"He really wants to date me, but it's fake!" Claire exclaimed, she was sitting on the couch in Jasmine's apartment, narrowing her hazel eyes, thinking deeply about what he said.
She recalled telling him to give her some time. "But it's just for the sake for helping him." Jasmine argued, she was pissed at Jason, but she was angrier on Claire for considering his wish.
"Why are you even thinking about it? just say no." Jasmine stated angrily. "I understand what you are saying, but..." Claire groaned when she couldn't understand why she was even defending this situation.
Jasmine was quietly staring at her, Claire noticed her friend's weird behavior but didn't say anything, but when she couldn't handle Jasmine staring at her anymore, "What?" Claire shouted in irritation. Jasmine sighed and got up from the chair in front of the couch and walked towards her, she sat down beside Claire, holding Claire's shoulders and asked.
"Claire the way you are behaving, I think you like him!" Claire was stunned, by her words, Claire was silent for some time then she suddenly busted in laughter, "Where did you get that idea from?"
Jasmine stared at her with narrowed eyes, which made Claire shut her mouth, "Don't you dare lie to me!" Jasmine warned.
Jasmine's question made her realise that she had a liking on Jason, but she was afraid to say that as she knew Jason was someone who can be a problem in her life, she sighed deeply and said,
"J, I think I do like him."
"And what makes you think that?" Jasmine questioned, making Claire glare at her, she just shrugged her shoulders and told her to continue, "Since the day I danced with him-"
"At the party?" Jasmine cut her off, Claire nodded, "Since that day I keep feeling nervous whenever he is around me o-"
"It might be because you were scared that he will find out the reason you were participating i-"
"Will you stop cutting me off!" Claire snapped at her, making her close her ears because how loud Claire was, "Sorry, I won't say anything now."
"Well, whenever I think about him, it does make my heart flutter, and I was even acting like a teenager in front of him today!" Claire recalled, how she ogled at him.
"But he is planning to cancel the contest! Why does he want to do that?" Claire stated, getting up from the couch, she didn't want him to cancel the contest.
"Because the reason, he was hosting the contest is done, I guess." Jasmine suggested, "What does that mean?"
"Well, maybe he was just trying to find someone who he could date, but not for real and he found you." Jasmine smacked her lips in satisfaction, she was in aww at her own explanation, "Do you really think that?" Claire asked tapping her foot in nervously.
"Off course, don't you think this might be the reason for his sudden suggestion to cancel the contest in the middle!" Jasmine asked, Claire nodded her head, she knew Jason wanted someone like her who was in a vulnerable situation and luckily, he found her.
"Then what should I do?" Claire groaned, a part of her wanted to date him even if it was fake but another part of her didn't want to get played by him, she slumped on the couch, closing her eyes, tired of thinking so much. Jasmine wanted to help Claire, she was sad to see her in so much of trouble, but she couldn't do anything.
Jasmine went to the kitchen to get something to eat for them, suddenly Claire's phone rang, "Who is it?" Jasmine asked, making Claire reach her phone that was on the table beside her, to check who it was, when she checked the caller id her heart dropped in her stomach.
It was her father, she answered the call nervously, "Hello, dad."
"Claire, come home now it's really important." He said, which made her feel scared, "Is everything okay?" She asked worriedly, "Just come home." He ordered., and disconnected the call, Claire stared at the phone for a minute to digest what just happened.
"Was it your dad, what did he say?" Jasmine asked worriedly, patting on her back, "He wants me to go home right now." Claire replied, "So suddenly?"
Claire got up from the couch and took her purse, she wore her heels and left from Jasmine's apartment in a hurry, she took a cab and made her way to her house, all the way she was thinking for the reason her father wanted to meet her at such a late hour.
When she reached there, she rushed towards her home, knocking on the door she waited for someone to open it, "You are definitely a smart girl." Maria said, as soon as she opened the door, Claire furrowed her eyebrows in confusion, and walked past her inside the house, wanting to see her father.
But what she saw made her widen her eyes in shock, there was Jason sitting on the couch and enjoying a drink with her father, "Dad," Claire called him, who was busy having a conversation with Jason.
"Claire, come here, we were just talking about you." Her father said happily, she was shocked to see him talking to her so nicely, the last time she saw him, he was quite angry with her, and she expected that he won't even talk to her, but here he wasn't even looking angry he was even smiling at her.
Claire glanced towards Jason, who had a drink in his hand, and winked at her, she was sure he was the one responsible for the sudden change in her father's behavior, "Why did you call me so urgently?" Claire asked.
"Why, can't I call my daughter when I want to see her?" Her father asked, "Forget all that, tell me the reason, why are you rejecting this young man?" He asked, making Claire stunned, she couldn't believe Jason told him that.
"Yeah, please ask her Sir, why can't she date me?" Jason asked innocently, making Claire gulp, now what will she answer.
