Chapter 40 - Chapter 40

Jasmine walked, picking up her pace, as she tried to ignore the guy who was following her since she left the coffee shop, she wanted to just run away from him, but she knew it was her fault this time, so it was best for her to be quiet.

"Are you going to ignore me?" Austin shouted, she didn't have any choice, so she turned around and glared at him, making him shocked, "What? Really, are you angry on me?"

"No, I'm not angry I'm just irritated because of you!" Jasmine said, crossing her arms, "How can you get irritated, you should be guilty of not coming," Austin accused, "I was waiting for you, but you were enjoying with your friends without even informing me!"

"I'm feeling guilty okay, but do you think you can listen to my reason for doing that!" Jasmine demanded. Austin nodded not sure what she was going to say, "Do you know what people say about you?" Jasmine questioned.

Austin understood her meaning, "So what, does it bother you that much?" He asked, Jasmine widen her eyes at his words, "Off course, they say you go out with everyone girl you like, that you are a playboy," Jasmine took a deep breath as she realised her words came out harsher than she thought, "You don't know the meaning of love, nor you understand the responsibilities you have." She said softly, trying to cover up the damage she did.

Austin was stunned at her words he felt a tightness in his chest which was making it difficult for him to breath, he was standing a bit far from her, he gave her one last look and walked away from there. Leaving Jasmine with guilt.

Austin slumped on the dark blue couch in his living room, his penthouse wasn't as huge as Jason's, but it was also not small, the interior was done by his mom, there was a round glass table in the front and a dark grey two-seater couch on the other side, the dark grey fur carpet on the floor and a dark blue chair on his right complemented the living room.

The French windows had dark blue and white transparent curtains and a designer chandelier which hanged near the window.

Closings his eyes he recalled the words Jasmine said which made him frown, "You're not the person I want to date, so please stop following me!" This is what her words meant to him.

Austin rubbed his hands on his face with a grown, for the first time in these two years someone has rejected him, not only that bothered him, the hurt he felt when she said those words was something he didn't expect. It was the first time in these two years he liked someone.

"Maybe, her rejecting me was the reason." He tried to justify the pain he was feeling because of the girl he met some weeks ago.

Austin got up from the couch and went towards the kitchen, as he was tired from walking all the way to his house.

He opened the fridge and took out a cold bottle of water, his footsteps were the only sound in his house, it was still dark in the house as he didn't switch on the lights.

"These girls take us for granted!" Austin mumbled, he wanted to talk to Jason, tell him the things he found about Claire the reason for which she is participating in the contest, but he was sure Jason might have already talked to Claire or more like scared her to death.

He leaned on the fridge and sighed deeply, holding the bottle in his hand as his grip tighten on it, he liked Jasmine since the day he saw her, he just wanted to know more about her but sadly that wasn't going to happen as he knew the reason Jasmine doesn't like him is because of his reputation.

He hated to admit but for the first time he felt he should have cleared the image about him that was building in people's eye, but he never cared, he walked out of the kitchen and went in his bedroom.

When he opened the door of his room, he noticed his room and sighed, the dark blue bed with grey bedding with dark grey nightstands on each side of the bed made him groan.

Sitting on his bed he glanced at the dark grey walls which were making him feel gloomier than he already was, he always regretted changing his life for the girl he now hates the most, remembering her face was always painful for him, but he never changed anything in his house as he wanted to remember the mistakes he made in the past. He regretted how he trusted that girl over his best friend and how he almost lost Jason because of her.

Not only his living room was a combination of grey and dark blue but the whole house was the same, he chuckled recalling how he fought with his mom so that she designs his house the way that girl wanted. Austin walked in his closet to change his clothes, he stood in front of the mirror checking himself, he hated how he can't control his emotions.

After changing in more comfortable clothes, he came out and lied on the bed closing his eyes, he wanted to talk to Jason but he knew that he had his problems to deal with so he decided to talk to the person who could make him feel at ease.

Taking his phone from the nightstand he dialed his mother's number waiting for her to pick up, when she didn't pick his call, he again called her, even this time she didn't pick up his call. He was about to call her again when an unknown number flashed on his mobile screen.

With a frown, he picked up the call, "Hello, who's this?"

"How can you forget me, Austin" Came a sweet voice that was just cunning to him than anything else in this world, he recognized the voice, "How dare you call me! Who gave you, my number?" Austin shouted, getting up from his bed, gripping the phone tightly. "Don't ask questions, sweetheart, just wait for me." She said and cut the call.
