Chapter 49 - 47. The Villagers Cliff

Just when she was about to force herself to sleep, she heard dull banging sounds. Without wasting much time she left her room and ran towards the living room. She saw her father scattering the whole place.

"Papa, what are you doing?" she rushed to him.

"I have to find it" Cerman said.

"Find what?" she asked trying to hold him, from messing up the whole room. But her papa was adamant about finding whatever it is that he was looking for.

"I have to find it" he kept saying.

Aurora watched him perplexed as ever. "Papa, what are you doing?" she asked but to no avail, because she got absolutely no reply.

But suddenly Carmen paused, "No, I remember now where I lost it" he said approaching the door, but his daughter stopped him from opening the door.

"You have to tell me what you are looking for?" Aurora asked again more seriously this time.

"I lost it at the villagers cliff, no... I have to go and find it"

"Papa, you are not going anywhere" she said standing in front of the closed door.

"I have to find it" Cerman said.

Aurora shook her head, "Not until you tell me what it is. And you can't leave, if the villagers see you, you know what they would do" she informed.

"Then, I'll have to kill myself" he said as he hurriedly went to the kitchen.

"What? Papa, no! " Aurora followed fast behind him.

At the kitchen, Carmen grabbed a certain knife and held it to his throat.

"Papa, please stop...put down the knife." her daughter begged.

Cerman shook his head, "I have to find it."

Aurora could see that the knife was slowly drawing blood - her father was crazy, clearly he wasn't joking about killing himself.

"I'll go to the villagers cliff, I'll find it, but first you have to put down the knife." she just has the say something, or else her papa will be bleeding out on the floor.

"You will find it?" he asked.

Aurora nodded instantly "Aye. But you have to tell me what it is"

Cerman brought the knife closer to his neck, "Will you find it or not."

"I will! Just put down the knife" she pleaded, then slowly Cerman brought the knife down.

Aurora brought her shawl and wrapped it around her, then she led her papa out of the kitchen and to the living room. She sat him down on one of the wooden chairs, "Stay here, do not go near that knife again, or else I wouldn't find it for you."

Cerman nodded.

Aurora inhaled deeply, before she pulled the door open, and went outside. She closed the door behind her. Leaning against the door, she sighed, her eyes glancing through the night.

How exactly was she going to find what she knows nothing about - she wasn't even given a description. Aurora thought she had learned how to handle her demented father but it seems she still had a long way to go.

The villagers cliff was not that far from her cottage, the only challenge she had now was her weak legs. But anyway, she made her way to the cliff. When she arrived, she glanced around in confusion.

"How am l to find something I know nothing about," she sighed with frustration , "This is crazy." she added. She went to the edge of the cliff, and looked down.

"Whoa,"  she gasped as she moved back a little, the height was alarming, scarier even. If someone falls from here, it will definitely be a sure death.

"Are you lost?" she heard a voice. She turned, and saw a cloaked man.

"Nay, am not" she said staring at the weird tattoo on the side of his face, she was able to see it because the night was not dark - it was the full moon.

The man came closer, and she couldn't move backwards to avoid falling off.

"Your face," he said, "I like it."

"What?" she asked in confusion.
