Chapter 13 - Looking For Identity

"Th-that… how did you—"

"I'm the same as you," Nicholas replied curtly, then walked away from Lucy. He knew she would want to ask more of them. But unfortunately, Nicholas didn't want to say anything at this point because he felt something inside the restaurant.

Nicholas returned to overseeing the restaurant area and didn't want to engage in conversation with Lucy. Don't let the girl find out who he is and then ask anything, he wants to make Lucy more able to contain her emotions. Lucy was a good worker and did not act too much during this time.

Nick or Nicholas always keeps an eye on the condition of every worker, lest anyone disagree or cause conflict among employees.

Finally, Susan was able to breathe again, releasing a relief unlike when Lucy had used her powers before. The girl leaked disgust at Nicholas! Unexpectedly, she will meet someone with the same power as her!

"This is crazy, why can't I breathe? My chest suddenly constricted. What is she doing!" sprayed Susan. He immediately ran in their direction, not wanting to see Lucy's face, avoiding her Lucy. Susan looked like she had just seen a ghost.

Nicholas laughed amusedly. Luckily, Lucy didn't use all of her strength. But, if that happened, then it's sure... Susan lost her life on the spot.

So far, Nicholas has always hidden his powers from anyone. It's just that, seeing Lucy today almost kill someone, he was forced to stop the girl, or a bloodbath would ensue.

He was able to read minds, an open ability, something fun. He considered what he got a gift rather than a curse. He could hear anyone's thoughts. It felt like the buzzing of ants inside his head.

With his handsome face, Nicholas was often the talk of the girls, and Nicholas could hear what the girls were thinking in his mind. They talk about him and make him dirty about Nicholas.

Not to mention when the girls imagined making love with Nicholas, and it was all in their minds that Nicholas could hear and read. Sometimes he was amused and disgusted by the dirty mind of the girls. But what else could Nicholas have done?

...

As the restaurant was closing, Lucy walked over to Nicholas. The man knows what Lucy will ask him. He tried to dodge, not wanting to give Lucy any answer. Just let her be curious because it doesn't need to be explained at all, right?

"Nick, I want to ask you something," said Lucy. Sure enough, that's what she wanted to ask. Nicholas pretended to be busy tidying the tables and chairs. When he was about to step away from Lucy, unexpectedly, the girl pulled the hem of his shirt.

"I need to talk seriously," said Lucy once more.

"Just wait until I finish it. We'll talk outside because I already know what you want to ask," Nicholas replied to Lucy. The girl looked at Nicholas in amazement. She'd always felt that he was a strange human, but ever since she discovered that Nicholas had an ability within her, erm… some superpower, maybe. Lucy became very confident. She's not alone.

For almost half an hour, Lucy waited outside for Nicholas when he finally finished his work. The report has also been sent to the central company.

If she had to be honest, Lucy admired Nicholas from the start. It was just that lack of confidence that always bothered her.

Nicholas had changed. He wore a regular coat, T-shirt, jeans and a sling bag. Much more casual than his usual work clothes.

"What do you want to talk about, Lucy?" asked Nicholas.

"That… h-how do you know what's on my mind, Nick?" Lucy lowered her head, and she was afraid that her question just now would offend Nicholas.

"Of course I can, you and I, there may also be a few others, they have the same power or they may be different. You trust me?" Nicholas answered as necessary what Lucy had asked him.

They walked down the sidewalk, not talking, just silent, as they set their pace. Even Nicholas could hear himself breathing.

"One day, you will find some other people who may have the same power as us. So at that time you have to be more careful, maybe among them are not humans but demons. Demons have a form that is not much different from humans, when they enter the human body and take full control of the body."

"You ... have to be careful," Nicholas said as he warned Lucy.

"I don't know myself, why I can pass down the power that grandfather has. So far, I can't ask my grandfather, because it's been almost three years since my grandfather had a stroke. I can only entrust him to a woman who is in charge of taking care of him until I get home from work. I realized something was wrong with me, two years ago." Lucy didn't know if she could fully trust Nicholas if she told him the whole story.

Right now, all she could talk to was Nicholas. Lucy never said anything about the power she had.

"You want to know why you have that power? Also, want to know the past when that battle took place?" Nicholas spoke as if he was offering Lucy something.

Lucy nodded her head. All this time, she had been plagued by such great curiosity. It's just that no one has been found to have the same power as her. She still couldn't control the power she had adequately.

"I can take you to meet some people who also have the same power as us, just… have to be careful, because demons are able to resemble other people's figures. Don't let us misrepresent our identity to them," Nicholas said again.

They had turned, Nicholas and Lucy's residences were a few hundred yards apart, except that Lucy rarely wanted to talk to anyone else. Every day after she worked, she only cared for her grandfather once the woman she paid for returned to her house.

"We'll continue this conversation later, Lucy. The direction of your house and mine is different." Nicholas walked first and left Lucy, standing still in her place.

Lucy keeps moving forward. The ambience around her house is always quiet earlier than in other places. It was only ten o'clock in the evening, and it already feels like early morning.

"Ow!" Someone threw her head with a snowball and hit her head just now, forcing Lucy to stop in her tracks. Her eyes scanned in all directions, but she could feel a rush of movement from a tree not far from her.

"Who is that!"
