Chapter 10 - Descendants of the Knights of Light

The woman dressed in all black walked out of the bar. She is Britney. A girl who just turned 21 got the legality to do anything in her country, and her instincts are so sharp that no one knows who she is.

The girl had heard of many unnatural happenings in the past month. Still, she had chosen to pretend not to know about it because... her grandfather said she wouldn't be able to fight the legions as well as the other dark knights without anyone accompanying.

The girl strolled, heading to a Walmart not far from the bar, the minimarket where she had worked side-by-side for the past two years.

The bell rang above the door as Britney entered the convenience store.

"Good evening, Mrs. Lawson," said Britney to Mrs. Lawson—the convenience store owner—a widow with one child who still looked very beautiful. Mrs. Lawson has a very handsome son, and she knows that her son is attracted to Britney, an energetic young girl.

"Ouh ... you've come, Brit. Soon there will be goods coming from the supplier, can you help me lift all the stuff?" asked Mrs. Lawson. Mrs. Lawson moved to bring something to another shelf, tidying up some new items that had recently been sent by a supplier of a well-known food brand.

"Let me help you, okay?" offered Britney.

With a move of her head, the woman nodded and signaled to lift four boxes into the warehouse. Britney deftly lifted the four large boxes, which were quite heavy, with just one hand.

"Brit? You... picked up at once?" Mrs. Lawson was astonished. How could Britney, who was small, even shorter than her, be able to lift all the boxes, not even seem to have any significant difficulty for her.

Impossible!

But Mrs. Lawson was sure she wasn't dreaming at the moment.

Britney bit her lip and forgot… unintentionally showing her strength in front of others. Old Grandpa Jared had told her often not to do anything reckless and too rash in front of other people.

Oh really... she forgot!

Her only intention was to lighten Mrs. Lawson's job, and there was no intention of showing off her current strength!

"Oh ... that ... er, how should I put it? I ... often work out in the gym, so this weight is not too heavy for me," replied Britney lied slightly, hoping Mrs. Lawson believed her lie. But, even if she knew, the beautiful woman couldn't possibly accept her words.

Mrs. Lawson frowned. She don't think what Britney said made much sense, but what could she say?

"Whatever, the important thing is that you help you tidy up all the stuff," Mrs. Lawson replied as she passed Britney and entered the warehouse.

"Phew ... almost," said Britney relieved.

Britney remembered what Grandpa Mr. James had told her. There are times when the light knights fight against demons, as has been the case for generations, has been going on for almost hundreds of years, where the knights of light have always been able to seal the power of the angels of darkness to harm humans.

The precursors of the awakening of the dark angels are very easy to spot. First, there will be an unusual lunar eclipse, where there will be darkness for one day, then there will be no electricity during the lunar eclipse, then a great rumble in the sky, and several other signs.

A tap on Britney's shoulder made her almost drop the boxes in her hands.

"Oh my! Brandon!" Britney shrieked in annoyance, seeing the presence of Brandon—Mrs. Lawson's son—suddenly behind her.

"Short girl, where's my mother?" asked Brandon.

A cute and attractive face can make the handsome young man's heart flutter whenever he sees Britney. Britney and Brandon study at the same campus, only in different majors. The young man was not an unskilled youth and attracted girls with his charm. Brandon is the head of the basketball team at their college and also has a lot of academic achievements.

Not only his looks but also brains seem to suit Brandon.

"You can't keep your mouth shut can you? Your mother is in the warehouse, you don't get in my way, I have to take all these boxes into the warehouse because soon another supplier will drop the goods," said Britney, asking Brandon to get out.

Instead of stepping aside, Brandon kept blocking Britney with his body so that pretty girl but short couldn't get past him. Annoyed, with one hand, Britney held the entire weight of the box, then pushed Brandon with the palm of her hand.

There was the sound of things falling from the shelves in the store.

"Britney! What was fell?" shouted Mrs. Lawson from inside the barn.

Britney was no less surprised than Brandon, and she looked at the palm of her hand. Surprise and amazement rolled into one, and then he glanced at Brandon, who had crashed into a pile of neatly arranged cans of sardines.

The young man was hit pretty hard, while Britney was unaware of what she was doing. He was astonished. How could her strength be able to make Brandon like this?

"Brit?" asked Brandon with a confused face. He can't believe what just happened. Brandon scrambled to his feet and brushed the dirt off his trousers.

"That's…really, I didn't mean...." What kind of a roughly reasonable explanation would that be? So a young man with a more muscular body could lose to a petite and short girl?

"Sorry, Brandon. I didn't mean to at all," Britney said, feeling guilty.

"Do you want me to forgive you?" asked Brandon, putting on a naughty face. But, of course, since Britney has one, he has a reason to ask her out. Good idea, right?

"Yes, what are the conditions?" asked Britney, biting her lip. He's nervous.

"Dating me, I am just forgiven," Brandon replied. So why wasn't Brandon too surprised by what Britney had just done? Meanwhile... anyone who saw what happened just now wouldn't be able to believe his eyes.

Brandon approached Britney and whispered, "Could it be... you're one of them?"

Britney's heart skipped a beat when she heard what Brandon had just asked her. Why did he ask that all of a sudden? If only she weren't careless, then Britney's true strength wouldn't have been exposed in front of others.

"I accepted your date, now there's no need to ask anything. Help me tidy up all these things before your mother—"

"Britney! You haven't answered me yet. What was fell!" Mrs. Lawson shouted again from inside the barn.

"I dropped some stuff!" Britney replied.

The girl hastily deftly tidied up the fallen items, while behind Britney, Brandon pointed his index finger at one of the lost cans. It lifted and flew. Britney rubbed her eyes, and she thought she was hallucinating.

"Brandon?"

Brandon smiled faintly, his eyes turning no longer light brown but pale gray.
