offered to him.
"I'm leaving. And if you have any question about him. We can always see each other at school." Samuel said and casually walked out of the house with no harm done.
Rhian stood up from her seat and ordered Vladimir to leave. Once he was gone, he went back to the guest room and found his guest finally awake.
"About time..." she mumbled and quietly strolled to the nearby couch from his bed. The boy watching him like a meerkat.
"So are you good now?" She asked and the boy gently nodded his head.
"What's your name?" She asked again.
"B-Blue... T-that's what... t-they used to call me..." the boy stammered. His eyes glued on the vampire's red orbs.
It felt like something he needs now ever since he laid eyes on them.
"Weird. Why would they call you that?" Rhian asked with pure curiousity.
It's not everyday you meet someone named after a color, right?
"Because I appeared out of nowhere..." the boy said and sighs.
"So Blue... Apart from taking souls do---"
"I didn't mean to do it!!!" The boy heavily defended and directly yelled at the vampire.
"If you say so." Rhian stated calmly and crossed her arms while leaning her back on the couch.
Blue lowered his head while guilt quickly consume him.
"I-I'm sorry... I didn't mean to yell..." he apologized and was almost whispering.
"It's fine. It's nothing my ears can't handle." She chuckled.
Rhian somehow found him very entertaining than the fight Vladimir and Samuel had earlier.
The way he speaks. The way he sounded nervous. His pale complexion and weak figure. Even the sound of the movements of his hair also made it to the list.
Everything about him is so inviting. Even though he had no scent or presence with him.
It only made him more interesting.
You can't really distrust a time keeper's words...
"Why are you still alive?" Blue suddenly asks when he suddenly remembered what happened at the rooftop earlier.
Rhian silently laughed. "I'm a vampire." She said and waited for an 'I don't believe you' reaction.
But then she didn't expect the boy to start shedding tears again.
"W-why are you crying?" Rhian was stunned. Not expecting such reaction at all.
"Just say if you're a ghost or what! Why would you make fun of me!?" He cried and buried his head on his palms.
Rhian panicked and dashed to sit beside him but Blue was shocked when the girl almost teleported in front of him from the couch. His eyes opened so wide as he scooted back.
"I am a vampire. I'm not joking. And I'm afraid there's a lot more of me than what you think of." She explained.
"You were asking why I'm still alive right? Well I'm not. I'm practically a walking dead. And probably have no soul at all. So maybe that's why you can't hurt me." She added and the boy looked at him dumbfounded.
"Aren't you going to say anything?" Rhian asked a bit annoyed. She's not liking any sort of silent treatment at all from him.
"Thank you... f-for saving me back there." He said and slowly returned his gaze to her.
The moonlight seeped in through the windows. Shoning perfectly at their faces.
"I just... I couldn't see myself trying anymore. I feel so tired of everything." He said and began sobbing. His hands busily gripped on the blanket whilst his tears freely fall down.
"And maybe... Ending everything would be the best thing... Like how the world had barely seen me at all... I'm better off dead..."
"Like them..."
"My death wouldn't be a loss so why do I matter?"
Rhian let him take his time to bring it all out. He made it clear that he's lost all hope with whatever kind of life he had.
As much as she wanted to cut him off and tell him who he is. Or what his purpose in life is.
She didn't. Because she knows he needed to let it all out.
It took Blue long hours until midnight to finally stop crying.
By then, his eyes were completely swollen and he felt more exhausted than he already is.
"I-I haven't caught your name..." he mumbled as he shyly looked away from her piercing gaze. Her eyes had already went back into brown. Her usual eye color if she hadn't drank blood for hours.
"I'm Rhian." She said as she stood up from the bed and approached the door.
"You'll be staying here with me from now on. So feel free to wander around except at the North wing." She reminded.
"M-me? Stay here? I-isn't this your place?" He asked.
"Yes. With your situation. It's best that you stick with me. That way I can keep an eye on you." Rhian explained. "And maybe help you..." she added and Blue quickly frowned with disbelief.
"I don't understand. Why would you help me? I'm simply nothing to you!" The boy exclaimed.
"Stop dragging yourself down Blue! You still know very less about yourself. Do you really think someone like me will help a nobody?!" She scoffed and rolled her eyes in annoyance.
The repetition of the boy continiously dragging himself down instead of helping himself up is terribly pissing her off.
"T-then why help me?" He asked again. His voice sounded so soft and Rhian couldn't help but have her dead heart go back to life just to coo for it.
"Everyone deserves second chances. Even the demons. And you.... you deserve another chance to live not because of what you did. But because of who you are."
Rhian mentally cursed herself. That was probably the most cringiest statement that came out of her mouth since she existed.
"My butler will come here shortly. She'll give you anything you need to regain your strength. And don't worry. I'll inform her to keep a safe distance so you won't feel uncomfortable. If you need anything else, just simply call my name and I'll be here within seconds."
Rhian quickly walked out of the room. Finding an increase of temperature on her cheeks. The images of the cute boy sitting innocently on the bed invaded her mind like a virus spreading in her brain like an infection.
