Chapter 19 - Chapter 19

The remaining water that soaked Lucielle's skin was being absorbed by the blankets she had wrapped around herself, but none of that bothered her that much. She was very much looking forward to what she could discover from the system that could make her stronger and, by extension, richer.

"Status" She said as the system window displayed her current stats. 'I'll never get over how much this looks like a character sheet from an RPG.

Name: Lucielle Everstar

Hellfire Lvl. 3 (EXP 950/1000)

Fate Sight Lvl. 1

Hell Stride Lvl. 1

Contract Lvl. Max

Furrowing her brows as she saw that she had gained two additional skills that she wasn't notified about, Lucielle focused on Hell Stride to bring up its skill description.

(Hell Stride: A technique that consists of the user opening a brief portal in to Hell to traverse great distances in an instant. The greater the distance traveled, the greater the energy used. Hell has housed the souls of sinners since the beginning of time for all of eternity, and to support the great number of demons and souls, the area in Hell is vastly greater than the world of the living. Whenever Lucifer passed through these tunnels, people assumed he was teleporting.)

"Interesting. So now I have a mobility skill to compliment my destructive firepower." A slight smile spread on her face as she began to read the other new skill she had obtained.

(Contract: Constructs soul binding contracts. It is up to the user to transform an apparently fair contract into something completely disadvantageous to the other party if you so choose. As this ability relies on the users own intelligence, it will not have a level and will not be able to level up, being already at the maximum level.

When bored, Lucifer liked to go to the mortal realm to have fun making contracts with humans. Lucifer had never lost in any deal he made, making the saying "Never make a deal with the devil" become extremely popular.

Since Lucifer was the one writing the contracts, he always used his vast intelligence and wisdom to make contracts that were equally advantageous on the surface, but if someone were to read the contract more intensively, they would realize that Lucifer had left several openings for himself on his side of the contract, while the other person's side was much more rigid.)

"Interesting interesting." Lucielle said as she pondered the possibilities this last ability could bring about. They were nearly infinite if she studied how to produce loaded contracts for people. "Never would have thought I'd be studying up on how to make contracts in this lifetime. Mithrial why did these skills only show up now? I assume these are skills I acquired from leveling up?

"Hmmm I see. Thank you for that Mithrial. I'll be honest and say I did forget about the weapon box. The recent events caused me to shuffle it to the back burner of my mind."

"I'll keep that in mind Mithrial but I still like figuring things out on my own as much as possible, however if you feel I'm about to misstep somewhere don't hesitate to let me know."

Ignoring Mithrials laugh in her head, Lucielle focused more on the system display before her. 'If it's mimicking an RPG character spread sheet then there should be a tooltip window if I inspect terminology on it.' Lucielle focused her attention on Level to see if her theory was correct. Almost immediately a new smaller window appeared.

[Level: A user assimilation classification system associated with Lucifer's powers. The higher the users Level, the greater the similarity of the user's strength to Lucifer's strength. When the level goes up, the user will awaken a mysterious ability from Lucifer. When the user receives all skills and raises them to the maximum level, the system assures the user will have a strength equal to Lucifer the most power angel.

"Mithrial will I be able to become stronger than I was in my past life? Or will I eventually plateau and stop growing?"

"Mmm." It still hadn't quite settled in that she used to be a powerful divine being in the past and that she was dropped all the way back down to the bottom of the totem pole in her reincarnation. 'I'll just have to work harder than anyone else if I want to recapture that former glory of mine.'

'If I already had such a huge growth potential with just the [Hellfire] skill, how high will I be able to reach after leveling up even more. Before I had the potential of becoming a rank B Slayer and with even more hard work rank A, but if I keep endlessly growing I might be able to catch up to those legendary monsters in the S ranks Slayer groups. Maybe even higher than the original Slayers from the origin point.' Goosebumps began to dot her flesh as her excitement began to build but she took a few deep breaths to calm herself down. 'I can't go getting a big head now or else I'm no better than arrogant children that I dived with. Arrogance is good in small amounts but too much and I'll lose my head.' Lucielle thought to herself as she shook her head.

Slipping out of bed, Lucielle walked over to the large vanity mirror in the corner of her room before giving herself a once over. Her petite form was without blemish or scar as she gave herself a once over. Her pale skin was dotted with goosebumps from the chill air in her room and from her own excitement at her promising future. Staring at her forehead for a moment she let out a sigh before speaking. "I suppose I should let them out to breathe a little since I'm home now."

Her head began to pulse as she felt her horns begin to push through the skin and muscle. Two elegant horns of sky blue color pierced through her skin and driblets of blood began to flow down her head. 'I probably should have done this before taking a bath but it's whatever at this point. I'll just wash my hair to clean the blood off.' Staring at her horns, Lucielle reached up and stroked them lightly as a tingling sensation raced through her body upon her touching them.

Raising an eyebrow Lucielle said, "I can do that? Like at any time?"

Lucielle focused on her horns and visualized them turning jet black and before her eyes the color of her sky blue horns changed to jet black. 'Now how to hide them from the sight of humans. Why didn't I ever think to try this before?' She was about to try visualize hiding the horns when her heart dropped into the pit of her stomach. 'When did I learn to hide my horns? Did I do it subconsciously or did Mithrial force a change on my body as well? I hadn't even thought about my horns being exposed for the longest time. Stupid stupid stupid Lucielle.' Berating herself more, Lucielle took in a few deep breaths to calm herself down before getting back to hiding her horns.

Furrowing her brow, Lucielle stared at herself in the mirror as willed her horns to disappear from sight and as she stood there looking at her horns they slowly began to fade from her reflection. Well that was certainly easy. Thanks for the heads up Mithrial." Reaching up towards where her horns were originally, Lucielle was shocked to find her hand passing through thin air. "Um what the fuck. Did I just get rid of my horns?"

Breathing a sigh of relief Lucielle began to get dressed as she was now uncomfortably cold from the rooms AC. Dressing in a simple outfit consisting of a t-shirt and jeans Lucielle gave herself a once over as she looked at the mirror. Looking at her features it was understandable for people to think that she had received a power from a god of beauty, since she really had become much more beautiful than she was before her awakening. What James said about her earlier was not so unrealistic, as sometimes older, wealthy men and women had offered to support her in exchange for being their personal sex slave.

Shaking her head, Lucielle walked away from the mirror as she went back to looking at the rest of the system Status window but nothing as important as the tool tip for level had appeared. "Maybe as I level up more functions will open up in the system menu because I refuse to believe this is all the system has to offer me." Settling down onto her bed once more Lucielle finally focused on the weapon box notification.

A flash of light briefly blinded Lucielle as she felt something plop down into her lap. Blinking rapidly to clear her eyes and readjust to the rooms lighting, Lucielle saw a box decorated by twisting flames and thorns laying in her lap. "Well that's certainly an interesting design choice. Lets see what this baby has in store for me." Reaching towards the latch on the box Lucielle's heart beat in excitement.
