Chapter 45 - 43. Morning Blues

The day dawned with mist and fog filling the air. Grim reapers flowed the castle as they did what they did best. The Malverik has taken quite some lives - so the reapers had their work to do.

At the turret stood the great impaler, sleep has eluded him as always. He watched as the grim reapers present at the turret collected the souls of the dead god and goddess. Then a certain reaper approached him, and stood by his side.

"Still can't sleep?" The reaper asked.

Zander looked at him, and smiled slightly, "I thought you were avoiding me"

The reaper shuggered, "I changed my mind."

"I see," Zander said

"I had my reasons" the reaper informed. Just then the great impaler's right hand came to his lord, informing him about the king's recent request - that he is needed at the throne hall after the sun rises at it's peck.

"What is he doing here?" Ian asked Zander after delivering the message.

"Ian, let it go" Zander told him. But Ian and the said reaper were glaring at each other.

"Stop pestering around. You are his duty boy, nothing else" the reaper said.

"Call me that again, and I'll -" he made an attempt to come closer to the reaper, but the great impaler stopped him.

"Enough," Zander said, "You are dismissed" he added. And Ian gave the reaper a last glare before he walked away.

Zander turned to the reaper, "What is wrong with you?"

"I'm not to blame for your duty boy's anger issues" he said.

"His name is Ian" Zander informed.

"Don't care"

"You should try to get along with him"

The reaper scoffed, "You know that's not possible. You should have thought of the consequences before you replaced me with him... whatever his name is"

"You weren't replaced, Lucas. You left."

Lucas looked at him, "Like I said, I had my reasons"

"Then why are you angry?"

"I am not angry. Your duty boy is" Lucas informed, before he cleared his throat.

"So. You give your jacket to humans now?" He asked clearly changing the subject.

Zander looked at him, "How did you know about that?"

"I have my ways. But anyhow, I realised that she is your alkarite."

"And, why are you so concerned?" The Lord impaler asked him.

"I am not," he said at first, then he added. "Maybe I am, a little. She's special"

"I know." Zander said barely in a whisper.

"You should really keep a close eye on her." The reaper said staring at the vast field.

Zander glanced at him, but said nothing.

"You seem to like her, that's not like you at all. Perhaps your change has come"

"Since when do you prophecize ?" Zander asked sarcastically.

"Since I became a reaper" he said. "It was nice talking to you" and with that he left with his other reapers. They and the reaped souls entered into a dark portal, before it vanished.

***************************

Prince Kal walked into the second prince's chamber without the door announcer announcing his presence.

The chamber was dark, because the long curtains were still closed, shading the entire room.

Kal sighed, before he walked to the closed curtains, and pulled them open. Rays of sunshine poured into the glamorous chamber, revealing the second prince and not one, but three goddessess that were sleeping with him.

The nude goddessess shaded their faces from the sunlight.

"Good morning" Kal said as he sat on a nearby cushioned chair.

Raphael sat up lazily at the bed, "For Rao'sake Kal, why are disturbing my sleep, do you know what time it is?"

"It's sunrise" Kal informed.

Raphael groaned tiredly , "What do you want?"

Kal brought out a certain book and showed it to him.

Raf sighed, "No,"

"Yes. So stop pouting" Kal said.

"The documentary of the six princes" One of the goddessess on his bed read from the book that Kal held, "What is that, my lord?" She asked.

"It's the worst documentary to ever exist" the second prince informed, "I'm afraid, you all have to leave now. My brother has ruined our morning"

Without wasting time, the three naked goddessess scotted away from the chamber.

"You do realize that you have just denied me more pleasures this morn" Raf told his brother.

"Oh, have I?" Kal asked with sarcasm, as he wrote down somethings on the golden book.

"Fine. Just get it over with" Raf said.

Kal looked up, "I'm already done" he closed the book.

"What do you mean?" Raphael asked.

"What do you mean, by what do I mean? Your morning documentaries are always the same. You wake up every morn with more than one goddess at your side."

"If you already knew that, then why did you come?"

"To fulfill all righteousness," he answered, and stood on his feet. "And to wake you up on time, you sleep too much" he added, as he walked towards the door.

"Send those goddessess back here" Raphael told him, as he opened the door.

"Don't push your luck" Kal said as he stepped out.

"Don't come back!" Raf said loud enough for Kal to hear.

Kal smiled as he walked up the flight of stairs. He took the left turn heading to the great impaler's chamber - he was next.
