The box was cool to the touch as Lucielle flipped the latch to be able to open it, her heart racing as a kaleidoscope of colors spilled out of the box which briefly blinded her with their intensity. Shutting her eyes as the rays of color were too strong to bear looking at anymore, Lucielle waited for the shine to fade before blinking her eyes to readjust to the low lighting of her bedroom. Peering down into the box, Lucielle frowned as all she saw in the box was a small black cube.
Reaching into the box and gingerly gripping it with her fingers, Lucielle removed the cube from the box. "Mithrial how exactly is this a weapon? It's but a simple black cube, while looking quite beautiful I don't think it really qualifies as a true weapon."
"Hmmm if you say so." Sliding off her bed and walking over to her combat knife that she had placed in its usual stand, Lucielle unsheathed the blade before pricking her thumb and smearing the driblet of blood across the cubes surface.
As her blood was smeared across the cube it began to vibrate in her hand while a low pitched whistling sound resounded in her room before it stopped abruptly as it began. The familiar window that she had grown accustomed to seeing popped open before her once again with a new message.
"I see what you meant now Mithrial. Something with my name on it dropping from such a low tier boss is quite surprising. Maybe I should go buy some lottery tickets while I'm up today." A light laugh escaped her lips as she re-sheathed her tactical knife. 'Lets test a theory of mine real quick before we dive into the new tab and equipment.'
Focusing on the blood stain that had dried on her skin, Lucielle visualized her Hellfire consuming the blood that stained her flesh. The flames sprouted to life and hungrily devoured the blood on her finger before fading away as Lucielle willed them away. Staring at her now cleaned finger, Lucielle smiled in satisfaction. "No more having to deal with gross grime from Gate dives so this will help with my personal hygiene while stuck inside a Gate."
"Mmmmm you're welcome Mithrial. Now lets get down to the truly exciting stuff." Flopping down onto her bed, Lucielle inspected the cube in her hand before opening the newly acquired Gear tab in the System.
< Gear:
Weapons: Lucifers' Transforming Cube (A unique weapon of the Fallen Angel Lucifer. The cube is capable of transforming into a vast variety of weapons as well as accessories for non combat related purposes. Soul Bound to Lucielle Everstar.)>
Focusing on the term Soul Bound a tool tip appeared.
"Quite the bloodthirsty servant aren't you Mithrial. I think I'll be choosing a mid range option, because if someone had the balls to steal something on my person then I'd rather have the chance to deal with them personally. Can't quite do that if they die right away you know." Changing the security measure to medium, Lucielle closed the system window before staring at the box once again.
"Now what shape should I change you into first?" Staring intently at the box in her hand for a few moments as countless ideas raced through her mind, Lucielle finally made a choice after a minute had passed by. The cube crumbled as it collapsed into itself before forming into the shape of a necklace with a flaming scythe as the ornamentation.
The necklace itself was still jet black but the scythe and the thorns that wrapped around it were ivory white mixed with the jet black. "It looks just how I visualized it. Quite a handy thing having a vivid imagination is but now lets try weapon generation instead."
"Well you'll just have to wait and see Mithrial." A small smile escaped her lips as she stood up and walked away from her bed before stretching her hand with the necklace outwards. The transformation was a more swift this time around as Lucielles' necklace morphed into a hand gun that she had seen in a military manga.
"Oh that's nice. The transformation speed was significantly faster that time around. I guess the cube wanted to be dramatic for its first transformation. I assume as I use this more that the transformation speed will become faster?"
"It's a shame I won't get to use this openly for a while yet." Lucielle morphed the handgun into a small dagger which she tossed from hand to hand as she got used to its unusual lightness.
Slashing through the air with her dagger as she went through a light mock training session, she said "It's because equipment like this doesn't drop from Gates of this low level so it'd be quite unusual for me to have something of such high quality. I'd need to be at least raiding C or B rank Gates to have a chance at this quality of equipment to drop without it raising too many peoples suspicion and scrutiny."
"Of course but when traveling and fighting with others I'll have to solely rely on my Hellfire for offense, though once I get up to raiding C or B rank Gates the opportunities to venture solo will be a lot harder to manage unless my strength at that point eclipses the strength of the Gates." Glancing down at the dagger in her hand once more, Lucielle was more than confident that would be the case by the time she managed to reach those ranks. 'With such explosive growth from leveling I think I should be alright as long as I don't let my arrogance get to my head.'
Morphing the dagger back into its necklace form, Lucielle looped it around her neck before tucking it under her shirt. As she did so her cellphone began to ring from its perch on her nightstand beside her bed. Raising an eyebrow and wondering at who could be calling her at this time in the afternoon, Lucielle walked over and picked up the phone to answer it.
